Winter is a season when you want and need to look good. Health is above fashion of course but you can look elegant in any weather if you know how to choose and combine clothes. You can be well-dressed and warm at the same time!

Here are 5 tips for you to use when choosing your winter outfits:

Tip 1: Opt for warm clothes for the upper part of your body

To keep warm you need to choose good items to dress your upper part. The main thing is to choose the right fabric and length to avoid fatter look.

sweater

Find a top with long sleeves that narrow to wrists. This can be a silky blouse or the one of another flimsy material. Don’t wear tops with wide wrist area even if those are top trendy. Cold wind can go inside and you might catch a severe chest cold.

Don a sweater or a clinging shirt over the blouse. What is important here is that the bottom part of the sweater/shirt shouldn’t be wide either, because you will look fatter. Those women who like wearing cashmere and wool know that properties of the material are what matter not the thickness of it.

Tip 2: Wear sexy but warm lingerie

If your lingerie is all the way covered with the clothes it doesn’t mean you can wear something horrible down there. Don’t sacrifice your femininity to the cold. It’s possible to find sexy but warm underwear.

Tip 3: Keep your feet warm

If you wear trousers don thin tights underneath. The best fabric for winter trousers is wool. And trousers should be tight-fitting.

If you prefer skirts, opt for warmer tights. And of course the longer the skirt the warmer you feel. Forget about skirts which widen to the bottom. Straight design is the best.

skirt

No matter what you choose, trousers or a skirt, you should wear a good pair of high boots which can protect your feet and ankles from the cold. Opt for high boots of the same color as your skirt or trousers.

So much awaited and anticpated collection by Burberry Prorsum finally was unveiled and closed the London Fashion Week that celebrated its 25th Anniversary.

Burberry that showcased their collections in Milan for many years returned to London to make the celebration even brighter.

Trench coats were the main pieces in the Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

The trench has been reinvented and intended specifically for the 18- to 25-year-olds in the audience.

Beigh color is one of the trendiest at the moment and military motives are still fresh, so the Burberry trench will become something like a must-have for fashionistas all over the globe, and especially in England with its rainy weather.

Beside the trench, Burberry experimented with short dresses made of light airy fabrics. Materials were twisted, pleated and draped, something Burberry had never done.

The colors are all subdued: grey, mint green, lavender, rosy, yelowish, etc. Nothing was bright or catchy.

The whole collection gives the impression of luxe, glamour and calmness, and this is what it was meant for.

Cold seasons bring cold weather and necessity to wear warm clothes and comfortable outerwear.

And you always want to feel not only warm and comfortable but also stylish and showy.

This is very topical this autumn, when in spite of cold and gloomy days you still want to wear light dresses. The summer has gone and it’s time you turned your eyes to Fall/Winter 2009-2010 outerwear.

The autumn-winter coats, raincoats, , overcoats, fur coats, parka and others have to be warm and water-proof.

As we know, fashion trends make a comeback every now and then and many of past seasons’ styles return in new variations. For F/W 09-10 fashion designers have presented various colors, shapes and styles.

There are so many amazing coat shapes to choose from.

Colour way, classic, camel color is the most polygonal.

Belted coats are the smart style.

For everyday wear choose a quilted cover-up, and for high-fashion there is a great blanket coat, as seen at Vivienne Westwood, and Marc Jacobs.

Everyone knows that clothes are significant when you want to make the first impression. This doesn’t mean you can become more intelligent or talented if you wear good appropriate clothing but no one would ever argue on the fact that being overdressed is better than being underdressed. Just remember job interview situations when interviewers know whether they are going to hire you or not even before you open your mouth.

Man’s wardrobe should be as carefully and meticulously selected as the woman’s one. If it is perfect your business can work much better (but don’t rely on clothes only, do work a lot!!!!).

What I like about menswear is that the styles don’t change every season and you don’t need to rush for the last fashion innovations. You can buy something with the confidence of knowing that it’s going to be stylish a number of years and serve you well.

Don’t get hurt, but I am sure that very few men have good fashion judgment. So, to make a smart investment, I believe every man should have a clothing advisor. Traditionally, this person was a tailor, but now we call them clothiers.

