There are only three designers whose couture work I really admire – Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Jean Paul Gaultier. Two of them no longer create due to the reasons you know, but one still keeps making those fantastic outfits that often leave us breathless. Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection was wonderful. Inspired by and dedicated to Amy Winehouse it consisted of pieces which were feminine and colorful in Amy’s style and extravagant and chic in Gaultier’s way.

Models with beehives, beauty spots on their faces and dramatic eye makeup walked down the runway in dresses of the fifties era, tiny corsets and bodysuits, glitzy pencil skirts and simple shirts, stylish suits and sheer tunics.

PVC leggings, blazers which exposed bras and a lot of flesh, and dresses baring backs were showcased along with demure frocks, well-tailored coats and high-waisted pants in Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s accessories were amazing. Luxurious veils adorned with embroidery, fringe and lace, wide cuffs in a variety of styles, headwear with huge flowers decorating it, exquisite earrings and cute necklaces, foldover and clutch bags – all made Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection even more complete.

I have to say it again: I loved Christian Dior Sooo much with John Galliano creating for it. Now with Bill Gaytten it has transformed, and that’s not the transformation I personally appreciate. It has become more demure and wearable that makes it quite profitable, but drama we loved it for has disappeared, both the drama of the show and the clothing. The first couture collection, designed without the touch of Galliano’s incredible genius, is beautiful, feminine and delicate… but isn’t it too similar to the Spring/ Summer 2012 range? Isn’t it too simple for couture?

Bill Gaytten, who has designed Christian Dior Couture collection for Spring 2012, says he has been inspired by works of the brand’s founder while working on the collection. He explained:

All the structure of iconic Dior, thanks to lots of fittings.”

Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture collection abounds with dresses with cinched waists, see-through fabrics and beautiful floral prints and embroidery. None of the couture pieces come tight-fitting as in Versace collection. Instead, Gaytten focuses on full skirts, pleated sleeves, and smart drapery.

Floor-length gowns, especially dark purple ones, are definitely future red carpet choices (for a variety of glam events) while the sumptuous ballgowns (the red one is impressive!) will become hits at more important occasions like the Oscars.
What I would also like to mention here is the gloves – long and fab. They will be a great accessory to add to any fashionista’s wardrobe.

There is a number of designers I will admire forever: Karl Lagerfeld, Alberta Ferretti, Zuhair Murad, John Galliano, Donna Karan and of course Oscar de la Renta. These people are real masters in what they do. Every collection, every piece, every detail they create is unique and perfect. And we can only wonder where all that comes from, how a person can design things which are always different and attractive. Oscar de la Renta’s collection I would like to tell you about now is for Pre-Fall 2012 and it is beyond amazing.

Oscar de la Renta signature elegant style is seen through every item. Floor-length dresses made of perfect-looking silk, printed cocktail dresses as well as those with pleats and sequin details, knitted cardigans and straight-silhouette coats, and of course wide-leg trousers which have been with us for two seasons make the flawless de la Renta’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

Accessory line in Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 collection includes belts with buckles adorned with colorful crystals, elaborate chunky necklaces and earrings, sexy polka dot pantyhose, and dressy evening clutches. Shoes were beautiful but comfortable. No pumps were actually shown. Instead, the designer demonstrated a collection of lovely loafers, and shoes with chunky heels.

I can’t say my expectations were high about Christian Dior Spring/ Summer 2012 collection since I was a great fan of John Galliano’s creations. But I still thought some drama in the label’s collections would preserve. It didn’t. And I’m disappointed. I’m in no way saying the range was bad or plain. But it was simply good. Nothing really outstanding and nothing I would praise much.

Bill Gayten, who used to be Galliano’s right hand, did everything to keep Christian Dior at the place it was. He kept the idea of femininity and classic silhouette, paid much attention to details and organized a lovely show. But when I watched the models walking the runway I couldn’t get rid of the feeling something significant was missing. Maybe it was the genuine love to woman’s beauty or something else, but without it the collection didn’t impress.

Christian Dior Spring/ Summer 2012 collection featured a great variety of pretty delicate dresses in lovely colors. Frills, sheer fabrics, floral patterns and embroidery made the range look beautiful. Skirt suits looked classy and coats with cute bows were amazing. But majority of cocktail dresses were not Dior chic. They looked plain and sometimes even uglified models’ figures.

A source close to LHMH told Vogue.co.uk about the reasons why the three favorites couldn’t take the job at Dior:

Haider Ackermann is said to be ‘way too edgy’ for Dior; Marc Jacobs wanted the job a lot, but LVMH wants him to stick with Vuitton; and Riccardo Tisci simply refused, saying that he was feeling more than comfortable with the job at Givenchy. So nobody’s taking over so far.”

And now there are rumors that young but prominent designer Alexander Wang can be among the new candidates. If you want my opinion, Wang is great and very talented but he is no way a couture designer. He has been good at designing streetwear and sportswear which is quite different from what a designer at Dior has to do. Besides, he definitely lack the experience needed to represent such a fashion house.

So, I do believe it would be right to hire Galliano back. Nobody can be as good as he at Dior. I can’t even imagine someone trying to do his job. It’s just impossible.

John Gallaino’s Fall/ Winter 2011 2012 lookbook features two models – a female and male – wearing sexy underwear pieces teamed up with pointe shoes and knee socks. The girl looks very womanly in those. At certain photographs she strikes poses resembling real ballet pas and steps.

John Galliano Underwear designed for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 fashion season is based on different styles. There are flower-printed sets, beautiful lace ensembles and simple but comfy combinations.

