Antiseptic leather accessories lookbook for Spring/ Summer 2010 includes photos of really unusual pieces that I would rather call corsetry than accessories.

The items look interesting and very creative and they are obviously for the most confident of us. Some of the items can be worn in public as outwear and can become part of you personal style. But majority of the creations look more like items for seduction: sexy lacing, cutouts and even designs themselves.

She said:

I always get that panic when I step out of the car that everyone is going to hate it. I’ve had zippers that have broken too. Once when I was about to go on The Ellen Degeneres Show, my sister looked at the back of my legs and went ‘Ohmygod!’ I had a huge ladder up the back of my leg and the women on the show had to run around like chickens without their heads on to find me some new stockings.”

Emily has also revealed she doesn’t like corsets much as her body is left numb from wearing those. When she was starring in The Young Victoria she had to wear extremely restrictive corsets. She couldn’t feel her body during shooting.

However, practice helps and Emily has got used to this type of lingerie too and knows how to ease the discomfort from it.

She said:

I learned how to survive when they lace you tight. It takes getting used to. You must inhale so your rib cage expands. This way, after you’re all done up you can have room to breathe.”

We’ll talk later about its origin and changes it’s gone through. Now let’s take a view at the lingerie garments it has become the prototype to and at the corset itself.

First goes Corset of course.

Corset is the only many-centuries-history-lingerie that has successfully taken the changes and become an integral part of modern woman’s lingerie wardrobe.

Thanks to its functional peculiarities the item goes well for clothes for special occasions – evening gowns, bride dresses.

Corsets are typically constructed of a flexible material (like cloth, particularly coutil, or leather) stiffened with boning (also called ribs or stays) inserted into channels in the cloth or leather.

They are held together by lacing, usually (though not always) at the back. Tightening or loosening the lacing produces corresponding changes in the firmness of the corset.

The lingerie can be laced from the top down, from the bottom up, or both up from the bottom and down from the top, using two laces that meet in the middle. However, many corsets also had a buttoned or hooked front opening called a busk.

Corset may also include garters to hold up stockings. As an alternative a separate garter belt may be worn for that.

Longline Bra

Longline bra is also constructed of the lined molded cups and underwire support. But unlike the corset the longline bra doesn’t have any lacing. Usually a hooked front opening is placed on the back. Longline bra is also of non-binding torso band for extra hold.

This beautiful underwear sometimes is of the fashionable low back design. This longline design features the hidden underwires that add shape and a smooth silhouette.

Bustier

A bustier (alternately bustiere) is an article of clothing for women, which is form-fitting and is traditionally worn as lingerie. It looks somewhat like a Basque, but a bustier is shorter. It reaches down only to the ribs or the waist and has a different function.

The bustier is a multi-purpose garment and doubles as a push-up bra for inner wear and as a camisole for outer wear. The bustier can also be worn as a half-slip under diaphanous upper garments if a bold display of the midriff is not desired.

A classic bustier is strapless, though there are myriad variations on the bustier theme, some of which do include straps (removable, off-the-shoulder, spaghetti and so on).
Modern bustiers are often made with mesh panels rather than boning.

Bustiers are traditionally tightened at the back via zig-zag lacing (lace, string, leather or ribbon), hook and eye closures and/or zippers, but these closures can prove challenging when dressing alone. Many bustiers are now made with front closures for the do-it-yourselfer.

Bustiers come in just about any fabric: velvet, cotton, leather, Lycra, denim, PVC, urethane and even tarpaulin.

Bustiers make the perfect undergarment for strapless dresses and gowns as they not only support the chest but tend to slim the waist as well.

Body Shirt.

Body shirt looks like a swimsuit with press studs or hooks. Some of the variations are in the comb with the garters for stockings. You can find the body shirt sport styled and very feminine as well.

The bra of the body shirt may be of various constructions either: push-ups, strapless that allows putting it on with the different garment necks. Body shirt made of elastic (smooth or lace) shapes the figure greatly.

Shape wear Camisole

A rather new camisole category that continues to grow is the shape wear camisole. It appeared when the body shirt joined the stockings. A shape wear cami is form-fitting with support knit in.

You can put on a shape wear camisole and instantly look smoother, thinner and firmer all the way down to hips.

There is even a shape wear camisole with underwires. These camis can be worn in place of a bra in many cases.

When choosing the corset, bustier, longline bra, body shirt or shape wear camisole weigh the pros and cons. You should know for sure what you need and how it’s going to fit you.
