I love prints, especially florals. The more the better. So, it’s not surprising that Printed Maiden photoshoot from Elle Greece February 2012 issue starring Natalia Zakharova looked so appealing to me.

Photographed by Dimitris Skoulos for Elle Greece the model looks amazing in all the outfits she wears for the shoot. And she wears quite a lot. As far as I can recognize the designer pieces Natalia is dressed in Mary Katrantzou trouse suit, D&G and Pucci maxi dresses, Blumarine lovely mini finished with flip flops and a cap from the same collection, leather pencil skirt with a car pattern by Prada, Iceberg and Dsquared2 pieces, and Missoni swimsuit.

My favorite photo is the one with Natalia Zakharova posing in Blumarine short dress printed with blue flowers. The model is laughing and looks really great.

After mud stomping Dsquared2 Spring/ Summer 2012 show Pre-Fall 2012 colorful but clean collection seems like a good change. Describing their range as ‘Good girl gone bad’ designers Dan and Dean Caten show us a stylish lady with a smart look and a cigarette in her hand. She looks beautiful and fashionable wearing cropped pants and tailored shirts, some with bowties, cardigans with geometrical prints, chick evening jackets, and even tuxedos.

There are a few really amazing dresses in Dsquared2 Pre-Fall 2012 collection: two elegant little black dresses, a lovely color-blocking one, an asymmetrical midnight blue dress and a totally luxurious cobalt blue sheath dress with sash-tied back.

The look that impresses in Dsquared2 Pre-Fall 2012 collection is a black-and-nude mini with a leather skirt and a perforated top. Shoes were amazing too – classic shape, mid-length heel, and fantastic variety of colors and fabrics.

By ‘classic’ hat we imply fedora hat or a wide brim hat. Both these style are absolute hits this season and designers presented them in a huge variety. So, we definitely have a lot to choose from.

My favorite fedoras come in Kenzo and Laura Biagiotti Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collections. They look fantastic and are easy to wear with almost any type of clothing. Fedora is the most versatile hat style of all.

Wide brim hats are even more popular during Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 fashion season than fedora hats. Gucci, Dsquared2, Reiss, Monsoon, Miss Sixty, Christian Dior and other designers and brands have offered their vision of this type of a hat.

Miss sixty hats are made of luxurious fabric which looks similar to velvet, Nina Ricci trimmed hats with fur and changed the shape of brims. Lanvin hats have very wide and stiff brims, and Dior hats are softer and more feminine.

Wide brim hats are also very versatile. You can wear them with chic classic coats or free spirited Bohemian outfits.

It is a common fact that designers can get inspired from almost anything. Van Gogh’s sunflowers, Shahrazad’s stories and even music festivals’ fun can bring ideas into designers’ heads. Dean and Dan Caten used the latter idea and created their Spring/ Summer 2012 collection for Dsquared2 which models then splashed with mud on the runway.

No, you haven’t misunderstood me. During the Dsquared2 Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion show the runway floor was first sod and then after sprinklers started working it all turned in a muddy mess. And models had to go through it to showcase the pieces.

Speaking about the fashion of Dsquared2 for Spring/ Summer 2012 season we have to admit the focus was on accessories rather than clothing. While clothing was pretty ordinary and included mostly denim shorts and shirts, printed and glittering tees (sometimes depicting the American flag), studded jackets and miniskirts the accessories were much brighter and interesting.

First of all Dsquared2 sent their models down the catwalk in vibrant rubber boots which looked great and being fully covered in mud created that very atmosphere of a festival. Bright knee socks finished the look.
Long scarves, mannish belts, stylish hats, necklaces which looked more like fringe elements, flashy bracelets, and super colorful sunglasses were fabulous.

What I really liked in Dsquared2 Resort 2012 collection was the color blocking. Nude was combined with pink, orange and white, magenta went along with blue and green, yellow looked perfect with brown. Amazing combinations! And the three-colored trench coat is the most attractive of all these.

Very long pants, cropped leather jackets, and plunging necklines bring the 70s spirit into Dsquared2 Resort 2012 collection. But it is not limited to this epoch only. There are also timeless pieces in the range, including floor-sweeping black gowns and sexy cocktail dresses as well as classic shorts suits.

Dsquared2 Resort 2012 collection abounds in accessories majority of which are simple and elegant. But there are a few items which are attention-grabbing. For example, huge necklaces with stones and colorful scarves.

Models are represented like museum exhibits demonstrating chic clothing and nudity at the same time. Beautiful garments including fashionable jeans and jackets, luxurious dresses and a furcoat are stylishly accessorized by clinging leather thigh-high boots, gloves stretching up to elbows and extravagant shoes.

Dsquared2 Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 campaign looks interesting but a bit too gloomy. I would prefer brighter colors, and you?

As usual some trends from the previous season stay with us for another couple of months and you can wear them with dignity. And there are a few new ones that will complement our spring wardrobe.

Platform sandals
If you are a real fashionista this trend just needs to be in your wardrobe as almost every designer paid attention to it and created truly nice pieces for us to wear. They are perfect for many reasons. First, they are beautiful. They come in bright hues and original designs, from cage look to the one providing lots of coverage. Second, they are more comfortable to wear than ordinary heels. And third, they are super-glamorous and some celebrities have already been spotted wearing those.

