Karl Lagerfeld sometimes says things people hate him for. But do you know what I think? I believe he is in that position when a person can express his thoughts openly. He doesn’t curse others or call them bad names. He just says what he really believes is true. And in most cases I agree with him. For example, his most recent statement about singer Adele (He said she was a little fat.) has certain grounds. She is actually a little bigger than healthy size. But it’s not what I was going to tell you. Reading Lagerfeld’s interview for Metro Magazine (in which he comments on Adele’s weight) I found a few interesting tips we might get the use of. These are about how to understand we are getting fat and how to keep slim at all times.

Karl Lagerfeld on his diet (remember that once Lagerfeld was very big?): “I haven’t touched sugar, sweets, butter, cake, cheese — all of that — for more than 11 years, and I’m not even tempted. I’m beyond temptation. I think that’s the best thing that can happen in life.”

Karl Lagerfeld on how he understands he has a few pounds to lose: “I found out that clothes are much better than scales and things like this. Clothes don’t lie. If you have only clothes in one size and nothing one millimeter bigger, the minute something hurts somewhere, you know it’s time. And always keep a pair of tight jeans, something tight for control. I know a woman who every year put on her wedding dress just to see if she can still fit in it. It’s only a problem if you have four or five weddings.”

I really do hope Kristen Stewart didn’t mean to humiliate Karl Lagerfeld by showing the international ‘F*** You’ sign behind his back. Because if she did, it would be huge disrespect of her to one of the most talented and hard-working men in the fashion industry.

Even if she was addressing someone else, showing the middle finger with just a foot away from Karl Lagerfeld’s face was more than stupid. A person is not allowed to do such things in presence of elder people, and it’s sad Kristen didn’t know that.

Besides, I just can’t miss the fact Karl Lagerfeld is photographing Kristen Stewart for an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair. So tell me HOW could she act that way?

It seems that now to become a ‘designer’ you just have to be famous for something, no matter what that ‘something’ is. Zahia Dehar, who is French Moroccan by origin, used to be an underage prostitute paid by footballers for her escort services. A few years later, today, she has showcased her lingerie collection at the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week.

Zahia Dehar, who was just 16 when several football players who had slept with her were arrested and imprisoned, is now trying to make a reputation of a good and talented girl by designing lingerie.

The lingerie line was debuted at Palais Brongniart – the former Paris Stock Exchange and was organized as a colorful show. Zahia Dehar appeared on the runway too, modeling a sheer dress covered with flower petals.

The collection was rather diverse and interesting but there was hardly a common idea coming through it. Dehar herself didn’t design the couture lingerie. Outstanding masters including François Tamarin, Bruno Legeron, and Jean-Pierre Ollier did that for her. And photographer for the lookbook was Karl Lagerfeld.

Karl commented on Zahia Dehar:

She’s very French courtesan, like Liane de Pougy or the Belle Otéro.”

There is a number of designers I will admire forever: Karl Lagerfeld, Alberta Ferretti, Zuhair Murad, John Galliano, Donna Karan and of course Oscar de la Renta. These people are real masters in what they do. Every collection, every piece, every detail they create is unique and perfect. And we can only wonder where all that comes from, how a person can design things which are always different and attractive. Oscar de la Renta’s collection I would like to tell you about now is for Pre-Fall 2012 and it is beyond amazing.

Oscar de la Renta signature elegant style is seen through every item. Floor-length dresses made of perfect-looking silk, printed cocktail dresses as well as those with pleats and sequin details, knitted cardigans and straight-silhouette coats, and of course wide-leg trousers which have been with us for two seasons make the flawless de la Renta’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

Accessory line in Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 collection includes belts with buckles adorned with colorful crystals, elaborate chunky necklaces and earrings, sexy polka dot pantyhose, and dressy evening clutches. Shoes were beautiful but comfortable. No pumps were actually shown. Instead, the designer demonstrated a collection of lovely loafers, and shoes with chunky heels.

Karl Lagerfeld is reported to have found the new face for Chanel handbag campaign. And you would be surprised to know that it is the British model Alice Dellal, who is best known for her half-shaved head and being a member of a controversial all-girl rock group Thrush Metal.

Alice Dellal is said to be going to promote Chanel Spring/ Summer 2012 handbag collection. According to the rumors she has attracted attention of Karl Lagerfeld during a recent photoshoot.

If rumors confirm to be true Alice Dellal will follow in the footsteps of such big names as Vanessa Paradis, Claudia Schiffer, Nicole Kidman and Keira Knightley as well as Blake Lively, Lily Allen, and Diane Kruger who all used to be models for Chanel.

Despite being a model Alice Dellal confesses she isn’t into fashion much:

I wish I was more into clothes. I don’t know the current designers. My style used to be a tame version of me and it’s getting more and more drastic, and is probably going to get really really weird towards the end. Be afraid.”

Alice Dellal isn’t the only person in her family who works in the industry. Her sister, Charlotte, designs shoes for Sienna Miller and Kate Moss under the name Charlotte Olympia.

I don’t like Indian motifs, all those garments and loads of jewelry they usually wear both on the daily basis and for special events. I don’t, really. But fashion created by Karl Lagerfeld inspired by Indian culture is quite a different thing. It looks interesting and I literally examined every outfit of Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 collection. And I can tell you I was impressed.

Karl Lagerfeld, who was one of the first to present Pre-Fall 2012 collection, organized a show which resembled Indian fests, with plenty of food on tables, people laughing and enjoying themselves, beautiful women, including Indian models, walking around… It was grand and unusual, and it will definitely stay in our memories just like all incredible Chanel shows.

