Azzedine Alaia on Karl Lagerfeld: “Happily, women love me and buy my clothes, unlike Karl who’s never been loved like me! [Laughs.] . . . I don’t like his fashion, his spirit, his attitude. It’s too much caricature. Karl Lagerfeld never touched a pair of scissors in his life. That doesn’t mean that he’s not great, but he’s part of another system. He has capacity. One day he does photography, the next he does advertisements for Coca-Cola. I would rather die than see my face in a car advertisement. We don’t do the same work. And I think that he is not doing a favor to young [designers] who might think it works that way. They’re going to fall before they retire.”

Azzedine Alaia on Anna Wintour: “I said it before. She runs the business [of Vogue] very well, but not the fashion part. When I see how she is dressed, I don’t believe in her tastes one second. I can say it loudly! She hasn’t photographed my work in years even if I am a best seller in the US and I have 140 square meters at Barneys. American women love me; I don’t need her support at all. Anna Wintour doesn’t deal with pictures; she is just doing PR and business, and she scares everybody. But when she sees me, she is the scared one. [Laughs.] Other people think like me, but don’t say it because they are afraid that Vogue won’t photograph them. Anyway, who will remember Anna Wintour in the history of fashion? No one. Take Diana Vreeland, she is remembered because she was so chic. What she did with the magazine was great, with Avedon and all the great photographers. Vogue remains while its fashion editors come and go.”

Well, I think Azzedine Alaia is a bit unfair about Karl. Karl Lagerfeld is fantastic. I love his fashion and truly believe that if one wants to look fashionable he can dress in Chanel only. As for Anna Wintour, I agree. She has access to the most beautiful clothing in the world but always looks terrible. There were just a few of her looks that impressed me. What do you think?

The redhead beauty poses provocatively for the cover of US Vogue April 2011 issue in a dress that looks barely there due to its color so close to Rihanna’s skin tone.

In the interview for US Vogue April 2011 edition Rihanna reveals about her attitude to fashion, says she has only recently realized how much she likes her body, and shares about many other interesting things about her persona you never knew about.

Here are some of the highlights:

Rihanna on how sexy she thinks her body is: “Over the holidays and during the filming, I realized that I actually like my body, even if it’s not perfect according to the book. I just feel sexy. For the first time I don’t want to get rid of the curves. I just want to tone it up. My body is comfortable, and it’s not unhealthy. So, I’m going to rock with it.”

Rihanna on being very inventive about fashion in her early years: “When I was fourteen and first started going out, I always wanted to be the opposite of everyone else. So I would go to the club in a polo T-Shirt and pants and sneakers…I would cut things out of magazines. I was obsessed with creating visual with clothing, and the ways things are combined.”

Rihanna on fashion issues: “It’s become more about taking a risk. When I’m putting looks together, I dare myself to make something work. I always look for the most interesting silhouette or something that’s a little off, but I hate to figure it out. I have to make it Me. I think that’s the thrill in fashion.”

Rihanna on her dislike of routine: “I hate going to the gym and doing it the old-fashioned way. I have anything that’s too straightforward, too routine, too familiar. I get bored really, really very quickly”.

Kate Bosworth was all-dressed up in Burberry pieces: pencil skirt pavéd with spikes and studs, leather biker jacket and a pair of matching ankle boots.

She commented on her outfit:

Everybody is asking me if it hurts to sit down with the studs, but it doesn’t at all, it’s just very heavy.”

Alexa Chung proudly showcased her neon blue bag from Burberry Brights handbag collection. Rachel Bilson chose to wear a pair of high-heeled Burberry boots from Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 range.

Chloe Green and her famous father and Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green also attended the Burberry Prorsum Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 fashion show. The girl said she worked on her first women’s wear collection that was planned to launch in November.

She said:

I haven’t named it yet. Hmmm. Maybe I should call it Project One?”

People who hadn’t been invited to the show could watch it live at Burberry stores across the globe as well as on Piccadilly’s main screen.

And why is she wearing a J. Mendel dress? As far as I understand Anna Wintour asked Natalie Portman to grace Vogue US January 2011 cover because Natalie’s role in Black Swan is a hot topic now. But in the movie the actress wore Rodarte. Why not the Rodarte dress then?

Blake Lively insists that she doesn’t have a personal stylist to give her advice on what to wear both daily and to red carpet events, so it must her inner sense of style that helps her look so fabulous in designer pieces.

