He told Interview magazine:

I’m not like most designers, who have to set sail on an exotic getaway to get inspired. Most of the time, it’s on my walk to work, or sitting in the subway and seeing something random or out of context.”

His designer career is developing so fast that he still can’t believe it is really happening to him.

The 24-year-old star said:

It’s been an amazing journey – one I never thought in a million years I’d be experiencing this soon. We’ve been in business since the end of 2004, so it’s all been really recent-about five years. Me, my brother, and my sister-in-law started this really without much guidance or experience.”

He tells about his family experience:

I was in fashion school, my brother has a law background, and my sister-in-law had worked in production, but none of us had a proper fashion business education. So being where we are today and thinking of all the people we’ve met and all the things we’ve been able to achieve has been a mind-blowing experience. It’s hard sometimes to take a step back and realise what’s happened because you’re always trying to move forward. You’re always looking at the next palette.”

We are not surprised though. He is exceptionally talented and deserves every cent.

Today we have a chance to look at some pieces from his Spring-Summer 2010 collection. These are mostly shoes but there are a couple of bags, too.

The shoes look great, especially those with fringe details – really glamorous and chic. I like the leopard-printed pair as well.

Fans of open toes will have to applause to 0the young designer. He created lots of such shoes for his summer line. Looks nice! Hope to see the whole collection soon.

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund is one of such. It is now six years old and offers emerging talents to get noticed and appreciated.

What is less encouraging is that no other country except the US holds this competition.

But as it is getting more and more popular I think we can hope that soon the situaion will change to the better. The U.K. has just launched its own new-designer competition and Italy has similar plans.

Vogue’s editor Anna Wintour is interested in the subject a lot. She said she’d recently had a meeting with the French minister of culture about starting a similar contest in France.

And Brazil, India, Russia, and China aren’t far behind,” Wintour added. But still, she argued, “New York is the place to come for young designers to show what they’re capable of.”

The winners of this year come from different backgrounds. Womenswear designer Sophie Théallet is French. She was awarded the grand prize of $200,000 and a year-long mentorship.

Sophie commented:

I’m French, so I’m going to try to do my best. Thank you for making my American dreams come true.”

Among the runners-up were mentioned jewelry designer Monique Pean and menswear designer Patrik Ervell who received $50,000 each to pursue their designer plans. The former promised, “I won’t disappoint you,” while the latter told the judges, “Thank you for thinking of this award. We all appreciate it.”

You might not know these names yet but it is sure that soon you will. Sophie Théallet, for instance, has already got some recognition for dressing the First Lady for Senator Ted Kennedy’s funeral in August.

And the award she received can become a good start in her career of a world designer.

Remember Alexander Wang?

He was last year’s winner and now he is known all over the globe. Among other winner we can name: Rogan (2007), Doo-Ri Chung (2006), Trovata (2005) and Proenza Schouler (2004).

Androgynous, downtown, sexy-tough, and provocative are all words fashion editors use to describe T by Alexander Wang, a collection that gives the so-soft T-shirt center stage.

In signature Wang fashion, each tee, tank, and dress is meticulously designed with stretched-out necklines, deep armholes, and mini pockets, yet rendered with a slouchy, what-this-old-thing insouciance.

Now young designers were given a chance to try themselves and show us their vision of the Nineties grunge and the era’s fringe, flowers, beads and bell bottoms.

The sketches that came out as a result were absolutely different proving once again that everyone sees and feels the time in his own way.

As you probably know at the ceremony CFDA Journal is distributed among the attendees. This time the nominees are featured in it wearing their own creations. It is worth seeing!

For example, Swarovski Womenswear Designer nominee Jason Wu models one of his evening gowns over a suit.
Designer of the Year nominees Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte are featured with rosy cheeks. International Award winner for Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, dons a pair of the bunny ears from his latest show on.

Another Swarovski Award For Womenswear Alexander Wang also poses in his creations.

The Journal itself won’t be available for ordinary customers unfortunately, but those who wish to be involved somehow can participate in a Popular Vote Award introduced by the CFDA.

So, anyone can nominate their favorite designer to win until June 9.

But when we think about spring that is already with us, LBD is something you probably want to forget about. Black is great and it’s chic but it seems too dull in spring and summer when everything is so bright and lively.

What designers want to offer to us is another classic – it’s going to be called LWD or Little White Dress!

Many couturiers have introduced this optimistic color to make us forget about all those problems we are experiencing today, I mean the economic recession that is always on our minds.

Besides, white is extremely feminine and very flirty. Wearing it you will always look perfect!

But what is LWD like? Basically it’s just a white dress with the skirt no longer than a knee point. It can be of any style, with any kind of embellishment or adornment.

Modern collections include nice examples of laconic minimalism. Minimalism means minimum details of any type, a simple, modest but still beautiful dress.

Look at Calvin Klein and MaxMara dresses shown below. Very simple designs, no pleats, ruffles or embellishments, just pure sophistication.

Another good example of a little white dress is a nice plain dress with tiny prints or little embroidery: Alexander Wang and Diane Von Furstenberg. Despite the fact the dresses may seem too ordinary they look very elegant.

Rich floral embroidery adds femininity to the dress you wear. And florals are a hot trend for spring-summer 2009. Diane Von Furstenberg created nice pieces using this fabulous detail.

Badgley Mischka used much exquisite patterns in their dresses making them look womanly and a bit fairy. When paired with nice jewelry and a good bag such a dress will look superb.

Next example of a perfect LWD is the one with a puffy or richly ruffled skirt that always reminds me of a princess dress. For those who like short voluminous dresses Balmain’s dresses may be a good choice. They are made from luxurious materials and have an embroidery and crystal embellishment.

If you want something unusual or even extraordinary I can suggest you Alexander McQueen or Betsey Johnson’s dresses. I’m sure you’ll never find anyone else wearing such a piece.

The last few dresses I want to tell you about were created by Gianfranco Ferre and I love them the most. I like the silhouette, the form of the sleeve and the belt that emphasizes the waist. Looks very elegant and classy.

These are just a few examples of a little white dress that will soon become very popular not only among designers but also with fashionistas worldwide.

There are plenty of other designs and styles and you can surely find something that will make you the queen of the party!

Having partnered with Paris Kain, he’s working on the jewellery collection currently, according to the Elle retort. Paris Kain is under the contract of Abraxas Rex jewellery brand, that is #2 after Calvin Klein’s jeweLry collection in its turn.

A capsule collection of silver pieces will include futuristic style cuffs and earrings inspired by Tina Turner in Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome.

WWD reports that the earrings will be neither clips, no pierced ears. And there are not yet any details on how the earrings will be worn. But what we know is that the collection is to be launched on Valentine’s Day!
