New year and new magazine issues! Elle UK presents Kate Winslet on the February 2009 issue.

In the interview British actress talks about lost weight and her figure.

She asserts that she has got slimmed thanks to systematic Pilates sessions at her home which she has done upon giving birth her second child five years ago.

I’ve actually been this way since I had Joe,’ she said. ‘I still don’t believe in this craziness for being skinny, but I eat sensibly and I don’t stuff down chocolate biscuits.

I don’t go to the gym because I don’t have time but I do Pilates workout DVDs for 20 minutes or more every day at home.’

I guess I have to admit I do care what people think. I hate people thinking I’m some pretentious fraud.’

The rock star Courtney Love, who was once married to Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain, made the shock acknowledgment in the January 2009 issue of British Elle magazine.

She said:

Baby, if I could get a gastric band I would!

I’ve heard it’s a lot of vomiting and a pain in the ass, but it’s still easier than a diet.

I did go to see a Hollywood doctor about it. I wasn’t desperate, I just knew I had to do something. He said no.

I might have been fat, but I wasn’t that fat. I tried lipo on my stomach after that. It was horrible and it didn’t work.’

During the interview, she talks about family, fashion.

She also talked about Russel Brand:

Look, I swear that Russell Brand and me are just really good friends. I don’t want to have sex with him. I actually have a very satisfactory sexual life, thank you very much.’

Love said about her 16-year-old daughter Frances Bean, fathered by Cobain:

My daughter knows I did drugs in my first trimester of pregnancy.

She weighed 7lb 6oz when she was born and she was healthy.

We were excellent parents and I say that despite pretty much always having an edge on.

Frances bonded very well with her father, at least in the first year and a half of her life.’

Country music singer talks among others issues on fame, her love life, and that ‘other blond’.

Here are some of the highlights:

On the rumor she was dating Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps:

I swear on everything, on my job, on my house, my dog…That’s how serious I am. It’s all just a lie. Anytime any [media source] ever says ‘a friend said,’ or ‘a close’ whatever – no, they didn’t! It’s just made up. None of my friends would say anything. Ever. About anything!”

Karolina Kurkova graces the cover of British Elle’s November 2008 issue. She is looking hot and wild.

A model, who has been criticized for showing “back fat, love handles and cellulite,” answers her critics back with a stunning Elle cover.

She also does the cover of Elle magazine’s February 2008 issue and appeared only in shoes, diamonds and gloves for the November 2007 issue of Vanity Fair celebrating 20 years of supermodels with her fellow Angels.

The photoshoot is named “The New Sexy” and presented by photographer Matthew Vriens and stylist Sasa Thomann.

Karolína Kurková, 24, is a Czechoslovakian model, best known as one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels.

Mario Testino said of Kurková,

The proportions of her body and her face, as well as her energy level, make her a model who could fit almost into any moment.”

Designer Marc Jacobs said,

“She has an angelic look with a dark side, she’s sweet and fun but looks like she could be an evil bewitching child.”

Vogue editor Anna Wintour called her the “next supermodel”.

Kurková has been quoted as saying,

Everyone likes and deserves to have some fun. In the end, when you smile, life smiles back at you!”

Beautiful woman and Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman does the November 2008 cover of Elle’s Annual Women in Hollywood Issue.

During the interview, the Hollywood mom, 41, told about living in Nashville with country-singer-husband, Keith Urban, being a new mom to baby-girl Sunday and her upcoming film, Australia which is to be released November 26th.

The Baz Luhrmann-directed film is set in pre-World War II Australia, centers around an English aristocrat who inherits a sprawling ranch and reluctantly pacts with a stock-man in order to protect her new property from a takeover plot.

There’s several editorials in this Elle issue. One with Coco Rocha, one with Caroline Winberg, and four other edits with celebs like Daniel Craig, Anderson Cooper, Anne Hathaway, etc.

I needed to see what a negative looked like,” says Max and Emme’s mom, who also admits to making hubby Marc Anthony pee on a stick.

We were in the hoody!” Jennifer shared about the shoot with Oscar in Washington Heights. “All kinds of locals hanging around, eating out of paper bags, thinking, what’s going on here? It was crazy.”

She also shared on not being able to get pregnant right away:

We knew nothing was wrong with either one of us—I had been checked, and he had kids already. I knew Something’s not ready here, in my head or in my life, and when it is, I know it’s going to happen.”

Just after US Elle used Mary Kate Olsen for its July cover, British Elle recycled the twin for its September 2008 cover. Reminds us of the time hot Madonna does covers of both American and British Elle for May.

From interview:

On what inspires her sense of style…

I love playing dress up. I get inspired by old films, weird things. It could just be the person sitting across from me or it could be a full Victorian costume”

On media reaction to her clothing…

What I find odd though is that a weekly [magazine] will come out describing my outfit as a fashion disaster, while the fashion industry actually respects what I wear.”

On her and Ashley’s clothing labels…

I think more of my energy goes in to Elizabeth and James, [The Row is] Ashley’s baby.”

Karl Lagerfeld about Mary Kate Olsen:

I love a tiny woman in Chanel. Coco herself was tiny, so you don’t need to be a giant to look good in these [designs]. I like the way Mary-Kate is mixing Chanel with other things. Life is not a fashion show, and I find a total designer look boring.’

Jessica Simpson does too her magazine cover for British Elle. Elle magazine availed of her cover-girl prowess for their September 2008 issue. As always, Jessica looks wonderful thanks to the help of at least 10 graphics artists.

Jessica Simpson said about the period immediately following her 2005 split from ex-husband Nick Lachey.
She said:

I was going through a lot of pain. I didn’t try anything to change my life other than dating different types of guys and conforming to their worlds. I thought I had to be artsier, more intellectual. Most of the guys I dated were captivated by my heart, but they had different ways of trying to get to me. Tony understands me. He appreciates my talent. He’s the first person I’ve spiritually connected with.”

Jessica Simpson’s debut country album “Do You Know” will be available on September 9.

I am still acting like a seventeen-year-old. I definitely haven’t become middle-aged. I’ve got a house and a daughter and all that, but I still like to have fun. Even in my business we still have fun.”

Kate Moss is a designer versus and a model:

I still enjoy modeling, and it inspires me for the other things as well. All that dressing up makes me say, ‘What do I want to wear?’ and, ‘What do I want to do with Topshop?’ It all kind of leads into the other things.”

As for being one of the world’s richest models and business women… :

I like making money, but I don’t call people up every day to see how much I’ve made. As long as I have what I need at the time; I mean, I can buy the house that I want. I am not completely money-oriented.”
