Beautiful Valentino Spring/ Summer 2012 Collection

If during London Fashion Week it was Erdem that presented a fabulous collection of lace dresses, during Paris Fashion Week Valentino did it. The brand’s Spring/ Summer 2012 range was ladylike, stylish, delicate and chic. It included fantastic floor-length gowns which featured plenty of embroidery and flowers. There were also dresses that went just above the ankle and they were as gorgeous. For simpler occasions Valentino created cocktail dresses but these couldn’t disappoint either.

Speaking about new details in Valentino Spring/ Summer 2012 collection we can mention puffed shoulders, long sleeves, hand-painted floral prints and velvet flower appliqués. Besides, some dresses were made of leather which was much unexpected from Valentino. And to add some more freshness to the collection the designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri sent their models down the runway wearing flat shoes instead of sky-high heels.

London Fashion Week: Erdem Spring/ Summer 2012

If last season Erdem Moralioglu set fire with his dresses, for Spring/ Summer 2012 he went for a calmer palette. His creations were no longer aggressive, they were sexy and exquisite.

Having used plenty of sheer organza and lace for his Spring/ Summer 2012 collection the designer made pieces which left lingerie exposed, and not only lingerie actually. Moralioglu commented on his collection: “[…] more undressed, more décolleté, more skin, nape, and spine”.

Erdem’s Spring/ Summer 2012 collection celebrates the beauty of a woman. Sheath dresses accentuate figure, lace shows how incredibly good this figure can look and flower print (which is almost as widely used in Erdem as in Mary Katrantzou’ Spring/ Summer 2012 collection) adds romanticism and femininity.

London Fashion Week: Mary Katrantzou Spring/ Summer 2012

Carnations in a variety of bright colors created the atmosphere of beauty and friendliness at Mary Katrantzou’s Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion show. Flowers were everywhere: growing out of the catwalk and on stunning dresses models were wearing.

The designer said the inspiration was not only the flower but lots of things:

Man meets machine meets mother earth, an army of petal, metal, print.”

Such an explanations leaves you with an impression of a chaos but there was nothing of this kind about the collection. Moreover, the range Mary Katrantzou designed for Spring/ Summer 2012 season was exquisite and totally chic.

While Mary Katrantzou’s Spring/ Summer 2012 collection featured various pieces including trouser suits, cropped bombers, treggings under skirts and other, dresses were obviously the focus. Cocktail dresses featured stiffened, sculpted shapes, incredible prints of flowers, birds, fish, etc. Besides, they came embroidered with stones and with fantastic trains that added glamour to them.

London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum Spring/ Summer 2012

Considering the fact Burberry is the iconic British brand we couldn’t have expected anything plain for the Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion season. And we weren’t disappointed. The collection was amazing. The color palette, the silhouettes, the accessories – all was wonderful.

There was one thing really surprising though – nearly all items in Burberry Prorsum Spring/ Summer 2012 collection were much warmer than we normally wear in those seasons. But probably it was the English weather that had influenced Christopher Bailey. And Africa maybe, something tribal felt in the range – the wild prints?

The focus of the collection seems to have been on coats. Those came in plenty. We could see classic trenches (Burberry’s signature), cropped jackets with raffia on hoods, and parkas perfect to protect from rains and winds. Multi-colored peaked caps, in the same woven natural fabrics, with pompoms on top, finished the wintery looks.

Burberry Prorsum Spring/ Summer 2012 collection featured high-waisted skirts that softly cascaded to mid-calf, stylish tops with wooden beads on them, and a few dresses which were pretty classic but colors were too bright for formal occasions.

In great contrast to such a warm collection came the shoes, majority of which were actually sandals richly decorated with beads, and other interesting details.

One more fact to mention here, Burberry Prorsum showcased every look from their Spring/ Summer 2012 collection via Twitter even before the show started. This is what Christopher Bailey said on it:

Twitter is instantaneous and I love the idea that streaming a show can be in many different forms. This collection is all about the most detailed hand crafted pieces and fabric innovation, creating a beautiful physical experience that is communicated digitally in dynamic and diverse ways and I love balancing those two worlds.”

