Another viewpoint on the problem of size zero in fashion gives famous Canadian model . The beauty claims she has been rejected for ‘being too fat’.

Coco Rocha

The girl says she isn’t invited to walk the runway because many designers think she needs to lose more weight to fit the clothes they create. Despite being 7st 7lbs (UK dress Size 6) she is considered too big…

Miss Rocha has made her comments this week after participating in where she was modelling for .

I’m not in demand for the shows anymore,’ she said. ‘I’ve been told to lose weight when I was really skinny.’

The model is just one of the few colleagues who speaks openly against the demand for models to be zero-sized. And her opinion is fully justified as we all heard about two recent deaths of models Luisel Ramos and her sister Eliana.

Luisel, 22, passed away in the result of a heart attack during a fashion week in Uruguay in 2006. She had to live on a diet of green leaves and diet coke for three months to get ready for the catwalk show. Her sister Eliana,18, was also a model. She died from malnutrition six months later in 2007.

diane von furstenberg

The designer, who is the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, says she wanted to support young designers and when the twins showed her their creations she immediately decided to help them. Despite the fact many of the industry’s big names objected, Diane has never regretted her decision.

She said:

When I became president I wanted to create a support group for designers – young or old. Mary-Kate and Ashley take their fashion very seriously. I was very surprised when I saw their line. It’s very impressive.”

Charity is a simple way to help people in need. It’s great if you do it not for PR but because you are truly compassionate and generous.

A group of world-famous designers were asked to help raise money for a charity organisation that deals with homeless families and women who lost everything but want to get back on their feet.

The task was easy and creative – just right for a designer – to decorate small papier-mâché houses which would later be sold on auction.

Among those who found time and desire to help were , Issak Mizrahi, , , Donna Karan, Victoria and David Beckham, Justin Timberlake and lots of other celebrities who had hardly ever dealt with designing but wanted to do something useful for people who suffer.

The houses that we got in the result were pretty little things – colorful and spirited – which might go under a Christmas tree.

vera wang house

’s house was the most delicate and exquisite. The designer decorated it with lace, crystals, and flowers. Very nice to look at!

issac mizrahi house

made the cutest house. He used a lot of pink and sparkle.

oscar de la renta house

’s house is simple but sophisiticated just like his clothes – nothing looks out of place.

Diane Von Furstenberg’s new perfume D Eau de Parfum is something women would not like to wear since it makes people around feel unwell.

The scent problem appeared when the designer decided to make everyone know about her new scent by pumping the fragrance from the air vents at her store in the city’s fashion-forward Meatpacking District.

The reaction was far from what had been expected. People claimed they started feeling bad after walking past the store.

One woman told the New York Post newspaper:

I literally got dizzy from this. It is putrid, awful, something you’d find on a 60-year-old matron.
“She has got some nerve wafting this out of her store. There is a point at which these peoples’ egos and chutzpah absolutely begin to take over any sense of reality or consideration for other people.”

Another woman said the scent is so overpowering outside the exclusive West 14th Street boutique that she thinks someone might fall ill.

is a highly talented designer and her new collection has just proves that once again.

The Resort line was inspired by Brazil and “neighboring lands”. And the result is fun, feisty and very hot.

The dresses are short and sensual, some come with one shoulder, and are kept to a party palette of tropical hues: green, yellow, orange, azure, pink, red.

Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf), the star of popular Gossip Girl was photographed for by Terry Richardson. The pics are very bright and colorful.

Diane Von Furstenberg dress, $385, and hat.

Some quotes from the interview:

Blair’s style influence on her personal style:

Not at all. If anything, it’s the opposite. Her style is a little expensive for my taste, but it loudly communicates that she is who she is and that she does what she does. I find that admirable. And she’s always dressed appropriately, which I can’t always say about myself.”

About making movies:

Well, first I’m going on a much-deserved vacation. Then I’m starting work on a comedy called Date Night with Steve Carell and Tina Fey. I play the babysitter and they go out for a date one night and everything goes awry. After that I’m starring in this crazy movie called The Roommate, which is directed by Christian Christiansen and is sort of a re-telling of Single White Female. I’m the emotionally detached narcissist, but it’s early days and I still don’t know who’s playing the psycho opposite me.”

Left pic: dress, $7,800. Deborah Marquit bra, $165. Bvlgari bracelet.

Yes, it’s the Little White Dress that I’m talking about! It comes as an alternative for the classic and exceptionally elegant Little Black Dress. We all know that LBD is a sophisticated classics that looks well both at a prom and a formal dinner.

But when we think about spring that is already with us, LBD is something you probably want to forget about. Black is great and it’s chic but it seems too dull in spring and summer when everything is so bright and lively.

What designers want to offer to us is another classic – it’s going to be called LWD or Little White Dress!

Many couturiers have introduced this optimistic color to make us forget about all those problems we are experiencing today, I mean the economic recession that is always on our minds.

Besides, white is extremely feminine and very flirty. Wearing it you will always look perfect!

But what is LWD like? Basically it’s just a white dress with the skirt no longer than a knee point. It can be of any style, with any kind of embellishment or adornment.

Modern collections include nice examples of laconic minimalism. Minimalism means minimum details of any type, a simple, modest but still beautiful dress.

Look at Calvin Klein and MaxMara dresses shown below. Very simple designs, no pleats, ruffles or embellishments, just pure sophistication.

Another good example of a little white dress is a nice plain dress with tiny prints or little embroidery: Alexander Wang and . Despite the fact the dresses may seem too ordinary they look very elegant.
