Rebecca Taylor has beautiful sketches for her new collection that will be presented at New York Fashion week September 5 2008. It lets us know that Boho will be the buzz word for her Spring 2009 collection!  It’s enough anticipation to make a fashionista jump out of her stilettos!

These sketches are from Lake Hopatcong native Dennis Basso and Tadashi.

The interplay of modern architecture with geometric shapes creates streams of light that to me, resonate with purity and create an ethereal effect. these intricate shapes are signature elements in my collection. We’ve already taken a look at Fall 2008 footwear trends and it’s high time we checked main outerwear tendencies for the upcoming season. It’s worth noting that both foot and outerwear this fall borrow much from man’s fashion, though trying to keep things as feminine as possible. So balancing femininity and androgynous look is what this season’s outerwear trends are about.

Cropped leather jackets

Biker vibe is in the air this autumn. Cropped jackets top the trend list. They look great with leather skirts, pencil skirts, skinny-legged pants or just voluminous skirts, floral print or neutral dresses. Add skyscraper heels, patent wedges, scarves, hats, and edgy accessories to complete your new city girl image.

As for top trend accessories this season, they are studs, spikes and chains. You can find them anywhere this fall, from purses to belts and ankle boots.

Cropped jackets come in plaid as well. This way you can create a more sophisticated country-girl look. Again, accessories and suitable top trend clothes are essential.

The great thing about cropped jackets this fall is that they are different and suit all age groups. And thanks to celebrities like Kate Moss, Elle Macpherson, Amy Winehouse, Paris Hilton and Victoria Beckham this trend is hotter than ever.

Military Coats

Military is another top trend. Styles borrowed from Russian officer uniformed coats and jackets, Russia tsar-inspired accessories like brass buttons and shoulder epaulettes make the front fashion line. Cossack-style coats, shaggy fur hats and military caps are what you need this fall to look super hot and incredibly stylish.

In cases this kind of fashion experiments in not your type, you can turn to more traditional military look, like khaki coats, for instance.

You can pair your new military outerwear with a mini dress or a voluminous skirt.

Plaids and tartans

Plaid coats are big in thing this fall. Add a pair of trendy rubber boots or stylish motorcycle boots, wear them with outfits with floral prints, and mismatch tweeds and plaids together for an edgy and tremendous style.

Cocoon coats

Cinched-waist coats are a thing of the past. Designers including Marc Jacobs and Narciso Rodriguez create cocoon-like shapes. Pairing such a coat with stockings, boots, heels, or wedges makes your legs seem long and lean.

Cashmere coats

It’s neo-’50s style. Elegant and sweet, cashmere coats make a comeback this autumn and winter. Designers like Peter Som, Michael Kors, and Diane von Furstenberg advise having your new cashmere coat in the palest of pastels.

Indian chic

Pocahontas-and-the-like-inspired motives and patterns are also top fashion. You can find them in outerwear, dresses, waists, and skirts. Pair your new coat with tall cuffed, slouch, or motorcycle boots.

Draped jersey, slinky silks and seductive chiffon are this summer’s most fluid styles to follow. Bright colors, fancy prints, and elegant but funky styles will make you outstandingly beautiful whether you visit a bash, go on a date, or glam it up on the red carpet.

Draping. Fashion trends turn to light airy silhouettes. There’re less body fitting garments you see this season, styles turn to be more Greek goddess like. A lot of draping and a lot of jersey. Flower prints. As we’ve already mentioned before, bright flower print dresses are a big in thing this summer. They look playful and fancy, they’re light and will stress your suntan or help you look svelte and slender, if necessary.

Ruffles. Ruffles are a perfect choice for a girly look. This dress makes you a sensual princess of a fairy land. All light, sexy, young, and beautiful. Ruffle it up a bit!

Brights. Bright dresses are popular and trendy. May they be made of silk, or satin, or chiffon, they will definitely attract everyone’s attention making you look sunny, and will also add a touch of fresh air on the dog days of summer. Use all trendy summer accessories to complete a summer look. Dog days may also be fun!

The first school day is the first appearance you have after three months. You need to make it a good one, because first impressions matter.

If you don’t have school uniform then remember some things:

• Keep clothes and accessories classic and simple, nothing in-your-face or over the top.
• It’s normal to be a trendy. You have to adapt the trends to your personal  fashion style, or you’ll end up looking like a major trend-chaser.
• Be confident of success! If you don’t feel like it, fake it. When you aren’t doubting yourself, no one else will doubt you or your dresses choices.

It’s all about hot color combinations for Back to School 2008. This fashion season, choose bright colors like fuchsia and jewel-tones and pair them up with dark hued basics for a big punch of color. Also 2008 color combinations consist of rich green with navy, fuchsia with black, turquoise with chocolate brown, red and yellow. Taking this look is easy. Just get pair of these colors up yourself or look for patterns that incorporate popular color combinations. When you choose patterns, you can go graphic with big, bold designs like bright color blocks, batik prints, exaggerated stripes.

Colorful Tops

2008 Back to School season is all about bold color mixed with neutrals. Go for rich, saturated hues that pop against dark denim and neutral basics. Choose tops that feature fun cuts like bubble hems, interesting sleeves, empire waists and more. Be happy and get girly with bows, rushing, volume, ruffles and feminine details.

