Derek Lam’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection was inspired by Japanese guys’ street fashion which predetermined the silhouettes and color palette as well as details of clothing. Mannish cropped jackets decorated with fur in the collar area, austere shirts, straight pants and sleeveless sheaths generally make the collection.

But Derek Lam’s Pre-Fall 2012 range would look too boring if feminine and sexy items weren’t added. Chic floor-length dresses were amazing and would look great at any big event. A blue printed cocktail dress was simple but versatile and hugely practical piece. Leather skirts in both black and red looked fierce.

Heeled shoes in Derek Lam’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection are also far from being romantic. They are stylish and sexy but lack delicacy. As for the shiny gold oxfords, they look totally fantastic!

Kirsten Dunst isn’t either the most beautiful or glamorous woman in Hollywood. But she knows that with a bit of help from professionals she can become the real queen of the red carpet. She was wise enough to ask for stylists’ assistance in creating the perfect look for the launch of Bulgari’s Le Gemme Eyewear Collection at Ilori Boutique.

Kirsten Dunst, who has attended a few premieres of her latest film Melancholia in different world capitals recently, looked stunning in a Derek Lam white silk viscose crepe cady gown with a tile embroidery inset back. She finished her look with a glittering clutch and lovely shoes.

The range of purses was created to be carried like clutches because the designer said he liked it a lot when girls used their wallets instead of handbags.

Alexander Wang commented:

I’ve always loved when girls carry their wallets as a clutch instead of a bag. It’s inspired the look of the show and the collection itself.”

So, if you liked the pieces from his Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 runway show you would want to add those to your wardrobe. You can do it quite easy actually, and without any auction. Prices start at $235 for the compact Quillon, soaring up to $525 for the ponyskin Zelmira design.

Alexander Wang isn’t the first designer to sell his creations on Ebay. Previously Narciso Rodriguez and Derek Lam already used this technique.

Pumps and stilettos. Despite all hot discussions about how harmful stilettos and pumps are there will always be women ready to sacrifice their health for beauty and elegance. Therefore, such shoes will always be trendy. For Spring/ Summer 2011 high-heeled shoes come in a great variety of colors, from crazy and eye popping hues to reserved and even dull tones.

Flats. Flats are generally perceived as unsexy and focused basically on the comfort of the woman wearing those. However, judging by Spring/ Summer 2011 designer collections flats have become more glamorous and attractive and this makes those more versatile. Chanel, Prada, 3.1 Philip Lim, Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Vivienne Westwood, and Chloé have all featured flatform shoes in their Spring/ Summer 2011 ranges. First of all I’d like to say that gloves themselves are a hot trend this season and designers paid lots of attention to them.

Gloves are incorporated into many outfits and certainly add much sophistication and glamour to them. So, what is going to be top fashionable this fall and winter?

1. Leather gloves. I don’t think you are surprised to know that, because leather gloves are always in style.

They are classic and if you want to have a pair to be appropriate now and ten years later this is exactly what you need.

Besides, there are various designs for you to choose from. The only thing to limit your choice is that all pairs of this season are rather long, they never end right at your wrist!

I love the style Zac Posen offered – long over-elbow clinging gloves, they look really perfect.

Elbow-length gloves also look great.

Those which are a bit shorter than that are presented in a huge variety: different colors, fingerless, tight or loose-fitting gloves.

Derek Lam suggested reptile leather to make gloves from. The idea is interesting, isn’t it?

2. Suede gloves. Suede gloves aren’t as practical as leather ones but they do look as beautiful!

Again lots of colors and designs give as a great opportunity to find the very pair we want.

Ralph Lauren offers us classic styles while Carolina Herrera and Derek Lam show more street-like and casual styles.

3. Velvet gloves. If you wish to add chic to your wardrobe select a pair of velvet gloves. Elegant and sexy, they are appropriate for different occasions.

4. Satin gloves. They weren’t presented in plenty in designers’ collections but I decided they deserve your attention.

5. Lace gloves. If we have already started talking about gloves to pair an evening gown we should certainly mention lacy gloves.

They are so tender, so cute.

Some are made in a quite sheer fabric, others are highly patterned.

6. Short mannish gloves. For girls who don’t like feminine items these are just the right option.

7. Knitted gloves. Winter is a cold season and knitted gloves will do your hands good. And they look pretty too!

The fall catwalks were rich in lace, from Milan, Paris, London and New York. Lace is popular in all shapes and forms, from lace-covered purses and shoes, to lace dresses, skirts and even coats.

Miucca Prada described lace as the most significant material in a woman’s life that accompanies her from birth to death. The couturier confessed that she never really liked lace but wanted to see if she could make it modern by taking the old connotations away. And she could!

She’d found a piece of lace in her studio and had an idea to revive this old-fashion fabric by using ultra-modern shapes. As a result, lace was used in almost the entire collection. And it looks really great, sharp and exquisite with an antique feel, from layered lace to transparent outfits in on-trend sculpted shapes.

Lace fabrics used in creation of fall/winter collections come in various tints: black, brown, bronze, blue, and silver. This season’s designs take on architectural proportions with lots of volume and bold styling.

All these outfits are a far cry from the delicate and girlie images of the past. We have to forget about delicate lacy lingerie textures that used to be so fashionable in our grandma’s times. This season’s lace is heavy and tough, pretty similar to the texture of rope.

When choosing to wear lace you should keep in mind two basic things: steer clear of wearing lace from head to toe, it can look tacky, and keep accessories to a minimum.

Lace is delicate, romantic and mysterious. Besides, it keeps us right-on-trend this season. So, dear ladies, go for it and find a garment that will make you look magnificent!
