I’m a Burberry girl who gets exited with every new brand’s collection, lookbook and photoshoot. And their campaigns are also very special for me because I have a chance to examine those fantastic trench coats and dresses again. The Spring 2012 campaign with Cara Delevingne and Eddie Redmayne looks amazing. The two pose together showing great affection and impeccable fashion taste.

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012 campaign features two images of Eddie Redmayne and Cara Delevingne. On one of these both Cara and Eddie are dressed in beige trench coats with checked lining. On the other photo they look more casual wearing stylish parkas. Cara has a striped hat on her head and a wicker clutch in hands.

Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2012 collection is very elegant and stylish. It features lots of signature trench coats made of warm high quality fabrics, floor-length sophisticated dresses in deep beautiful colors, tweed pencil skirts, chic classic jackets coming along with bow belts in contracting hues and flared trousers. Besides, the range includes leather and knitted gloves, laced ankle boots and a variety of bags ranging from roomy totes to small evening clutches.

The collection has the Burberry traditional feel but new elements are also present. Instead of mini dresses that came in plenty in Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection the Pre-Fall 2012 range comprises longer and more demure styles which often come with long sleeves and hemlines which literally lie on the floor. The same thing is about trousers. They come extremely long in the new collection.

The color palette of Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2012 is very warm and luxurious. No bright or cold hues are used which is a drastic change after the collection of the last year when purples, greens and blues abounded.

If someone asked me which brand makes the best trench coats I would immediately say it is Burberry Prorsum, the iconic British label with over a hundred years history. Their trench coats are classic – stylish, chic and always fresh and interesting. For Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion season Christopher Bailey has designed not only trench coats but also coats in straight silhouette, traditional-length pencil skirts decorated with unusual prints and side flounces as well as simple tops and sexy dresses.

Trench coats in Burberry Prorsum Spring/ Summer 2012 collection are amazing. They come in a variety of bright and neutral colors. Those which are neutral-toned have bright décor – beading, embroidery or patchwork details.

Dresses are all feminine, elegant and delicate. But it’s accessories and shoes which attract the most attention. Both are made with the use of colorful beads and sequins.

There was one thing really surprising though – nearly all items in Burberry Prorsum Spring/ Summer 2012 collection were much warmer than we normally wear in those seasons. But probably it was the English weather that had influenced Christopher Bailey. And Africa maybe, something tribal felt in the range – the wild prints?

The focus of the collection seems to have been on coats. Those came in plenty. We could see classic trenches (Burberry’s signature), cropped jackets with raffia on hoods, and parkas perfect to protect from rains and winds. Multi-colored peaked caps, in the same woven natural fabrics, with pompoms on top, finished the wintery looks.

Burberry Prorsum Spring/ Summer 2012 collection featured high-waisted skirts that softly cascaded to mid-calf, stylish tops with wooden beads on them, and a few dresses which were pretty classic but colors were too bright for formal occasions.

In great contrast to such a warm collection came the shoes, majority of which were actually sandals richly decorated with beads, and other interesting details.

One more fact to mention here, Burberry Prorsum showcased every look from their Spring/ Summer 2012 collection via Twitter even before the show started. This is what Christopher Bailey said on it:

The upcoming season is almost here so we are to tell all about men fashion trends for Fall/Winter 2011/2012.The designers have much to offer so men’s fall fashion is very rich in terms of colors, styles, textures, and fabrics. You will see some trends continuing like military fashion, and many new ones that will diversify your style.

Military trend goes on: Military style coats and jackets as well as accessories have been all over the runway and the trend is continuing since the last year. Such designers and brands as Salvatore Ferragamo, Alexander McQueen, and Versace showed off some some very stylish military jackets and outerwear. Alexander McQueen outerwear is heavily influenced by military fashion.

Preppy fashion adds a splash of color: Preppy fashion is a big trend this fall. If you like casual style and comfortable clothes in bright hues then you might find plenty of designs in the collections of Vivienne Westwood, Tommy Hilfiger, Junya Watanabe, D&G, Acne, and Etro.

Every shade of gray: Gray is classic. It can be worn with black and white as well as mixed with bolder colors. Whether you’re sporting a casual look or a business suit, gray color is one of the major trends for Fall/Winter 2011/2012. Michael Kors, Dior Homme, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, and Bogetta Veneta have used gray in suits, outerwear and other clothing.

Neutral tones with splashes of bold hues: Many designers have went for neutral tones for their Fall/Winter 2011/2012 collections but presented them with pops of bolder hues to keep it interesting. Canali, Salvatore Ferragamo, Etro, and Michael Kors have shown off some clothes in light brown hues, light gray tones, and even pure white. Accessorize the neutral suit with a bold red or teal scarf.

Stylish suits and workwear: The suits for Fall/Winter 2011/2012 feature single and double-breasted jackets, pleated trousers and bold pocket square. Suits have been seen at Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Hermes, Versace, Canali, Michael Kors, and Salvatore Ferragamo. Workwear and overalls have been made stylish as seen at G-Star, Buckler, Hermes, and Marni. Featured in leather and with outward pockets the overalls look fresh and fashionable.

Luxurious fabrics: Velvet is continuing as a trend alongside such luxurious fabrics as cashmere, fur, leather, and calfskin. These and other luxe fabrics have been all over runway. Velvet jackets, colored leather, fur coats and calfskin outerwear can be seen at Salvatore Ferragamo, Versace, Etro, and others.

