Keira Knightley graces the cover of Elle magazine March 2010 issue wearing sumptuous outfits from Donna Karan. The actress looks beautiful and confident and it’s hard to say that she can feel outrageous by talks about her poor acting skills. To me she is one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood and I absolutely loved her role in Pirates of the Caribbean. Besides, she is very fashion-conscious and knows how to dress to look stylish.

In the interview she reveals about her attitude to honesty and comments the talks about her lack of talent:

On criticism of her acting skills: “Oh, they still say that! Every time I do an interview with the English press, one of their questions is, ‘How do you feel knowing that everyone thinks you’re a s*** actress?’”

On honesty and surrounding herself with people who tell her the truth: “You have to be selective about the people whose advice and opinions you take. I know [my parents] would never tell me I was s*** because they were trying to hurt me. It would always come from a very sincere place.”

She doesn’t look hugely photoshopped and she wears simple but well-fitting clothes. And it is good as we sometimes need to see that stars are normal people. They like comfort as much as glamour.

Keira claims she’s not a style snob and probably she isn’t judging by the style she’s opted for the magazine shoot.

The King Arthur star looks fresh and young. And the garments compliment her shape a lot. I like the printed tunic and a pair of jeans on her as well as a jacket with light flower pattern.

Erdem told Britain’s The Times newspaper:

In one week Keira Knightley, Samantha Cameron and Sarah Brown all wore my clothes.”

The fashion designer claims it was much to deal with luck that he became famous in a moment. Others work all their life but never get that. But he also feels sure his dresses are very beautiful.

Luck is a funny thing. I am getting attention now because hopefully people feel beautiful in my dresses. I love the idea that a woman will put on my clothes and feel strong, comfortable and confident.”

Speaking about men creating female clothes Erdem said that men could do that better as they are more detached and see what looks good on ladies. But he can’t say all women-designers fail to be successful in designing.

He explained:

I want to say that men are more detached, so our imaginations can run, but there are so many amazing female designers that it would be an unfair statement.”

According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations I’m happy to tell you that Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie and Lauren Conrad turned out to be among the most salable cover faces for fashion magazines in 2008.

At the same time Nicole Kidman, Rachel Weisz and Carrie Underwood were the least.

Of course that doesn’t mean it is the stars’ fault the issues didn’t sell so well. There are many factors to have caused that.

For instance, some of the worst-selling issues were published in January, which is typically a soft month for newsstand sales, or around the holidays, when people were anxious about more urgent economic concerns.

At Vogue, September was very successful having sold 559,000 copies, while the October issue with Weisz on the cover was the glossy’s poorest seller, with only 276,000 copies.

The fall fashion issue had Keira Knightley as the face of the cover.

Elle witnessed the dramatic boost of sales in January with Beckham on the cover. This January issue sold 413,000 copies. The worst was December’s Underwood, registering 253,611.

Jolie’s face was extremely popular with consumers of Vanity Fair and W.

Vanity Fair’s July issue sold 504,785 single copies, while W magazine’s November issue moved 78,000 issues.

Vanity Fair’s slowest seller was “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl, who sold 314,000 copies in January.

And Hilary Swank became the worst performer for January issue of W, selling 27,000 on the newsstand.

Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria Parker promoted the best sales of the year for In Style’s March issue, 888,912 copies were sold.

The underperformer was July with Anne Hathaway at 585,170 issues.

Marie Claire’s best faces were the stars of Sex and The City on July cover.

The issue sold 440,948 copies. The December issue with Jennifer Connelly was the worst performer, with just 191,000 copies.
Harper’s Bazaar hit its records having sold 213,195 copies of its March issue featuring a bad girl Lindsay Lohan on its cover, but November cover with Drew Barrymore wasn’t as buyable and sold 119,501 copies.
Lucky’s September issue with Milla Jovovich gracing for its cover sold best – 336,000 issues, whilst the June issue with Amanda Peet registered only 205,000 copies.

Speaking about Glamour, I can say that Jessica Simpson was the best-purchased cover-girl. The June issue sold 775,000 issues, which was the highest rate for Glamour last year.

Sorry to mention that but our beloved Kidman wasn’t as popular: her December cover sold 460,000 copies — the worst single-copy sales in recent history for the title.

