Versace collection for Fall 2010 unveiled during Milan Fashion Week looks nice and elegant as everything from Versace. It inludes lots of signature Versace short-and-tight dresses as well as long gowns with high splits. But it does have lots of innovative pieces that add glamour to the line.

Donatella Versace obviously took a new route and abandoned the pastel-colored goddess drapery that she used in her Spring 2010 range. Maybe it’s due to the modern tendency to minimalism, pragmatic daywear, and longer lengths, that the designer changed her habitual way of creating things.

There is more about tailoring this time. Combining various fabrics and diverse colors Donatella was able to make beautiful and sophisticated ensembles. Separate geometric pieces of material were zippered together, half-short, half-long skirt were put into same sets and in the result we have pretty garments that are perfect for young people to wear.

Donatella Versace thinks modern models are similar to robots. In her opinion, fashion world needs more exciting supermodels.

The designer is sure that beauties of nowadays lack the personality and egos that their predecessors had.
She told LOVE magazine:
There is not enough ego! Now is a bad moment. They are like robots. Now we need something. We need a special personality. We need to feed the egos of these girls. Somebody like Kristen McMenamy who had a huge ego. Beautiful.”
Donatella has a good memory of the 90s supermodels like Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista and Kristen McMenamy and reckons they brought lots of entertainment to the fashion industry.
She said:
When a new girl came along, oh my God, it was like a war. Like Kate, she was 16 the first time I booked her for Avedon, and she was put among all of these monsters, these big girls like Linda and Kristen. And she was just 16. She was like this, ‘Can I go out and buy cigarettes?’ ‘No, sit there – I will get you cigarettes!’ “
The time was touch, now it is better but the models do look like each other at the moment. Donatella seems to be right to a certain extent.

Giorgio Armani has been nominated for a position of an Italian “senator for life”.
It was Santo Versace, the chairman of the Versace empire, who offered the new role to the fashion designer despite all the talks about the rivalry between the two Italian houses. Santo said it was an absolutely deserved honor.

He explained:
There is nobody that deserves it more or who better represents our country. He has earnestness, creativity and excellence. Armani embodies the beauty of Italy, the country the way we would like to see it represented around the world, and where meritocracy is fully applied.”
Donatella Versace, the creative director of the fashion house, is behind the nomination.
She said it was a brilliant idea, fantastic and that I should do everything I can to promote it,” Santo said.
Giorgio Armani hasn’t commented on his nomination yet. But if he chooses politics there is no way he could keep on working in fashion. So, we might soon lose one of the most talented designers.
At any one time in Italy there can be no more than five “senators for life”, alongside the 315 elected senators.