Chunky knit and Nordic sweaters: Chunky knit sweaters in bold colors as well as the sweaters with Nordic motifs are big this season. They are warm and yet bright and can be found at Missoni, Junya Watanabe, Versace, and Hermes. By the way, bright and neutral turtlenecks also trend this season.

Loose-tailored clothes: Some loose-tailoring is also a big trend for Fall/Winter 2011/2012. From loose-fitting overalls and trousers to oversize loose coats and jackets you get to enjoy some freedom of motion alongside some form-fitting suits.

Some minor trends include various prints as seen at Dolce & Gabbana and Etro fashion shows, hats that have been seen at many shows including that of Dior Homme, Lanvin, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Dsquared2. Creased cuffed trousers are also among Fall/Winter 2011/2012 trends as well as the external pockets and scarves winded round the neck. If you like prints there are lots of swirling prints in Etro Fall/Winter 2011/2012 collection as well as plaid can be found in collections by many designers and brands and, of course, Burberry Prorsum.

Dresses

Sixties-inspired dresses varied from full-skirt evening frocks with low decolletage to geometric shift dresses with high necks. Knee legnth and short dresses come in a variety of bold colors and prints. Drop waist and oversize buttons could also be seen on the runways.

How to wear it: Wear a bold shift dress with bright legwear as seen at Fendi Fall 2011 RTW fashion show. Accessories in patent leather and vinyl are both trendy and stylish. Complete the look with chunky bracelets, bold rings, and a headpiece.

Bell Bottoms

Alberta Ferretti Fall 2011

Bell bottom pants paired with blouses and long tunics with high necks are also the sixties’ influence. These are great at elongating your figure adding a few inches to your height if paired with high heeled shoes.

How to wear it: Opt for high waist bell bottom trouser for a classy look in a bold hue and complete the look with a chiffon blouse or a high neck tunic. Avoid the latter if you have a short neck.

Outerwear

Sixties outerwear included swing coats single and double breasted that could also feature a fur collar and oversize buttons. In Fall 2011 collections you can see plenty of those as well as short plastic rain coats as seen at Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011.

How to wear it: Wear a swing coat with a knee-length skirt or shift dress. The skirt can be longer than the coat while the dress should be a bit shorter. You can define your waist in a swing coat by adding a flattering belt to it.

Fabrics

Patent leather and PVC as well as fur and plastic can be found on runway this fall. We have already featured on how to wear fur this season. Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Color Trend #1: Soft colors. It is essential to remember that in autumn and winter colors shouldn’t be as bright as they are in spring and summer. But it in no way means you have to go black, grey and brown. You can choose any color you like but make sure it is more subdued rather than flashy. Or you can opt for soft hues including lavender, cantaloupe, spindrift, or honeydew.

Garments in soft colors are stylish and elegant. They look sexy without being too aggressive.

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Color Trend #2: Mood-improving bright details. If you think soft hues are dull there is another great color trend for you to choose – bright details. Add bright accessories to you look, like scarves, bags or hats, find a great-looking pair of boots, or go for one vibrant item that will become the focus of your attire. Be smart to keep the balance. Too many vivid colors in one look in summer is playful and interesting, but in winter it looks vulgar.

Keep wearing your lemon pieces (You have bought a few for Spring/ Summer 2011, right?) as this color is still hot. Or go for deeper tones.

Orange color trend is timely as well but be careful with it. Stay away from total orange look unless it is the only thing which can make you feel good. Orange is cool when you know how to make it look cool.

Magenta is very beautiful but as with orange there is quiet a fine line between looking fantastic and tasteless wearing it. Be wise.

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Color Trend #3: Burgundy. If you want color but believe orange, lemon and magenta are too much for you try burgundy. It looks good on almost anyone and adds glamour to the appearance. This color is luxurious and there is hardly a way to spoil your look with it.

Grape can be an alternative for burgundy. Burberry grape looks the best.

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Color Trend #4: Shiny colors. For special event you might want something shining. Go for it! Special events need special dressing. But keep a few rules of wearing sparkling clothing in mind to stay in style.

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Color Trend #5: Midnight blue. Midnight blue is always safe no matter where you go: office, party, shopping, etc. Play with it, experiment and surprise your friends!

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Color Trend #6: Neutral colors. These colors are always fashionable and designers seem to never get tired of creating pieces in neutral hues. It’s simple: neutrals can stay with you forever, they are versatile and can be easily combined with other pieces, both neutral or bright.

Black is the best neutral. It’s slimming, elegant and chic. No one can make a mistake by wearing black. LBD is the great example of this color’s versatility.

White plays a spectacular contrast with black as with plenty of other hues. And it looks so sweet without any other colors.

If white looks wonderful but is very unpractical in terms of wearing stone lacks the latter and celebrates the first. Accessorize your stone garments and look best in those.

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Color Trend #7: Prints. In Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 season prints play a significant role. They dilute the monotone scheme and leave a great field for experiment. The safest option is to combine printed items with monotone ones. However, if you are confident about your styling skills you might want to try to coordinate various patterns in one look. Betsey Johnson offers us to combine leopard and plaid. And she even mixes leopard and python.

Leopard and python prints have been trendy for many seasons in succession. And we are actually a bit too tired of these but designers believe they can stay with us for at least one more fashion period – Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012.

Plaid is classic which you can update with modern colors.
