Katie Holmes just can’t dress to the occasion. She proved it once again at the premiere of her new mini-series The Kennedys, which was finally launched on Monday. The actress wore a very casual blue knee-length dress that women would wear to a nearby grocery rather than a movie premiere. Katie arrived to the event with her supporting husband Tom Cruise.

While dressing for the photoshoot no one but her husband Tom Cruise and daughter Suri helped Katie to choose clothing. This explains why the actress looked so boring though rather elegant.

In the interview for Elle February 2011 edition Katie Holmes talked about paparazzi, Suri’s fashion advice and shopping habits and how hard it was to play Jacqueline Kennedy.

Katie Holmes on working hard to play former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy: “I worked as hard as I could, because I loved her. On set there was this feeling that we had to create something very special, because these people were very special.”

Katie Holmes on playing this complex role: “[The Kennedys] were like movie stars. There was such a professionalism to their public image.”

Katie Holmes on admiring Jackie Kennedy’s strength: “I didn’t realize that she had lost a child in August and then [Jack] was assassinated in November. I couldn’t believe it. She had so much strength….I loved her love of family, how important it was for her to be a good mother.”

Katie Holmes on the design process for her clothing line: “I have such an appreciation for the fine details and the amount of work it takes. I really appreciate clothing and designers so much more. It’s made shopping even better.”

Katie Holmes on decorating: “I like to create a nice table. I love roses and orchids and French tulips and berries, and then a lot of things that are just pretty and I have no idea what their names are.”

Katie Holmes on Suri’s shopping style: “The other day we came out of a store, and she said, ‘I want to go there,’ pointing at another store quite a distance away. In that store was the dress that she wanted. I said, ‘Wow, Suri. You’re something. You picked that out from a football field away.’”

Katie Holmes on getting fashion advice from Suri: “She’ll really tell me [what she thinks]. Like today I’m wearing brown suede pants, and she said, ‘I don’t like your pants.’ But then she’ll say, ‘You’ve got to wear these shoes.’ Or ‘That’s so pretty, Mom. Wear that.’ She’s got a great eye.”

Katie Holmes on paparazzi attention: “I don’t worry so much. It is what it is, and it’s fine. I’ll go somewhere because I need to get something done.”

You must know majority of celebrity shopaholics I’m going to talk about but you might not be aware of the extent their shopping obsession has developed to.

#1 Celebrity Shopaholic on my list is Katie Holmes, woman whose shopping sprees are discussed almost daily. What is interesting is that she doesn’t spend that much on herself. She buys clothing, shoes and accessories for her little daughter Suri, who is just 4 years old. The wardrobe of this girl is already estimated $3 million but her mother isn’t going to stop.

#2 Celebrity Shopaholic – Britney Spears. The singer says shopping helps her get rid of depression. She simply enters the shop and buys everything she likes, for example seven pairs of Gucci shoes. Her favorite fashion brands are Bebe, Armani Exchange, and Rampage. From time to time she raids The Gap for cheaper items. But no matter where she shops she enjoys the process!

She once said:

I can be in the dump of dumpsters and go buy a pair of new shoes, and then it’s okay. Even if it’s just for the time being, for that moment it’s what I need.”

#3 Celebrity Shopaholic is Victoria Beckham. Of course I couldn’t miss the woman who spends around $150,000 a year on her wardrobe. Despite the fact she is a successful designer herself now Victoria still buys lots of pieces that were created by other couturiers. And these aren’t only clothes, but also numerous bags (including over 30 Birkin bags!!!), sky-high heels, hats and jewelry.

Victoria says about her obsession:

I can’t help it. When I see something I like, I buy it in every color and I buy shoes in every color to match, as well as handbags. If I could, I’d go shopping every single day. I’m definitely a shopaholic.”

#4 Celebrity Shopaholic – Paris Hilton. This girl has told the public a few times that she never wears the same clothing twice. So, just imagine how many pieces she needs to always wear new things. The socialite is rumored to spend an average of 25-30 hours a week buying clothes and accessories.

#5 Celebrity Shopaholic is Cameron Diaz who buys things, drives those home and then doesn’t open the bags for weeks. Some of the garments she purchases she never wears. She just likes the process. But Cameron feels it right to add new items to her wardrobe again and again. She says:

Frequent shopping sprees is the way to keep stocked. A woman can never have enough.”

#6 Celebrity Shopaholic – Celine Dion who always drives her rolls-royce to shops because it has a roomy boot. Her secret (now it’s not a secret anymore!!!) obsession is shoes. Her collection includes 3000 pairs that means in theory she can change her footwear 8 times a day!!!

#7 Celebrity Shopaholic is infamous Lindsay Lohan. This girl has problems not only with drugs, alcohol and driving but also with shopping. She definitely loves it more than lots of other things in life. She once spent $20,000 in 20 minutes.

#8 Celebrity Shopaholic - Jennifer Lopez. The star admits she can’t stop when it comes to buying shoes and clothes.

