Glamorous clothing is cool and we all like it. But on the daily basis majority of us prefer casual garments – tees, jeans, and sneakers. And this is just what Elizabeth & James brand offers its clients in Textile collection for Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion season.

American model Abby Brothers looks simple and stylish in casual pieces from Textile collection by Elizabeth &James. She wears a number of colorful t-shirts and tank tops, jeans and legging, overalls and denim shirts as well as comfy sneakers.

Tees and tank tops in Textile collection by Elizabeth &James are rather loose while leggings and jeans are super tight, which makes the good contrast to play with.

Many items of the Textile range come monotone, in pastel hues, including peach, pale pink and yellow, blue and coral. There are black and grey pieces, too. However, some feature washed and bleached pattern. There is a pair of jeans with a floral print, it looks very unusual.

Just like clothing in Textile collection by Elizabeth &James sneakers are also colored. The colors are the same mentioned above and are perfect to finish the outfits.

The two designers are known for their grungy style. Ashley and Mary-Kate have recently explained why they love wearing baggy and layered clothing. They told it was media that made them dress that way, and… laziness.

Surprisingly enough the Olsens manage to design beautiful garments. And for their The Row fashion line the sisters were nominated for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear. Unfortunately they didn’t win but Prabal Gurung was a deserving candidate too.

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen on fashion shows and probability of making a full show for their most successful line The Row: A: “I really don’t like going to runway shows. I don’t like being around a lot of people, I don’t like being in crowds, so that’s another more personal part of it. It’s hard for me . . . [But] there are a couple of shows that I’ve been to that are just stunning . . . so if you’re going to the right thing at the right time, it can be fantastic.” MK: “We just feel bad for all of you guys who have to schlep everywhere and then write your reviews in the car on a BlackBerry.”

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen on having Twitter accounts: “That gives me so much anxiety.” MK: “We’ve spent our whole lives trying to not let people have that accessibility, so it would go against everything we’ve done in our lives to not be in the public.”

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen on their style dubbed by media as ‘homeless chic’: “That moment [first years at NYU] for us was us waking up, going to school, and not wanting anyone to take our picture. Kind of a piece of protection.” MK: “For me, it was so cold, like the wind chill. How could you not put on 20 things when you’re going from Los Angeles to walking through the snow? . . . I think it was probably that. And laziness.”

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen on the design process for The Row: A: “It all starts with the fabrics . . . Then we go into kind of silhouette development, so we start figuring out our silhouettes, what we’re liking, what we’re leaning towards, an evolution of the previous season, certain pieces, so it really starts with this stylized proportion. Then, through that process, we start our pattern making off the silhouettes that we’re liking and the consistent themes that we start finding, the shapes. So we start twisting the fabrics and then we start trying different fabrics and patterns. And once we have all the fabrics, we have about three weeks to produce the collection.”

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen on The Row‘s brand consistency: MK: “If you go through our entire collection, you’ve seen it all before. Meaning, pieces repeat. That fur T-shirt, for example, that’s this T-shirt [points to plain one she’s wearing] from a couple of seasons ago, so it’s always consistent. It’s just about how we can evolve and also give the option to either buy this version or that version, creating a story.”

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen on their long hours spent managing multiple brands: A: “I don’t think it’s the creative process that has ever gotten to us. More than anything, it’s about trying to find balance with work and how we can personally stay balanced while having our corporations grow, and I think that’s been the biggest thing that we are constantly aware of. We have to put boundaries on scheduling. We work crazy hours every week, so it’s been more about figuring out when we need to put our foot down. ‘We can’t add this extra meeting. It’s one too many meetings in a day; push it later.’ So it’s been about that. And with The Row, it’s about how to elevate the process with growth without putting too much on the overhead.”

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen on being women designers: A: “I think the way being women has helped us in our designs is that we do a lot of research on what women like, what women don’t like.”

Marc Jacobs along with Proenza Schouler are nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year. And the third person to join these designers is Alexander Wang, who’s taken home two CFDA awards already, two years in succession. He is actually nominated for three categories, the one already mentioned, Accessory Designer of the Year and Swarovski Awards for Menswear. So, he will definitely win at least one. Good luck anyway!

I’m also happy to see the Olsen sisters as nominees for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear category for their The Row line. I do hope they take the accolade.

Carey Mulligan, who was named the Best-Dressed Woman of the Year by Harper’s Bazaar magazine, opted for a gorgeous Chanel dress from the French label’s Fall/Winter Haute Couture Collection.

Gossip Girl starlet Leighton Meester looked wonderful in a custom-made Prabal Gurung dress. She was the visual proof of the fact Prabal Gurung deserved his award.

Kim Kardashian arrived at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards with designer Zac Posen wearing one of his fabulous designs – a floor-length blue gown with a colorful pattern in front.

Diane Von Furstenberg looked luxurious in her white knee-long dress and a fur coat over it. To finish her look the designer chose a pair of golden heels and a pretty clutch.

Pamela Love’s dress looked amazing – very feminine and sophisticated.

The Olsen sisters opted for their usual fur coats. They should definitely be more imaginative with their outfits!

Accessory designer Tory Burch also attended the ceremony of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. She wore a tight-fitting floral-printed dress.

Keri Hilson’s option for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards looked great. Her assymentrical printed dress did attract attention.

The dress Karlie Kloss appeared in at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards was very beautiful by itself. But sincerely speaking it didn’t look impressive on the model. A woman with curves would look better in it.

