Neither has Carey Mulligan been photographed in her underwear for a magazine cover not has she fully undressed for a movie scene. But everything happens for the first time sooner or later. And we see Carey in a bra for W Magazine January 2012 issue and she goes nude for a moment in her latest Shame film.

Carey Mulligan looks lovely on the cover of W Magazine January 2012 issue wearing nothing but a white bra and a dress that she pulled down provocatively. She also looks very pretty on other photographs inside the edition: with a squirrel on her shoulder, in cat-eye sunglasses and running with her purse in hands.

The W Magazine covergirl, Carey Mulligan gives a frank interview about what it was like playing an exhibitionist character in Shame movie.

Carey Mulligan on her nude scene: “I’ve never, never been naked in a film before; I’ve been topless once or twice, but always in sort of very innocent ways. And I’ve always been sort of staunchly feminist about it, I’ve never relished the idea of doing it, and never if it was inappropriate or gratuitous in any way. But I just felt it was absolutely right; that’s exactly who she was. She wanted to be seen, she’s an exhibitionist and she’s provocative.”

Carey Mulligan on feeling confident playing a character who didn’t worry about her appearance: “I didn’t have to worry about what I ate, or how much I drank, and I didn’t have to work out. She was an alcoholic mess. She didn’t have any money to dye her hair. I mean I didn’t become an alcoholic, but I didn’t have to watch myself. It was so much more exciting to play that character that didn’t worry about her appearance in any way. I knew that when I stood up in that bath naked it wasn’t about whether I looked good naked or not. It was about who she was.”

Carey Mulligan on playing the suicide attempt scene: “I was sitting there and this fake blood was pumping out of my arms and I was in this completely hopeless state with a kitchen knife next to me. And it was horrible, it was really horrible and I wasn’t expecting it, it was a complete surprise, and I felt awful. It sounds so pretentious, but it just made me feel horrible. I felt devastated and I felt so sad. And I’m fine. I’m great and well adjusted and everything’s cool, but just the idea of being that helpless and that lonely, it was just really sad. I got into the taxi at the end of the day and I couldn’t stop crying.”

I like to start from the best things, so the best celebrity red carpet options were the following:

#1. Anna Kendrick’s floor-length gown by Marchesa. Very beautiful, very feminine and absolutely luxurious.

#2. Prada dress that helped Carey Mulligan top the best-dressed list of Harper’s Bazaar. This dress is definitely Carey’s best ever fashion choice.

#3. Diana Agron’s queen-worth dress that was designed by Carolina Herrera. Delicate lace, womanly silhouette and subdued chic tones.

#4. Taylor Swift’s glitzy blue sheath gown – my favorite among all Taylor’s dresses. The country music star wore it to the 2010 Grammy Awards.

#5. Armani Prive sumptuous gown that Jennifer Lopez donned to the 2010 Oscars was not only the most attention-grabbing dress of the evening, it was one of the most wonderful dresses Jennifer Lopez has ever worn.

#6. Halle Berry’s revealing dress looked incredibly sexy.

#7. And the last, but not the least beautiful gown was worn by Eva Longoria. Designed by Robert Rodriguez the dress was a real masterpiece.

The fact that surprised me a lot was that Kate Moss was considered the Best-Dressed Woman Of The Decade. I don’t really think she dresses well. She often looks scruffy and untidy. However, I can’t but admit that her style has been very influential. Her collections for Topshop flew off shelves and people tried to copy Kate’s style as much as they could.

Vogue style director Alexandra Kotur said:

At every moment Kate Moss has looked chic and cool. No one has had more influence for the past decade on the way women have dressed than Kate Moss.”

What I do agree with is that Lady Gaga is The Visionary. (Check out Lady Gaga’s Profile) Her bizarre outfits have become the inspiration for millions of girls.

Ms Kotur said of Lady Gaga’s style:

Lady Gaga speaks for herself – talk about being an individual. She’s that in a heightened sense. She doesn’t step out the door unless she’s in a whole look that’s very well thought out and has a purpose. When she met The Queen she wore an outfit that referred back to Elizabeth I. There’s thought that’s put into everything. She really, truly is the individual.”

The First Lady Michele Obama has also been included into Vogue Magazine’s Best-Dressed List. She was named the most independent because there is ‘no better example of fashion democracy’.

Ms Kotur commented:

What she has done is so wonderful in that there’s a spotlight on her and she’s opened up the vocabulary. She mixes high and low, she mixes J Crew with Gaultier. It’s that pairing of something not so expensive with something that’s a little higher end that’s worth celebrating.”