Kristen Stewart Shows Interest In Fashion By Attending Mulberry Spring 2012 Show

Kristen Stewart, who is rarely seen in anything other than jeans and a t-shirt, seems to be trying to get involved into fashion. The actress attended Mulberry Spring 2012 fashion show in London and sat in the front row along the supermodel Kate Moss.

Kristen Stewart looked lovely in a printed minidress and a pair of ankle boots. Her hair was darker and longer than usual but looked nice.

Kristen said that as an actress she had to stay involved into fashion:

Actors and actresses have a hand in both words [acting and fashion]. You have to stay involved in it to be interested. I love what I wear, I mean I love choosing what I wear”.

Talking about her own style she admitted she had ‘phases’ in it:

I have different versions of myself and a standard uniform – I wear jeans. It’s cool to have another side of things. I have phases.”

The Twilight star also mentioned she loved London very much because no one followed her:

The people are really great. I like walking around here, I don’t really get bothered by anyone.”

Burberry Prorsum F/W 2011/12 Fashion Show – Most-attended during London Fashion Week

It is no surprise that Burberry Prorsum Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 fashion show was the most-attended show during London Fashion Week. Both UK and US stars sat in the front row. Among the British celebrities Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung and Samantha Cameron appeared at the Burberry fashion presentation while Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson and Vogue editor Anna Wintour had to take a plane to get to London.

Kate Bosworth was all-dressed up in Burberry pieces: pencil skirt pavéd with spikes and studs, leather biker jacket and a pair of matching ankle boots.

She commented on her outfit:

Everybody is asking me if it hurts to sit down with the studs, but it doesn’t at all, it’s just very heavy.”

Alexa Chung proudly showcased her neon blue bag from Burberry Brights handbag collection. Rachel Bilson chose to wear a pair of high-heeled Burberry boots from Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 range.

Chloe Green and her famous father and Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green also attended the Burberry Prorsum Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 fashion show. The girl said she worked on her first women’s wear collection that was planned to launch in November.

She said:

I haven’t named it yet. Hmmm. Maybe I should call it Project One?”

People who hadn’t been invited to the show could watch it live at Burberry stores across the globe as well as on Piccadilly’s main screen.

London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012

Very beautiful, wearable and of course expensive – Burberry Prorsum garments looked impressive on the runway of London Fashion Week. Models strutted the catwalk in Burberry signature trench coats, woolen suits, fur coats and hats, as well as high platformed shoes. Christopher Bailey said his Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection (See Burberry Menswear range for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012) was inspired by “Coat-dressing. And Jean Shrimpton—who was in one of our adverts, photographed by Patrick Lichfield, in the sixties. Oh, and the weather.”

Coats were definitely the focus of Burberry Prorsum Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection. The colors of those were cheerful and ranged from scarlet to sky-blue. The plaid pattern was incorporated wisely, as always. The coats were often matched with white or black fur hats that added just another sparkle of glamour to the looks. Some coats were richly trimmed with fur which also looked luxurious.

And while coats were a hit of Burberry Prorsum Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection other clothing didn’t look that attractive. Tweed suits and ensembles were stylish but the hues disappointed a lot. Dirty green and amber pants belling to cover the shoe were a miss, as were the shoes that reminded of Balenciaga 2006 footwear creations.

Oops On The Runway

It happens to every girl sometimes but when you see it on the runway you feel happy deep inside that even supermodels trip on their shoes. At one of the most anticipated fashion shows – Burberry Prorsum Spring/ Summer 2011 - during London Fashion Week one of the beauties fell down right in the middle of the catwalk causing a stir in the audience. Some say that Sarah Jessica Parker even clapped at the moment from her front-row seat. No one can say for sure if she was glad or upset about the accident.

It was the closing up minute of Burberry Prorsum fashion show when people were enjoying the view of a studded biker jacket on Nina Porter (who is the Burberry face by the way) when suddenly all the attention turned to the wearer whose knees met the floor in an awkward manner. Her heels, which were called ‘savage’ by a fashion journalist caused the problem. This season Burberry’s shoes are even higher than before, so no wonder models couldn’t walk straight in those.

However, I can’t but mention that Nina Porter isn’t good at walking the runway at all. She looked stooped and obviously uncomfortable strutting her fashion stuff. I’m not actually surprised with what happened.
