Selfridges Launch £2000 “Bling-Kini”!
When the whole world tries to cut down on expenses as the recession has affected almost everyone, Selfridges’ swimwear department has launched a £2,000 ($3,200) bikini – given a new name that’s ‘bling-kini’ – to meet the needs of fashion fans for summertime.
Apparently Selfridges are celebrating a 33% rise in sales with the launch of the lavish swimsuit but the question arises whether there are many people ready to pay a huge amount of money for the swimwear you can’t even swim in?
The producers have no doubts concerning that matter though.
Selfridges is expecting a crazy interest from fashion fans for the bikini, and has already set up a waiting list in advance. According to the recent information there are already shoppers lined up to purchase the limited edition design, in the London, Manchester and Birmingham branches of the store.
Swimwear is summer’s ultimate style statement,’ says Selfridges’ swimwear buyer Helen Attwood.
With all the right ingredients and adequate holding-in, pushing-up power a bikini can become a women’s best friend.’
The “bling-kini” created by Pistol Panties, was called the Anita. It is covered in 5,000 Swarovski crystals in tones of ruby, sapphire, emerald and gold and is a mixture between a bikini and a swimsuit, joined only by a thin gold beaded rope. Each square centimeter is worth £100.
If you want to know my opinion, the Anita is the worst swimwear I have ever seen. I know it costs much but the design is horrible. I guess it would be absolutely mad to spend 2000 for such an item.
