Introduced by the cable sports channel ESPN in 1993, the annual ESPY Awards allows sports fans worldwide to join in an online vote for their favorites in such categories as Best Male Athlete, Best Female Athlete, Best Coach/Manager, and Team of the Year.

A lot of 2008 Olympians and famous sportsmen, and celebrities came to the ESPN hosted awards at the the Nokia Theatre in Los Angele.

Samuel L. Jackson hosted the 2009 ESPY Awards, while such stars as Demi Moore, Rashida Jones and Zachary Quinto, and also Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Nastia Liukin, Dara Torres, Wyclef Jean, Misty May-Treanor and her beach volleyball partner Kerri Walsh, Bruce Jenner and his daughter Kendall Jenner, Kristi Yamaguchi, Jaime Pressly, Kendra Wilkinson, Hank Baskett, Kurt Warner and his wife Brenda Warner, Venus Williams, Candy Spelling, Anna Rawson, Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa Bryant, Jeff Gordon and his wife Ingrid Vandebosch and others attended.

Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr was super sexy in a white floor-grazing Calvin Klein halter. She took a white clutch and accessories with diamond-shaped earrings.

Marisa Miller made waves hairstyle and smoky eye makeup, and dazzled on the red capret in a simple white strapless dress from Dolce & Gabbana with a crystals belt and a pair of black peep toe pumps.

Demi Moore was in red too. She opted for Zac Posen Resort 2010 dress with open shoulders and revealing decolte. She presented the best male athlete award.

Rashida Jones looked hot in a white satin sheer panel dress.

2008′s Glamour Woman of the Year, Condoleeza Rice presented the best female athlete in the red dress by Oscar de la Renta with a fancy bow in the front, gold shoes and stylish big chain on her neck which is a must-have accessory for Autumn 2009.

Venus Williams and Serena Williams presented the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, both were in long gowns.

Serena Williams was amazing in the teal blue Roberto Cavalli gown. Venus Williams wore a print silk maxi dress by Mara Hoffman Spring 2009. She accessorized her look with a silver necklace and a coctail ring.

Jaime Pressly brightened it up in the Joey Tierney Couture adorable backless mini dress.

Dara Torres, winner of the best comeback award was in black dress and accessorized it with a giand watch on her left hand.

Nastia Liukin, winner of the best female athlete award, was amazing in silver one shoulder dress and bejewelled sandals.

Australian golf star Anna Rawson was spotted wearing a dress from the Donna Karan Collection.

I think Vanessa Bryant’s look was terrible! Too vulgar!

WNBA player Lisa Leslie was in a long black gown. She was neither super amazing nor plainly bad.

Expectant mom Kendra Wilkinson came out to support her husband, NFL star Hank Baskett of the Philadelphia Eagles in a gray long gown.

Swimmer Jessica Long looked as a Queen of the Sea in this navy embellished grecian dress.

Glamour magazine declares its annual Women of the Year homage with 10 special and inspirational winners who have made considerable contribution to the world of entertainment, business, sports, fashion, science, and politics.

Nicole Kidman has received Glamour Magazine Honors the 2008 Women of the Year.

Oscar-winning actress is using her star power as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNIFEM, the United Nations Development Fund for Women, where she is dedicated to raising awareness about violence against women, a human rights issue that affects as many as one in three women and girls worldwide.

The 41-year-old Aussie actress dressed in a white floor-grazing gownwith silver embroidery. She was so perfect.

Other winners of at 2008 year’s ceremony were Hillary Clinton and Jane Goodall, supermodel Tyra Banks,  athletes Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, artist Kara Walker, human rights Nujood Ali and Shada Nasser and Chanel CEO Maureen Chiquet.

Condoleezza Rice was named one of the Glamour magazine’s “Women of the Year” Monday night.

Condoleezza Rice — As U.S. Secretary of State, Rice has championed the rights and health of women around the world, and put women’s issues on the front burner of U.S. foreign policy. In 2008 she announced The One Woman Initiative, a $100 million effort to empower women in Muslim countries.

More uncommonly, the magazine also awarded its prize to human rights lawyer Shada Nasser and Nujood Ali.

Nujood Ali and Shada Nasser - With the help of human rights lawyer Shada Nasser, 10-year old Yemeni child bride Nujood Ali took the stand against her husband in court, and was granted a historic divorce. Together Nasser and Ali are committed to saving other little girls from early marriage.

Hillary Clinton – This year the New York Senator, already the first First Lady of the United States elected to major public office and the first woman elected independently statewide in New York State, became one of the first female candidates for President of the United States, earning 18-million votes. In addition to inspiring generations of women and girls with her presidential run, she continues to advocate for improved health care and opportunities for women and children.

Tyra Banks - One of television’s fiercest female-power icons, Banks promotes diverse beauty and realistic body images on her shows. Her charity, the TZONE Foundation, funds organizations that encourage and support young women.

Maureen Chiquet - As global CEO of the Chanel brand–and one of the few female CEO‘s of a major international corporation-Chiquet has pushed the company to new heights by extending the Chanel legacy.

Jane Goodall (Lifetime Achievement) – Revolutionary primatologist, Goodall has devoted her life to bridging the human and animal worlds starting with the groundbreaking chimpanzee behavioral research she began nearly 50 years ago, which continues today.
Through the global Institute that bears her name, she has established community-centered conservation and development programs in Africa. A UN Messenger of Peace, Goodall also created Roots & Shoots, an international humanitarian and environmental youth program.

Nobel Women’s Initiative –The NWI is made up of six of the seven living female Nobel Peace Prize laureates: Shirin Ebadi, Mairead Corrigan Maguire, Wangari Maathai, Rigoberta Menchu Tum, Betty Williams and Jody Williams.

Since 2006 these women have been using their clout with world leaders to get them to take a stand against violence and to work for peace and human rights for all people – especially women and children.

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh — These women have game. The beach volleyball duo have dominated the sport as the only beach volleyball players in history to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals–which they did without losing a single set.

Kara Walker — A world-renowned artist, Walker wrestles with this country’s legacy of slavery in her provocative black paper silhouettes that have been seen in museums around the world.

Also along of the nights events were celebrities like Natalie Portman, Kate Bosworth, Taylor Swift, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Debra Messing, Fergie, America Ferrera and many, many others.

There is one thing I can’t understand. Do they think Angelina Jolie doesn’t deserve the award?
