There is a number of designers I will admire forever: Karl Lagerfeld, Alberta Ferretti, Zuhair Murad, John Galliano, Donna Karan and of course Oscar de la Renta. These people are real masters in what they do. Every collection, every piece, every detail they create is unique and perfect. And we can only wonder where all that comes from, how a person can design things which are always different and attractive. Oscar de la Renta’s collection I would like to tell you about now is for Pre-Fall 2012 and it is beyond amazing.

Oscar de la Renta signature elegant style is seen through every item. Floor-length dresses made of perfect-looking silk, printed cocktail dresses as well as those with pleats and sequin details, knitted cardigans and straight-silhouette coats, and of course wide-leg trousers which have been with us for two seasons make the flawless de la Renta’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

Accessory line in Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 collection includes belts with buckles adorned with colorful crystals, elaborate chunky necklaces and earrings, sexy polka dot pantyhose, and dressy evening clutches. Shoes were beautiful but comfortable. No pumps were actually shown. Instead, the designer demonstrated a collection of lovely loafers, and shoes with chunky heels.

There are lots of issues in our world that cause controversies, and plenty of those relate to the fashion industry. Using a younger model to promote women’s clothing, wearing fur, or even smoking a cigarette are all considered to be potentially risky. Donna Karan’s Spring 2012 campaign with Adriana Lima seemed to me pretty normal. But some people noticed something racist in it. Ridiculous!

Adriana Lima looks gorgeous and fierce on images for Donna Karan Spring 2012 ad campaign which was inspired by the designer’s charitable trip to Haiti right after the earthquake that shook the island last year. The controversy arises from one of the three photos where the model poses with two kids on the left. Kids are said to be local Haitians, so their skin is naturally dark. Lima, being Brazilian, has lighter skin. And according to some people the contrast in skin color has clear racist undertones.

One commenter wrote:

Am I the only one getting racist/imperialistic vibes from the s
econd image? I know the inspiration is Haiti but it’s unsettling imo.”

Another commented:

While Adriana looks fierce and maybe a bit too fierce the other people in the picture looks sort of scared. I get from the picture a not so sweet relationships between the white girl and the black people.”

For me all these comments are total nonsense. People just want to find something to nag at. What do you think?

The three main characters – Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson – all attended the premiere of appeared on the black carpet of the Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part I premiere. While guys looked smart and elegant in their slimline suits Kristen sparkled in a floor-length J.Mendel gown with an impressive split on the leg.

Ashley Greene opted for a red Donna Karan dress which looked fabulous on her. Scarlet lips and nail polish finished the look perfectly. The dress featured the now trendy floral print.

Another vampire girl Nikki Reed attended the premiere of the Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part I in a luxurious chiffon Marchesa gown with beautiful beading.

Elizabeth Reaser went natural for the big premiere. She chose a simple glitzy dress which shows her cleavage best. Her on-screen husband Peter Facinelli also attended the event.

Kellun Lutz arrived to the Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part I premiere with his new girlfriend, Australian actress Sharni Vinson, who looked stunning in a red gown.

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt struck a few sultry poses on the black carpet. She donned a sexy green satin dress to the event.

The younger Kardashian sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner also were in attendance at the Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part I premiere. Both looked stylish and glamorous.

It’s time for Resort 2012 ad campaigns to pour out! New Fendi girl Natasha Poly was photographed by multitalented designer Karl Lagerfeld. The model posed in the bright yellow background leaning against or embracing a nude statue. The beauty looked fresh and stylish in brand’s clothing. The outfit that comprises a white dress and a pair of strappy sandals was the most attractive.

Gucci Resort 2012 campaign featuring two models – a male and a female – was much softer and pleasant to the eye. The couple was photographed near a white wall with a plant with bright purple leaves. Garments both monotone and with stripy or zebra prints were vivid and interesting.

Donna Karan has released just one pic so far and it features gorgeous Karlie Kloss in a mesmerizing red dress posing in three different ways.