Speaking about the parameters that were taken into account while selecting women to compile the Best-Dressed List Ms Kotur said:

We chose people who were thinking out of the box, women who look as if they’re wearing what they really wanted to wear. The whole Vogue editorial team and fashion staff brainstormed to come up with the list. Our parameters were to highlight from the year, and the overarching theme that we observed was to recognize an emphasis on the individual.”

Carey Mulligan, who was named the Best-Dressed Woman of the Year by Harper’s Bazaar magazine, opted for a gorgeous Chanel dress from the French label’s Fall/Winter Haute Couture Collection.

Gossip Girl starlet Leighton Meester looked wonderful in a custom-made Prabal Gurung dress. She was the visual proof of the fact Prabal Gurung deserved his award.

Kim Kardashian arrived at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards with designer Zac Posen wearing one of his fabulous designs – a floor-length blue gown with a colorful pattern in front.

Diane Von Furstenberg looked luxurious in her white knee-long dress and a fur coat over it. To finish her look the designer chose a pair of golden heels and a pretty clutch.

Pamela Love’s dress looked amazing – very feminine and sophisticated.

The Olsen sisters opted for their usual fur coats. They should definitely be more imaginative with their outfits!

Accessory designer Tory Burch also attended the ceremony of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. She wore a tight-fitting floral-printed dress.

Keri Hilson’s option for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards looked great. Her assymentrical printed dress did attract attention.

The dress Karlie Kloss appeared in at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards was very beautiful by itself. But sincerely speaking it didn’t look impressive on the model. A woman with curves would look better in it.

The same thing I can say about Jacquelyn Jablonski who donned Thakoon creation to the ceremony.

Chanel Iman was wiser in choosing a dress for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards than her fellow models. The Altuzarra creation looked fantastic on her.

Another Gossip Girl actress, Blake Lively, also rocked Chanel design from the latest 2011 Spring/Summer Ready to Wear Collection. The see-through dress looked very sexy.

Christina Ricci strutted the red carpet with designer Peter Som and wore one of his elegant designs.

British model and TV host Alexa Chung also attended the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. As usual she opted for a vintage look. By the way, Alexa is in the running to be named London’s style ambassador at the British Fashion Council’s annual gala on December 7. Some of her competitors include Emma Watson, Stella McCartney, and Tilda Swinton.

Carey wowed fashion experts at the Oscars when she appeared on the red carpet wearing a luxury Prada gown embellished with hundreds of jewels. However, the 25-year-old doesn’t think she deserves such a status. She says she has a great stylist who dresses her for glam events and in life she prefers rather simple clothing. She also made it clear she wants people to appreciate her for her acting rather than fashion choices.

She said:

I was at a press conference and Woody Harrelson was answering questions about how he felt about his character. I got up there, and they said, “What are you wearing?” And I thought, “There was a time when I was an actress. Not just someone who wore dresses.”

Nevertheless Harper’s Bazaar experts consider Carey Mulligan worthy of being named The Best Dressed Woman of the Year. Fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu, who was on the judging panel, said of the actress’s style:

So Sixties French New Wave – like a Godard starlet – but totally modern.”

The photoshoot with Carey Mulligan for Vogue US October 2010 edition isn’t very much successful either. Carey is the girl who we like for that short playful crop and witty face not the glamour fashion choices. Those big couture dresses look ridiculous on her.

Aishwarya Rai wore a one of a kind Gucci magenta pleated chiffon gown. Aishwarya finally got it completely right!!! I love the color of this dress. And the hair is perfect here! Aishwarya walked the red carpet with mom Vrinda Rai, who looked elegant in a white sari.

Another hot look is Slama Hayek’s. Salma wore her second Gucci Premiere gown of this festival.

Vladimir Doronin and his beautiful supermodel girlfriend Naomi Campbell attended the premiere too. While he appeared to be wondering what the hell he was doing doing there, Naomi glowed wearing a Givenchy Fall 2008 dress.

The Asian actress Michelle Yeoh opted for a Roberto Cavalli Couture gown for the “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” Premiere. In the pale yellow organza tiered strapless gown she was classy, elegant and graceful.

Carey Mulligan chose a custom-made Azzaro Fall 2010 gown. But honestly, with her hairdo she looked like a 40-year-old lady in the dress

Other celebs hitting the red carpet, in addition to members of the “Money Never Sleeps” cast, included Ellen Barkin, Camilla Belle, George Lucas, Diane Lane, Gael Garcia Bernal and Martin Scorsese.