She said:

I’m a little bit of a shopaholic. I don’t have to call the hotline or anything, but I definitely enjoy it. My biggest extravagance is probably shoes and clothes. I’m over the top with it but I love shopping for clothes, (and) trying on different outfits.”

Sometimes the diva doesn’t buy anything but keeps on trying on new and new outfits. She explains her behavior:

If you’re a woman and you have a few curves it’s a great feeling to put on a dress that makes you feel attractive.”

#9 Celebrity Shopaholic is Sarah Jessica Parker. Probably it was her Sex and the City character Carry Bradshaw that somehow influenced the actress but most likely shopaholic disease has always been in her. Sarah claims she tries to be careful with her money, however, she does have a weak point – shoes. The star dates her shoe obsession to her childhood when her mother couldn’t afford buying Sarah more than two pairs of shoes a year. Now she has about 100 pairs of shoes that range in price from $300 to $1,000.

She said:

I have far too many shoes – I mean really, really, really too many shoes. I’ve been wearing Manolo Blahniks for 16, 17 years. I’m not proud of my habit, but it’s what I do with my disposable income. I can run a marathon, I can jump puddles, I can do anything in heels – the higher, the better.”

#10 Celebrity Shopaholic – Gwen Stefani. Gwen is not a shopaholic in a typical sense of this word. She doesn’t spend millions on clothing. Instead, she shops in second-hand stores and buys things she can alter for herself.

She explained:

I always loved shopping and making up my own outfits. When I was young and my mom said ‘”let’s go to the mall” I always said “Can’t I just have a hundred dollars and go to the thrift store?” You get really cool stuff. I would buy the clothes and then alter everything because we had a sewing machine. My bedroom was always the room you didn’t go into unless you wanted to get pins stuck in your foot. I was always doing projects and making my own clothes.”

But sometimes Gwen Stefani acts like a normal shopaholic and buys designer stuff. She especially likes Vivienne Westwood’s designs:

When I’m in London I act the way people think I am supposed to act as a star. I splurge on Vivienne Westwood’s clothes and come home with bags full of her stuff. I’ll buy whatever I can because I love her clothes and they fit me really well.”

This list can go on and on but I think it will be wise to stop here and say that you shouldn’t admire passion for shopping because unless you a star with huge annual income you can hardly afford lots of things you’d like to buy. Think reasonably before you pay your money for just another skirt or a pair of shoes. Maybe tomorrow you’ll have to live on coffee.

Let’s begin duscussing my 10 Top Unstylish Celebrities list:

#10. Katie Holmes. She thinks she looks stylish all the time. And she always talks about fashion and her young fashion genius Suri. However, here I am saying she isn’t fashionable and she can’t combine clothes. I remember just a few occasions where Katy looked good.

#9. Cameron Diaz. She is a fantastic actress but fashion is obviously not her strong point. Her dresses are often shapeless and hide the figure everyone wants to see. Cameron’s everyday style is even worse.

#8. Kristen Stewart. I love The Twilight saga and Kristen acting in it. But it seems that acting is the only thing I like about this girl. Her fashion choices are in 99% of cases fail to impress.

#7. Mischa Barton is a girl more famous for her weight fluctuations rather than style. She just can’t look good even in the best dress in the world. There is always something wrong about her look: attire, shoes, jewelry, headband, etc.

#6. Britney Spears. I used to be a fan of Britney when I was younger. I thought she was the most gifted and fashionable girl. And now I’m grown up and see that Britney isn’t that scrupulous about clothing she wears. Probably this is her family drama or something else that influenced her, but she is #6 on my list and she deserves that.

#5. Jessica Simpson. When Jess was slimmer she looked good. Now with her new curves she doesn’t. The problem is that Jessica still believes she is slim and opts for garments that hug her body too tight. Somebody, tell her to look in the mirror!

#4. Lindsay Lohan. I know I might be too cruel to include Lindsay into the list of the unstylish celebrities in this very period but it would be unfair to other women if I missed her here. Lindsay Lohan designs interesting leggings and some of her dresses look nice but when she gets dressed she forgets everything she knows about fitting and designs.

#3. Peaches Geldof. She looks bad nearly all the time and I was very surprised when Miss Ultimo invited her to represent their teenage line. She chooses unflattering baggy dresses, too short hotpants, disgusting swimwear… Well, she is #3.

#2. Amy Winehouse. I can’t deny Amy is special and some extremes are a norm for her. But wearing the same pink flats everywhere for… oh, I don’t even know how long, it is too much. Doesn’t she have money to buy footwear? And clothing Amy Winehouse prefers to wear doesn’t flatter her at all.

#1. Courtney Love – celebrity who thinks she is very good in bed but unattractive in appearance. This woman wears everything that doesn’t look good on her. I have never seen Courtney in a beautiful outfit. So, she is the winner, the top unstylish woman in the world!!!

Of course, this is just my opinion but I do have the right to express it unless it doesn’t hurt anyone. So, what can you say about these celebrities? Do you agree with me they are the least stylish? Any other stars to add?