Speaking about clothing in Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 collection I can say it was based on basic Indian garment styles but Chanel feel remained, making the range modern and interesting for European and Western cultures.

Long, beautiful robes embellished with pearls, cropped pants made of shining fabrics, grey and white leggings to cover legs as well as many other elements of traditional Indian fashion went along with signature Chanel tweed suits and coats, and warm elegant dresses.

Jewelry abounded in Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 collection. Headpieces, nose rings, brooches, wrist items as well as numerous necklaces ranging from a few thin pearl threads to huge collar-shapes pieces looked amazing.

Shoes in Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 collection were all flat. The variety of styles ranged from open sandals often featuring shoes that weren’t alike in the same pair to comfy booties perfect for long walks.

Rachel Bilson has been praised for her fashion sense for so long that it is quite natural she has become confident enough to design her own shoe range.

Rachel Bilson, who is a regular at fashion shows and used to be a model for Magnum advert directed by Karl Lagerfeld, has launched an affordable shoe collection that is said to be of very high quality. The footwear is reported to be made of real leather and suede and will cost under $100.

Besides, Rachel Bilson is going to launch ShoeMint.com this Friday, a fashion website which will sell her designs.

Rachel commented:

As a designer, I’m always exploring new mediums and footwear is a category I’ve always been very passionate about. More and more, people are shopping for shoes online and with BeachMint, I have the opportunity to design not just the shoes, but the full experience for our customers, which feels more personal and rewarding for me.”

It’s time for Resort 2012 ad campaigns to pour out! New Fendi girl Natasha Poly was photographed by multitalented designer Karl Lagerfeld. The model posed in the bright yellow background leaning against or embracing a nude statue. The beauty looked fresh and stylish in brand’s clothing. The outfit that comprises a white dress and a pair of strappy sandals was the most attractive.

Gucci Resort 2012 campaign featuring two models – a male and a female – was much softer and pleasant to the eye. The couple was photographed near a white wall with a plant with bright purple leaves. Garments both monotone and with stripy or zebra prints were vivid and interesting.

Donna Karan has released just one pic so far and it features gorgeous Karlie Kloss in a mesmerizing red dress posing in three different ways.

The last to mention here is Prada Resort 2012 ad campaign. Shot by Steven Meisel Prada girl Lea Seydoux looked amazing wearing sexy lacy dresses. Each image pictured her with delicate flower necklaces and bracelets as well with one or numerous clutch bags in her hands.

Being a true fan of Chanel I try to have a look at every piece, each creation by Karl Lagerfeld who has got an incredible talent of seeing the beauty in everything. For his Spring/ Summer 2012 collection the designer took sea as the main theme (Versace also did.). He transformed the Grand Palais into an underwater world with huge corals, shells, sea horses, and stingrays decorating it.

Chanel Spring/ Summer 2012 was very feminine and chic. Karl Lagerfeld used new fabrics which shone perfectly in the dim light of the place. Shapes weren’t always tight-fitting but even being loose they look good on a woman’s figure.

Boxy tweeds, drop waists, mille-feuille pleats were all in the Spring/ Summer 2012 Chanel collection. There were some weird elements too, for example, the dress with ruffles in shape of sea sponges.

But it was the accessories that I was attracted to in Chanel Spring/ Summer 2012 collection. Majority of bags were very Chanel – with chain handles and quilt detailing, while others looked amazing being all over adorned with pearls. By the way, pearls were used as belts and even to beautify models’ bodies.

I didn’t like the shoes though. Maybe their design ideally suited the theme of the collection but there was little lovely about them.

Karl Lagerfeld is collaborating with Snoop Dogg. Straaaange. But oh, it’s only a video collaboration not a collection and whatnot. The now friends have met at Snoop Dogg’s party in Paris and this week Karl Lagerfeld went to St. Tropez to appear in Jean-Roch music video for his single “St. Tropez” where Snoop Dogg will appear too. So I guess the “collaboration” is a big word for the news but just imagine how their fashion collection would look like had they really worked on it together.

In other news, Carine Roitfeld gave an interview to Sunday Magazine. The ex-editor of Vogue Paris talked about her upcoming book Irreverent, editor work and cigarettes in fashion photography:

The book is dedicated to my husband, who quit smoking seven months ago. When he decided to stop smoking, I said, My God, it’s too bad I didn’t try to help him to stop before. Now I decide I will never use a cigarette again in any shoot. When you’re doing fashion pictures, you’re talking to lots of figures; some are very young, and they’re like sponges. So if your girl is smoking a cigarette, they can say, Oh, my God, it’s smart to smoke a cigarette, it’s good for the look, so I’m going to have one, too. And it’s totally stupid. It’s an easy solution to make a picture more interesting, but it’s not the only solution. And now it’s like, forgive me for all these cigarettes I’ve put in all these issues.

A bit late but guess it’s better than nothing.

Roitfeld was also asked about the spread with a 10 year old Thylane Blondeau styled as an adult and whether she should apologize for it:

A lot of people say I was fired because of this issue, because of the little girls dressed in mom clothes…It was very, very controversial. Old couples, kids, surgery. But it was not done on purpose because I was leaving. It was done before that, you know.

The reason I call my book “Irreverent” is because there were a lot of pictures that were very irreverent. Maybe I could call my book “Forgiving” because maybe I made a lot of errors too.

I mean what should one expect while putting a ten-year-old “model” on a cover dressed in “mom’s clothes”?

Madonna was sued for using a trademark – Material Girl for her Macy’s collection by clothes manufacturer L.A. Triumph. Despite creating a song of 1984 called Material Girl Madonna only has a song name copyright not a trademark. The trial will take place in October.