Cosmopolitan felt thankful to Scarlett Johansson in August for the fact the magazine issue sold nearly 2 million copies.

But the worst seller for the year, you’d be surprised, was Simpson on its December issue having sold 1,565,128 copies. As you see her results vary from one magazine to another.

Despite promoting the best sales for InStyle and Cosmopolitan Eva Longoria Parker and Johansson were the poorest sellers for Allure.

Though it was the economic downturn that influenced. The girls appeared on the November and December issues of the beauty title, which both sold 190,000 copies each.

And the best face for the glossy was Victoria Beckham! Her August cover sold 273,000 copies.

The Hills star Lauren Conrad was the best seller for Shape, 447,969 copies were sold in January. However, November issue featuring Ripa, sold just 258,200 copies unfortunately.

Self magazine was best sold in September (376,000 copies) featuring Jennifer Lopez. But fewer readers were interested in Renee Zellweger who became Self’s worst seller in October, selling 254,000 copies.

I wonder why Barack Obama wasn’t among A-listers? Last year was all about him, everywhere and all the time…

The Chanel couturier Karl Lagerfeld, who currently wrote the epitaph for “bling” and noticeable using, has shown a million of ideas for “recession luxury” in his Paris Haute Couture Fashion week collection.

The show was splendid in more ways than one.

The catwalk models wore white paper head-dresses made in origami-style by the Tokyo milliner, Kamo, and their nails were painted in white color.

The idea was a white page,” Lagerfeld said days before his show.

The outfits, gracefully-cut as if with a knife for butter, were in parchment-cream and virgin white. The white color was one of Coco Chanel’s favorite colours from the start of her career in the 1920s.

An casual blaze of black PVC or smoky-grey rose-print appeared through white colors.

The show was placed in a former bank. It’s columns and ceiling garlanded with elaborative white paper flowers and doilies.

Designer commissioned a floral Eden crafted from 4,000 meters of clear, pure paper.

Paper is my favourite material,” Lagerfeld declared and “wanted everything graphic itself, no bling-bling”

This great idea came to Lagerfeld just after his over-the-top Russian-inspired attendant show in December:

Everything was so pushed — housecleaning was needed.”

Of course, here was no lack of complete delight, a line inventively devised and infallibly executed, from the marvellous paper headpieces crafted by Japanese hair artist Katsuya Kamo to various chic takes on observer sandals.

And the real miracles of the day: the outfits.

Designer Lagerfeld sent out fantastic day clothes line working a celestial focus — tiered construction in different shades of white color.

The main of the looks was a square shoulder, often in a short, straight capelet.

These were high atop small jackets and crisp A-shaped skirts with an accidental flash of crisp black trim.

The classic Chanel cardigan suit was renovated, in tweed, silk and sequins, as a present-day two – or three-piece; its jacket crease to a demountable ‘yoke’. The skirt is an A-line with inverted pleats or over-panels at the sides.

A plain suit featured a rustle of chiffon at the wrists; a dress’ odd lace motif was styled from feathers.

We are entering a phase of reality fashion.” said Lagerfeld. “This is right. This is exactly what Chanel did; she wore the clothes she designed. We talk about the financial crisis, but it is also healthy. People who have been making 20% increase, year after year, and then are not making 20% any more, they are not poor. So don’t cry for them. We have got into bad habits and it is not a bad thing to have a new starting point.”

Tight rows of bugle beads settled shimmery stripes, spangles played as polkadots, and the bride wore an ascetic sequined Sixties Space Age jumpsuit outfit, her eternal vain train decorated with paper fancywork, done by M. Lesage.

Keira Knightly, the British actress and the face of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle scent, was among the celebrities seated at small tables to watch the show, along with James Bond girl, Olga Kurylenko; Marianne Faithfull and Anna Mouglalis.

In the interview for Glamour she talks about her choice of being an actress and how her parents would have been much happier with her doing anything apart becoming an actress.

My mother is a writer and my dad’s an actor. But, no, they didn’t. I think they would have been happier if I hadn’t done the same thing as them.

I think they would have been over the moon about a career that has certain securities that you certainly don’t get if you’re an actress. Nobody knows whether you’re going to do well or not.