To be able to work on a man’s wardrobe, the clothier has to understand his lifestyle, his budget and the way the man wants to express himself. You might not have enough finances to buy everything you need at once, but your advisor will help you to prioritize.

The questions below are the ones the clothier will ask you: What kind of situations do you find yourself in? Do you like trends or prefer a more classic look? Do you like to stand out or stay subtle? Answer them sincerely and your wardrobe will soon transform hugely!

What to wear when you feel unsure of what to wear

There are often situations when you may feel unsure of the garments you need to wear. The best choice is a suit. It shows respect and can never look too pretentiously if you chose severe accessories. The business suit has been with us for over 100 years and always worked. Any woman will tell you that a man looks powerful, authoritative and sexy in a suit.

Avoid buying the same color suits over and over again. To look interesting you need variety. You may own few suits, but if they are of different colors you can look fresh every day of the week.

Hermes surpassed all our expectation with their Fall 2009 collection on .

It was an absolute furor! Lots of propellers turning in the background, accompanied by soundtracks from Casablanca created necessary atmosphere for the presentation of aviator-inspired line by Jean Paul Gaultier for Autumn/Winter 2009-2010.

The luxury of rich materials including leather (that is a trend this season!), furs, suede, cashmere, knits, flannel, satin and other fabrics did its work and the garments presented were warmly approved by the fashion experts.

The color palette was rather dark and restrained to black, fuchsia, grey, violet, and brown. Though such moderation in color can be explained by the peculiarity of the motif – I have never seen a pilot wearing something bright!

The Hermes Fall 2009 range included long floor sweeping evening gowns, knitwear, long sheepskin or leather coats with fur trimming, leather military-style raincoats, hooded trench coats, satin or leather trousers, warm vests and gilets, classic ties, bomber , knee-length dresses, overalls, cardigans, long bell-shaped skirts, leather leggings and lots of other items.

I was amazed by the headwear each model was wearing. Pieces included were pilot hats with special glasses or leather bandannas. No one before Hermes had ever used such designs. Pretty unusual, isn’t it?

The fashion buying craze has occupied the minds of real vogue ladies on the threshold of warm spring. No doubts you’ll look fabulous in classic and new trends. However, the designers provoke us into the new purchases offering super trendy wardrobe basis – , trenches and classic rain-.

Let’s ponder over what to choose first!

Marc Jacobs presents his extra feminine coat-dress. It’s completely sensitive! Scarf-belt is an excellent decision for special evenings.

Comme des Garcons’s coat and dress are covered with the black petals that add some mystery to the image.

The trenches and from Yves Saint Laurent are a tender femininity. Black elegance decored with ornament or belt as an obligatory accessory stressing the thing waist. It’s always trendy!

Akris’s are classic for all seasons. Silhouette simplicity impresses with austere style. Minimum details. Gucci offers us the sort of youth collection full of short trenches in beige, white, khaki, grey palette. Lots of trendy details like sliders, fasteners, buckles and clasps.

created the thrilling image of an enigmatic woman using the silk, mousseline, pleats and flounces.

’s structural rain coat is in Vivienne’s vision. It’s complicated, strange and sexy! Appropriate for the red carpet and office day as well.

Chloe take us back to childhood with the flower prints and soft fabrics: flannel, cotton – fingering for the romantic and sentimental girls. MaxMara developed the collection of one-color & colorful ensembles with plain straight lines and knees-up-length.

But in my opinion glam trend leaders this season are D&G, Oscar de la Renta and . They combined greatly the sense of modesty, complexity, elegance and new fashion waves.

Read about outerwear for Fall 2009-Winter 2009-2010 here >>

A coat is the first thing others see of you and gain an impression of who you are.

We’ve taked about winter outwear trendsfor Fall 2008 >>

No doubt, are very important. To create the right impression we should follow the and avoid staying behind our time.

Here are trends for fall 2008 and winter 2009:

Cocoon

The cocoon look interesting though they aren’t new for us. Last year we saw quite many trapeze pyramid shapes. This year they are no longer popular and have transformed into more shapely cocoons. The hemlines and sleeves trimmed with fur or velvet make the silhouette look unusual and stylish.