Some of John Galliano’s underwear pieces are for bedroom wear only. These are totally sheer and look amazing. Many items come with cute frills and bows but there are a few molded sets as well.

Manolo Blahnik told WWD about how he had to remake Kate Moss’ wedding shoes FIVE times to get them right as Moss confessed to “turning mental” for a moment while she was making all the preparations for her wedding with Jamie Hince. The customized $895 Godichefac open sandals with pretty ornate design were decorated with jewels but to get it right the shoes were remade five times.

We did them five times to get them the way she wanted.

The shoes arrived the day before and there were too many jewels on the heel because of the long train, so we had women working up until midnight to change it.

My workers are the best people. I wouldn’t be here without them.

said Manolo Blahnik to WWD. Blahnik has also expressed his delight for platform shoe trend decline as the designer has gained his popularity for his signature style in making feminine and delicate shoes.

Blahnik has described his fall collection as “sweet”, “feminine” and “new” and it’s great as the fall season trends toward more feminine and delicate designs.

Kate Moss’ wedding was “divine” according to designer who said Moss has “a presence” that one has to feel. Kate Moss wore her customized Godichefac sandals with a vintage wedding gown by John Galliano for her wedding ceremony in July.

The recent news about Kate Moss wedding have been swept away for a while by new others but the event has been photographed, of course, and has received a fabulous spread in Vogue. The wedding of Kate Moss and The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince has been shot by famous fashion photographer Mario Testino who has worked with the model for twenty years and has a book dedicated to her called Kate Moss by Mario Testino.

Kate Moss’ wedding photos look wonderful and very romantic capturing the atmosphere of “soft focus” as Moss wanted: “I wanted it to be kind of dreamy and 1920s, when everything is soft-focus. The Great Gatsby.” Moss has also opened to Vogue about the couple’s decision to marry, well her decision to marry him as he was asking her to every day. And the documentary on the British TV My Big Fat Gypsy had a lot to do with this:

I am so romantic about Gypsies. They’re not allowed to do anything until they get married. So they all get married really young, at sixteen. You can’t believe the dresses. They’re like blinging butterflies times ten; they can’t move down the aisle! It’s so genius.

I was just watching Jamie, so cute, and I was like, these girls, they just spend their whole life waiting for that day—let’s do it!

And so the big preparation began. Moss had her friend designer John Galliano who has been at rehab at the moment design a dress for her that was inspired by vintage glam of the thirties:

a classic Galliano, those chiffon thirties kind. I’ve lived in his dresses for years, and they just make me feel so comfortable. But it’s so much more couture, couture, couture. Oh, my God, the work that’s going into the dress!

The dress turned out fabulous detailed with paillettes and flowers. Galliano admitted that “she dared me to be John Galliano again” adding that he couldn’t “pick up a pencil” but designing a dress has helped him in a form of creative therapy.

The Vogue cover story by Hamish Bowles is as picturesque as Mario Testino‘s photos. The Vogue September 2011 issue bears the cover with Kate Moss in a purple Alexander McQueen fairy-tale-like dress with deep decolletage and jewel details. Of course Bill Gaytten didn’t work alone. He had a whole team of professionals to help him, including Susanna Venega as his right hand, Stephen Jones with his headpieces, Jeremy Healy on beats, Michael Howells with his set design, Pat McGrath on makeup, and Orlando Pita on hair. The Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2011 collection we have seen on the runway was the result of this close collaboration. And the result was interesting to look at. Being a fan of Galliano I was a little disappointed to see quite another vision of a Dior woman, who was always truly elegant and sophisticated. The new one looked stylish though but she was a bit disco-influenced.

The Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2011 collection was roughly divided into two major parts. The first included simpler shorter dresses with full tiered skirts, structural tops with elbow-long sleeves, and plenty of airy details made of organza, taffeta and gazar. The second part was a bigger show. Gowns were super long, with fantastic trains, pleats and play of color. The finishing outfit, and the most amazing, was a Pierrot, sad clown dressed in gown that was the best in this collection.

Gaga’s favorite designer Mugler, Giles, Antonio Berardi, Marios Schwab as well as Viktor & Rolf and Givenchy have all featured this Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 trend in their ranges.

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Fashion Trend #4: Texture Overload. Everything is mixed in Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collections. Silk comes along with fur and knitwear, sequins and leather make a perfect combination and even plastic goes well with chiffon and wool. Sounds crazy? It does. And it does look a bit crazy, too.

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Fashion Trend #5: 40s Elegance. Fashion repeats itself. In Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 40s elegance is again a hot trend. The best approach to reinvent this fashion era has been realized by Gucci, John Galliano, Miu Miu, and Jonathan Saunders.

It’s the greatest news for those girls who don’t want to transform into strong and courageous men and prefer to remain fragile women. Pleats, frills, cute rosettes and lovely embroidery help us look romantic. And we sometimes want to look romantic, don’t we? Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Fashion Trend #9: Zoological. Besides zoological prints, like leopard and python, to which we have already got accustomed due to the fact every single season designers use these in their creations, in Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 ranges we see lots of feathers, wild animals printed on fabric (Givenchy, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Topshop and Ungaro), hats in shape of lions and panthers at Anna Sui, etc. Fashion goes really wild.

Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Fashion Trend #10 Chunky Knit Sweater. .Fall and winter are cold seasons, so there is no wonder why designers have included warm chunky sweaters into their collections. Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Fashion Trend #11: Fur. As with sweaters, fur is the perfect material for winter. And it looks chic, too. Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 Fashion Trend #15: Wide cropped trousers. This is the shape of trousers many women try to avoid thinking those will look really unflattering. However, if styled well such trousers can look fantastic.