The last to mention here is Prada Resort 2012 ad campaign. Shot by Steven Meisel Prada girl Lea Seydoux looked amazing wearing sexy lacy dresses. Each image pictured her with delicate flower necklaces and bracelets as well with one or numerous clutch bags in her hands.

Although personally I prefer elegance and sophistication when it comes to fashion sometimes simplicity and comfort are what we actually need. And there was a lot of that in DKNY Spring/ Summer 2012 collection showcased during New York Fashion Week.

Donna Karan opted for simple flowing silhouettes, light fabrics and beautiful accessories. Shirt-dresses looked feminine while summery short suits and sleeveless jacket-inspired dress reminded that women’s and men’s fashion tend to merge in our days.

The colors in DKNY Spring/ Summer 2012 collection were lovely: from neutral black and white to vivid blue, red and pink. Prints were also present– florals that were smudged to the extent one would take them for animal prints.

Every look in her in DKNY Spring/ Summer 2012 collection Donna Karan finished with a wide-brimmed hat. These hats when monotone looked classy but when colorblocked added the necessary accent to outfits.

Speaking of Oscar de la Renta I just have to tell you about his Spring/ Summer 2012 collection. I would be wrong to say it was impressive, because the range was much more than that. Dresses came in a variety of soft colors with delicate pink and yellow, light green and blue dominating. And there was lots of white which would definitely be a big trend in spring. Ballgowns had skirts in emerald green, golden and scarlet red hues.

Oscar de la Renta Spring/ Summer 2012 collection featured plenty of lace and frills, restrained prints and fantastic embroidery. Knitwear pieces were also showcased and they were almost as elegant as suits and cocktail dresses.

Besides dresses Oscar de la Renta presented a few high-waited trousers and exquisite blouses which often came accessorized with airy scarves.

Shoe line in Oscar de la Renta’s Spring/ Summer 2012 collection wasn’t very diverse. It was limited to four or five styles which were presented in several colors. Laced ankle boots looked great but I didn’t like the way they were paired with dresses. Strappy sandals and shoes with see-through panels looked classier.

Jewelry, bags and belts were made with the idea of flowers in mind which was realized in different interpretations.

Red was a really hot color at 2011 Emmy Awards. And it was Nina Dobrev who wore it best. The Vampire Diaries star opted for a luxurious Donna Karan gown from Resort 2012 collection.

Lea Michele also sported a red dress. Her perfect choice is Marchesa. Those rosettes on sleeves look so feminine!

Kate Winslet’s Elie Saab floor-length gown is simpler in designer than the two previous designer creations but it looked no less glamorous.

Kerry Washington‘s dress by Zuhair Murad was the reddest of all red dresses at the 2011 Emmy Awards. It looked like it was burning!

Sofia Vergara decided to go for a softer hue and chose caramel pink to wear at the glam event. The actress looked fantastic in her asymmetrical attire.

Pastel tones were also popular at the 2011 Emmys. Heidi Klum’s Christian Siriano dress turned heads at the ceremony. The supermodel looked stunning in it as she posed with her husband – Seal.

Christina Hendricks arrived at the 2011 Emmys in a shining Johanna Johnson dress.

Jayma Mays’ gown was the most feminine and cute on the red carpet.

Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss appeared at the 2011 Emmy Awards in a sumptuous Marchesa dress which she accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Christian Louboutin shoes.

Zooey Deschanel was one of the presenters at the 2011 Emmys. The actress wore Monique Lhuillier’s orchid silk faille gown from the Resort 2012 collection.

Gwyneth Paltrow, who is usually wise at choosing red carpet dresses, for the 2011 Emmy Awards mae a slight fashion faux pas by wearing a see-through number by Pucci.

Kelly Osbourne looked wonderful in a J. Mendel full gown. But something was definitely wrong with her hair color.

Katie Holmes opted for elegance at the 2011 Emmys. The Kennedies star arrived at the ceremony in an blue Calvin Klein dress.

Olivia Munn’s emerald green gown looked beautiful.