Cocoon Coats Fall 2008

A-line

A-line are becoming more and more popular among women of fashion as they look pretty feminine. These have skirts that fall from softly controlled, gathered fullness, like these below.

A-line coats

Fur Trimming

Many that were shown on the runways were trimmed with fur. Fashion designers are using fur along hemlines, on collars, hoods, cuffs and also as decorative trims to open-front . A coat trimmed with fur always looks chic and gorgeous!

Fur trimming coats

Winter White Coat

White is always perfect if you are slim. And if you have details of embellishment or embroidery of the same coloration it inevitably looks terrific. White on white, cream on cream, taupe on taupe, black on black always creates an expensive look.

white coats

Leather & Fur Clothes

Leather and fur are among the looks of autumn 2008. Leather was used not only in but in dresses, biker jackets and skinny .

Leather coats

There were a lot of fur at the catwalk. Some of them were cut with precision. However, many designers used simple silhouettes to which drew attention to the material itself.

fur coat

Satin garments

It’s not just fur or leather that are fashionable materials this winter, but also satin and satinised fabrics. Designers created collections in both bold primary and secondary colours.

Satin fabrics of electric bright and super sleek neutral colours were popular on the runways.

Satin organza coats

Amongst bright warm colours, tomato red, teal and fuchsia and bright magenta were used to attract your attention this fall.

Colourful Bright

Bright colour is developing into a fashion trend in itself. There are so many colourful and cheerful colours on the catwalks this Autumn 2008.

bright coats

Key colours for autumn and winter include plenty of berry tones: pink, purple, aubergine blues, all kinds of red, magenta, rosy, claret, maroon, blackberry and puce.

These tints will be trendy for long as they look cute, feminine and youthful.

Military Style

Military trend is considered to be classic. Uniform makers love it very much as it instantly knocks some shape into the wearer, makes the wearer stand up straight, and gives the individual a better bearing to face the world.

military coats

If you purchase a coat of this style be sure it will be in fashion again and again.

Well, it’s time to buy a winter coat but before doing that check that you are wisely adding a classic to your wardrobe rather than slavishly following the very latest fashion trend. Fashion is good when trends fit you well. Keeping that in mind choose a coat that flatters your body shape and plays up your good points!

We’ve already taken a look at Fall 2008 footwear trends and it’s high time we checked main outerwear tendencies for the upcoming season. It’s worth noting that both foot and outerwear this fall borrow much from man’s fashion, though trying to keep things as feminine as possible. So balancing femininity and androgynous look is what this season’s outerwear trends are about.

Cropped leather jackets

Alexander McQueen cropped jacket

Biker vibe is in the air this autumn. Cropped jackets top the trend list. They look great with leather skirts, pencil skirts, skinny-legged pants or just voluminous skirts, floral print or neutral dresses. Add skyscraper heels, patent wedges, scarves, hats, and edgy accessories to complete your new city girl image.

As for top trend accessories this season, they are studs, spikes and chains. You can find them anywhere this fall, from purses to belts and ankle boots.

Alexander McQueen cropped jacket

Cropped jackets come in plaid as well. This way you can create a more sophisticated country-girl look. Again, accessories and suitable top trend clothes are essential.

Kate Moss cropped biker jacket

Military

Military is another top trend. Styles borrowed from Russian officer uniformed and jackets, Russia tsar-inspired accessories like brass buttons and shoulder epaulettes make the front fashion line. Cossack-style , shaggy fur hats and military caps are what you need this fall to look super hot and incredibly stylish.

In cases this kind of fashion experiments in not your type, you can turn to more traditional military look, like khaki , for instance.

You can pair your new military outerwear with a mini dress or a voluminous skirt.

Plaids and tartans

Plaid coat

Plaid are big in thing this fall. Add a pair of trendy rubber boots or stylish motorcycle boots, wear them with outfits with floral prints, and mismatch tweeds and plaids together for an edgy and tremendous style.

Jaeger london cocoon coat

Cashmere

It’s neo-’50s style. Elegant and sweet, cashmere make a comeback this autumn and winter. Designers like Peter Som, Michael Kors, and Diane von Furstenberg advise having your new cashmere coat in the palest of pastels.

Indian chic