Dresses

For a chic look, choose solid dresses in bright colors or go big with a graphic print in contrasting colors. Dresses are an easy way to look beautiful and fashionable.

Dark Denim

In 2008 denim is as popular as ever. Especially dark colors. From skinny jeans to wide-leg trouser jeans. All fashion styles look great for Back to School.

Leggings are still stylish for  this year. Wear them under skirts, dresses, tunics, babydoll tops and trapeze tops. Choose leggings in dark black and brown and pair them up with brightly colored tops.

The accessories

Don’t forget about accessories. The perfect belt & shoe combo, and jewelry is required for any nice look. These are three things that you need to fully accessorize this school year:

1. Fringe suede belt. It adds a country girl chic to hip huggers and a sleek tee.



2. Turquoise. There can be nothing better than a turquoise necklace to remind you of blue waters of the sea and the great summer vac you’ve just had.



3. Chandelier earrings. Elegant, yet easy to pull off. These earrings look gorgeous and great with both an evening dress and a denim outfit.

Flat Shoes

Finish your back to school look off with a nice pair of flat shoes.  Choose a fun patterned slip-on shoe or get romantic with a strappy sandal. Ballet flats continue to rule girls’ foot fashion and are still a great choice for Fall 2008.

Designers often turn to warm tones for fall fashion, but this season the fall fashion is totally outstanding in what refers to color trends. They come from the cool end of the color palette – purple, blue, green, with pops of warm colors like red, orange, and yellow. By the way, black remains the go-to basic.
So here are some tips from fall 2008 color trend fashion for autumn.

Black

Eternally chic, forever classic, many designers pick black for their fall collections, and there will be no lack of choices in black clothes for the upcoming fall and winter.

Here are some ways to wear black for fall 2008:

1. head-to-toe black – which can be an easy way for petites to look taller
2. black and white – but keep in mind to wear creamy, rather than bright white
3. black with another trend color of the season – wear black with blue, green, purple, red, or yellow
4. little black dress

There is one rule you should follow when turning to black as your color – you must look good in black.

Purple

Purple takes center stage for fall dressing. It’s a rich, strong hue that will look good with black, green, or yellow accessories. Dark purple floral prints will be in this fall.

If you don’t feel purple is your color you can just add a touch of purple by wearing a purple purse, for instance.

Blue

Blue colors come in bright blue, clear blue, turquoise blue, and navy blue, so you have a wide range of hues to choose from. You’ll also find blue in cool floral prints as well as handbags.

Green

You’ll be able to find green in checks and plaids, florals, and ombres this season. A shade of teal can be an option if you tend to using softer hues.

Red

All you gotta do is choose your hue of red. If you look best in cool colors, try one of the pink reds or a purple red, instead of an orangey red. If you favor warm tones, look for tomato red this fall. Strong warm colors of orange and yellow will also look chic.

A few designers combine red with a black and creamy white combination for fall. Ralph Lauren showed a coat with a black/white/red color combination in a Native American inspired design, and Betsey Johnson designed a dress with a cream background, black stripe, and red print motif on its skirt.

Sexy singer Jessica Simpson is adding a dresses fashion line to her growing fashion brand.

Jessica’s already been selling swimsuits, lingerie, shoes, eyewear, purses, jewelry, clip-in hair extensions, bath and body care products for a few years. The shoes are expected to reach $250 million in retail sales this year.

Jessica Simpson tells WWD,

I’m extremely excited”

The new dress collection will be out in the spring of 2009.  A fuller range of products is expected next fall. I’ve surfed around but there doesn’t appear to be any examples of  Jessica’s dresses out yet.

Simpson said,

I’m extremely excited to be expanding into the dress market. I plan on creating beautiful dresses in distinctive fabrics and silhouettes that are reflective of my personal style and offer something special to the marketplace.”

Vivienne Westwood just presented her Anglomania collection during Berlin’s Fashion Week. As usual, we were wow’ed by the Great Dame of fashion. There’s no show like a Vivienne show!

Vivienne’s spring/summer 2009 collection combines elements of punk culture with her latest vision inspired by Ancient Greece. Black tee-shirts bearing the word Berlin and decorated with 80s-style badges, vibrant shift dresses, metallic puffball skirts and diamond-print bum bags were presented on the catwalk. Moreover, a puffball dress with buttoned bodice and sliced-open sleeves became one of the show’s highlights.

The high-spirited collection, targeted towards a younger more casual costumer, was the ideal way to finish off the week. Bold colours, draped jersey, and loud prints, mixed with elements of Greek antiquity and Westwood’s punk roots.

Vivienne opted for grape prints for a lot of items of her collection from casual white tee-shirts to the puffball dress.

Westwood’s extravagance filled the show and every single bit of it. Her models, instead of making a traditional catwalk show, were dancing and skipping their way along the runway.

Generally, the show was a great success with the crowd, which gave the British fashion icon a standing ovation.
The label’s co-designer Christopher Di Pietro said,

It’s become a really big business and with that has come a lot of seriousness, a lot of fun has been taken out of it. It should be fun. I mean, what’s not to like about seeing beautiful girls wearing beautiful clothes?”