The same thing I can say about Jacquelyn Jablonski who donned Thakoon creation to the ceremony.

Chanel Iman was wiser in choosing a dress for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards than her fellow models. The Altuzarra creation looked fantastic on her.

Another Gossip Girl actress, Blake Lively, also rocked Chanel design from the latest 2011 Spring/Summer Ready to Wear Collection. The see-through dress looked very sexy.

Christina Ricci strutted the red carpet with designer Peter Som and wore one of his elegant designs.

British model and TV host Alexa Chung also attended the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. As usual she opted for a vintage look. By the way, Alexa is in the running to be named London’s style ambassador at the British Fashion Council’s annual gala on December 7. Some of her competitors include Emma Watson, Stella McCartney, and Tilda Swinton.

I like the blue cover the most. Mary Kate Olsen looks very fresh and feminine here. The dress flatters her and the blond hair blown about by the wind completes the romantic image perfectly.

Other pictures in Marie Claire September 2010 edition feature Mary Kate Olsen wearing pretty fur garments and oh-so-fabulous Givenchy red laced-up booties.

In the interview for Marie Claire magazine Mary Kate Olsen talks a lot about her and sister Ashley’s fashion lines – The Row, Elizabeth + James and Olsenboye - which are very different in style and price range. She also says that one of their dreams is to dress the First Lady Michelle Obama:

I’d love to get Michelle Obama in The Row. The simple suits and things. It’s all made in America, so why not?”

Actually The Olsens aren’t the only ones who want to design an outfit for Michelle Obama. Victoria Beckham said previously:

I would love to dress Mrs. Obama absolutely absolutely absolutely! I just think she’s incredible and she’s a very strong woman and she’s beautiful.”

Talking about how their fashion sense has developed through the years Mary Kate Olsen told she and Ashley were taught to dress tastefully and elegantly from an early age.

She told America’s Harper’s Bazaar magazine:

When we were growing up, our mother taught us never to have your belly button exposed.”

And finally we have a chance to look at first photos of Elizabeth and James collection created by renowned young designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The collection has recently premiered and is aimed at Fall 20110 season to wear.

To tell you the truth I haven’t expected a lot from the sisters taking into account their own way of dressing but I do like the range they’ve designed. It looks interesting and unusual just like everything that has to be made for the ‘young, versatile and undecided generation’.

The range includes oversized shirts and vests, pretty coctail dresses (I love the black one trimmed with feathers!), skirts and pants of extraordinary shapes and lots of other things. This collection is certainly to become a hit!

But while guests abroad had to put on retro red and green glasses to enjoy a simulation front row experience, the red carpet in London was dotted with stars rocking Burberry creations from previous collections.

Lots of celebrities were willing to attend the presentation but only few really had a chance. Among those were: Kate Hudson in a bottle-green sequin Burberry dress, Twilight star Kirsten Stewart in a richly pleated skirt from the S/S 2010 range, fashionista Mary-Kate Olsen in a gorgeous black coat, Claire Danes and others.

Everyone was excited with anticipation. When the lights went out all the talks stopped. Burberry Cadette Girls show began… Lots of military-inspired garments, famous Burberry coats, pleated dresses and so much popular thigh-high boots captured attention. (Read a detailed review of the show.)

All over the globe Burberry fans attended parties, by invitation only – it was a great honour to have been invited! Others could watch the show on the Internet on the label’s website. But it wasn’t the 3D anyway.

Bailey, the label’s chief creative officer, said:

We are very excited we are hosting the first ever truly global fashion show. This unprecedented event will enable people to experience the energy and atmosphere of this show from around the world. 3D technology will bring our global audience into the London show space allowing them to see the colours and fabrics, to hear the music and to be a part of that moment when it all finally comes together.”

Some pieces of outerwear and accessories from the upcoming collection have been put on the company’s website to be available to order immediately after the show took place.

The decision to broadcast the show in 3D format was made after the success of James Cameron’s Avatar. Of course it had cost Burberry lots of finance and efforts but it was worth it. The immediate success!

Kristen Stewart was one of those who attended this event. The actress wore a Pucci Origami Strapless Wool Dress that looked good on her. Kristen felt happy at the ceremony as she was named the Woman of the Year.

Naomi Campbell looked fantastic in Alexander McQueen’s dress and a pair of perfect black heels. The supermodel received the Outstanding Contribution award for all her charity job.

Leona Lewis looked classy in a black frock complimented with a black hat, lace fingerless gloves and beige shoes. The attire was gorgeous but it seems to me Leona looks older in it.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen looked beautiful and trendy in their outfits probably created by themselves.

Carey Mulligan didn’t sport a dress on the red carpet but appeared wearing a black pencil skirt and a blue blouse with a black belt.

Sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue were together at the party. Kylie looked fabulous in her strapless LBD. Dannii rocked a yellow one-shoulder gown that covered her baby bump beautifully.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley opted for a red sexy frock that flattered her figure a lot.

Donna Ari went for a chic sparkling black dress, a yellow clutch and a pair of silver shoes.

Sophie Ellis Bextor looked stunning in her navy Grecial-style dress.

The women that didn’t impress me with their fashion choices for the evening were Daisy Lowe who looked horrible in her Miu Miu dress with cut-outs, Claudia Schiffer in her shapeless total black dress and Nicola Roberts who chose a bright pink outfit that was too short.