Blake Lively is quite a shopaholic. She has recently bought over 40 pairs of shoes at Christian Louboutin’s invite-only sample sale in New York. The star spent over four hours looking at the stock and then trying on pumps.

I think it is not surprising that Michelle Obama in on the first place of this Forbes list. She does a lot for America and is very popular all over the globe. Lady Gaga, who is interesting to me as a great performer and a fashion icon, occupies the seventh position. Madonna, the singer and fashion designer, is number 29.

Heidi Klum, who has been a model for many years and now designs clothing for women, goes under 39th number while Sarah Jessica Parker, thanks to Sex and the City and her role in Halston, occupies the 45th place.

Super powerful, in my opinion, if we talk about the fashion industry, Anna Wintour is number 56 on the list. The highest-paid supermodel Gisele Bundchen is on the 72d position. Designers Tory Burch and Vera Wang occupy positions 88 and 91 respectively, while Donna Karan is on the 96th place. Angela Ahrendts, Chief executive in Burberry group, in number 97.

Roberto Cavalli Spring/ Summer 2011 fashion show was one of the star-studded during Milan Fashion Week. Leona Lewis and Taylor Swift were among those invited A-listers who sat in the front row at the show.

Taylor Swift looked super chic in her bold outfits that comprised a pleated skirt, cream-colored blouse, patterned tights and laced boots.

Leona Lewis opted for a more classic look. The singer wore a little black dress, a jacket and black pumps to the event.

This has been Victoria’s fifth Vogue cover following her shoots for German, Russian, British and Indian editions of the fashion bible. The singer-turned-designer is very proud of this fact as she is proud of her recognition in the fashion industry as a whole.

Victoria Beckham hopes to get the chance to do a US Vogue cover some time in the future. This won’t be very difficult to obtain considering her long-time friendship with Anna Wintour.

Victoria Beckham said last year:

While Posh had to promote outfits created by a few Turkish designers in August 2010 issue of Vogue Turkey she also donned her own creation for the shotoshoot – a limited-edition trench coat from her Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.

The ceremony was held at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday (June 7). Everything was just fantastic: the light, the music and the stars arriving one by one to the event. And then it all began.

The winners heard their names and walked to the stage to get their award. Some were happy and smiling, others seemed to be surprised and a bit embarassed.

Marc Jacobs was named the Womenswear Designer of the Year while Marcus Wainwright and David Neville for Rag & Bone got the prize as Menswear Designers of the Year.

Alexander Wang got the Swarovski Award for Accessories and his colleage Jason Wu received the Swarovski Award for Womenswear. Swarovski Award for Menswear was given to Richard Chai.

Alexis Bittar was honored as Accessory Designer of the Year. And the last but one of the most prestigious, Popular Vote Award, was presented to Ralph Lauren.

Despite the fact all the statues were given to men, plenty of famous ladies attended the ceremony of 2010 CFDA Fashion Awards. Majority of these you can see here. I will not comment on their outfits and give you the chance to express your opinions!

The US Vogue Editor admits it is necessary to pay more attention to the health of fashion models. Therefore she wants designers to stop sending in sample clothes that are too small for women and can fit only children.

She said:

Each and every one of us needs to realise we are all responsible for the models’ health. We need to reverse the tyranny of sample clothes that just barely fit a 13-year-old on the edge of puberty.”

The 60-year-old also notes that it happens more an dmore often that Vogue uses less models on the cover of the magazine because girls quit the job as they get older and grow larger.

She said:

Most models work only when they have the uber-slim physique of the very young, stop getting jobs when they fill out and hence don’t last long enough to develop public personalities, like the 90s supermodels did. As a result, more magazine covers and lucrative beauty contracts have gone to singers and actresses.”

But despite all these words Anna isn’t interested in having Oscar-winning actress Gabourey Sidibe on the cover of Vogue. And unfortunately for her, other magazines don’t look to be really excited about the idea either.

One of editors said:

She’s a joke in the fashion community. What she wore on the red carpet at the Academy Awards wasn’t a dress, it was a tent.”

Vogue is venue where designers debut their best new pieces. All are of which are one of a kind and sample size. It would be impossible to get a regular-sized girl in those clothes, let alone Gabby,” another source explained.