Mary Janes
These shoes are ideal for office and the girls who simply love elegant footwear. The shoes come in various colors and can be very strict or exremely fresh and colorful. What you choose depends on you! Peep-toe Mary Janes have returned too!

Sky-high Heels
Despite all the arguments this type of womens designer shoes will always exist as there are plenty of women who are ready to suffer bunions and feet deformations to look stylish like Posh. Many brands presented high stilettos in their ranges, from classic Burberry to rock-chic DSquared2.

Kitten Heels
Although we admire the look of glamorous sky-high shoes we do think about our health. In this sense kitten heel can be attractive. And lots of women have already embraced this trend and walk freely in streets and even offices. Kitten heels are small and therefore comfortable. They are the great choice for ladies who hate flats but care about their feet.

Artsy Heels
In eveyday life we all want something simple and comfy but there are occasions when you want to stand out, to be the best, the brightest, to be the focus of attention. And in these cases artsy shoes are perfect. Alexander McQueen, Nina Richi, Gianfranco Ferre – all are known for making such footwear. And this type of shoes is always in fashion. Exclusive things are always trendy.

Wedges
Wedges are a good alternative to high heels. They can be high but stylish and comfortable. You can walk in them easily and feel fantastic. New wedges are super-modern and come in chic fabrics.

Middle-sized platforms
This type of footwear may not be very glamorous but it is exceptionally comfortable. When you are in them you feel like you are wearing flats but you don’t feel all that roughness and lumps of the ground.

Flats
Yes, flats are trendy, too. Don those as often as you like! Flat thong sandals are very hot this season as well.

High boots
These might seem to be a great contrast to flats. But actually you feel nice wearing them. The can be made of silk or lace, or be military-inspired like Jean Paul Gaultier offers.

Ankle Boots
Ankle boots have been with us for a few seasons and will definitely stay one more.Often called as “summer boots” ankle boots remain fierce and funky but fabrics have a softer edge. This season we see ankle-sandals, lace-ups, bandage-style straps, wedges, and peep-toes.

Tribal Chic
A touch of tribal is necessary in any collection to add some national coloring. Wild animal print sandals with their dramatic stitching and striking shapes do look sumptuous and can be matched to bold floral dresses or any stylish pants.

Sheer detailing
This season some designers suggest us wearing shoes that come with plastic or chiffon detailing, in fact any material that can provide the shoe with transparency. It looks interesting and sexy but I wonder whether it is comfortable.

Oxford Brogues
Boyish brogues are brought to women’s fashion. It seems that men become more feminine while women tend to be more masculine. I don’t understand this tendency. However, not everything we have given to men yet, as even brogues come with frills and ruffles.

Socks + Shoes
The most horrible trend ever, for me. But we saw lots of shoes and sandals together with socks on the runway, and it’s a definitely a trend. So, if you have no prejudice against this trend which I do have, show a rebellious streak and wear socks with your favorite sandals.

But lets see gorgeous shoes trends for spring/summer 2010 from Milan fashion week runway: heels, widgets, platforms and sandals, flats and extravagant shoes!

Donatella Versace presented Spring/Summer 2010 shoes collection inspired by Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movie. Lots of high platforms, bright and craza patterns, geometrical ornaments, the palette is bold black and white mixed with pastels.

The shoes are colorful, amazing, with an architectonic design and view, highly stylish. They were adorned with buckles, studs and cut-outs.

Dolce & Gabbana mixed pumps and socks.

D&G wants cowboy boots with fringe for spring weather.

Extravagant shoes collection launches Emanuel Ungaro.

Fendi designed footwear collection in neutral colors and materials.

Gucci opted the style of futurustic leather motives.

Sandals with fringe were demonstrated on Etro show.

Jil Sander made the mix of wood platform and iron heels.

Marni offered small thin heels and sandals.

Dsquared designers, Dean and Dan Caten, told they got their inspiration to become couturiers from their “hot older brother”, to be precise, from his attractive girlfriends.

The designer twins grew up with seven brothers and sisters and as it turned out their sibling’s pretty girlfriends sparked their interest in the fashion industry.

Dan commented:

We had a hot older brother. Like, seriously hot. He had so many hot girlfriends. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing, but everybody has to take their shoes off before they go indoors and we’re sitting on the landing when one of his girlfriends takes her shoes off in the hall. No lie, they were salt-stained suede wedges with little stars and crescent moons. Like, totally Stevie Nicks. And we would literally fight over who could put them on first.”

Dean and Dan are very famous now and they make costumes for stars like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Madonna and Lenny Kravitz. But actually they started from styling family members, at the age of just 10.

Dan told Britain’s Grazia magazine:

Our sisters would come home and we would have customised their entire wardrobe. There was always a sister going to prom or on a date and we’d style them. I don’t think we even thought that fashion could be a job back then. And you have our dad in the background saying, ‘That’s not a real job!’ So we thought we might be dancers, because we were always dancing to Rod Stewart. Until we saw our dad’s station wagon pull up. Then the stereo went off and the heels came off.”

Thanks God, they didn’t become dancers, otherwise the world would be deprived of lots of wonderful pieces they create.
