It has been revealed today that American fashion label Tommy Hilfiger is to be purchased by the owner of Calvin Klein for 2.2 billion euros.
Phillips-Van Heusen, who has owned Calvin Klein since 2003, has decided to buy the clothing company that belongs to British buyout group Apax Partners. This is going to be the second change of ownership for Tommy Hilfiger in four recent years.

In 2006 the company was purchased by its current owners for 1.6 billion US dollars. It was a troubled period for the brand. Apax fought off competition from few firms including Phillips-Van Heusen to secure the deal.
Now as company goes on sale again Apax says the business is ‘back to its old strengths’ after an overhaul during the past four years.
Apax partner Christian Stahl, who will join the Phillips-Van Heusen board after the sale, said:
In 2006, the business was suffering in the US and had lost its clear positioning – we saw the strength of the international business and together with the management team developed a clear strategy for repositioning and restructuring the US business. We invested heavily for growth and were able to crystallise the inherent value in this iconic brand.”
The number of Tommy Hilfiger stores has nearly doubled to 1,002 from 574 in 2006, and workforce has increased by 1,000.
Seems like Phillips-Van Heusen makes a good investment. We hope the brand will develop into a fashion empire!

Marc Jacobs understands that to extend the market for his creations he needs to attract new customers to his shows but as nearly all places are taken by A-list celebrities this can be a bit difficult. So, at his upcoming show at New York Fashion Week the designer doesn’t want to see stylish A-listers.

Besides, the acclaimed designer thinks it’s “boring” to have all the same audience again and again,
He revealed to the New York Post:
I’m not into the celebrity thing . . . like we used to. That’s boring.”
Marc doesn’t want to see famous fashionistas even backstage. Once Madonna came backstage after his show and made the couturier feel “awkward”.
He said:
She came backstage, and I was like, ‘What do you do with her now?’ Because it’s not like she was invited.”
Not being invited to the show, celebrites will be able to watch it on the internet as Jacobs and Calvin Klein have announced they will be streaming their runway shows on the web. Rodarte and Alexander Wang will be following in the footsteps.
An industry insider said:
The industry is really suffering right now, and there’s a need to reach a bigger audience in order to increase sales. Having Fashion Week online makes these designers universal, which is a huge benefit to their lines.”

Eva Mendes is super-hot and Calvin Klein have tried to use her appeal to promote the new line of their whitewashed jeans.

The ad campaign for Spring-Summer 2010 looks very much similar to those which were popular when Cindy Crawford was at the top of her career – sexy woman+handsome man, oily bodies and designer clothing.
Eva and Jamie Dornan do make a good picture but why so much oil and dirt?

The new line includes denim items for both men and women and feature a more contoured, shape enhancing fit which is now offered in clean, translucent washes.

Eva Mendes looks hot and beautiful on the cover of Russian Elle January 2010 issue.

The Hollywood actress shows her gorgeous body in a set of photos for the magazine. She looks fresh and sexy wearing a purple patterned bra and a blue cardigan.

The picture of her wearing bleached jeans and a simple top is very appealing too. It’s not clothes that make her look this way here, it’s the expression of her eyes and a half-opened mouth.

The Calvin Klein model also gives an interview to the glossy revealing a lot about her personal life and plan for the future.

And at last we can see the ad campaign of the one of the most luxury brands in the world – Calvin Klein. The campaign is classic and looks chic. Garments are simple but very elegant.

Edita Vilkeviciute and Jamie Dornan grace the photo shoot. Photography is by Craig McDean.

Personally I don’t like Calvin Klein’s designs much but these do look nice. Hope the entire collection looks the same.

Despite the fact the first Calvin Klein advertisement with nude Eva Mendes was banned by the critics for being too obscene, the brand again asked the actress to show off her gorgeous body. This time she isn’t absolutely naked but still revealing much.

The 35 year-old is posing with Irish model Jamie Dornan, 27, both covered in body oil in the new ad for CK underwear.
One image shows Eva gracing alone wearing just lingerie and stockings. She looks very hot!

At another photo a sweaty-looking Eva strips down to lacy lingerie as she puts her head on Jamie’s chest. Both lying on the floor.

Our designers have plenty of ideas and they are not only about fashion!
Calvin Klein and Visionaire have teamed up to make people love published books more. Visionaire 56 SOLAR is the result of the collaboration. It is a special-edition book for your coffee-table, a Technicolor tome, that makes you forget about all the other books you have.

The invention has lots of black-and-white images which when exposed to sunlight or UV rays, turn into bright, vivid colors. Even the cover works that way.
