Designers have presented plenty of dresses in their Spring/ Summer 2012 collections. Some are simple and minimalistic in design, others are more elaborate and even pompous. Floral print has a tendency to come back every summer. During Spring/ Summer 2011 it was superhot. Nearly every designer made at least one outfit featuring it. Carolina Herrera’s collection was fully based on the concept of beauty of flowers.

For Spring/ Summer 2012 floral print is to be as trendy. This time Blumarine focused on the print and created the range which was literally blooming. Maybe it was too extreme but the effect was impressive. Other designers and brands that used the floral prints extensively include: Iceberg, D&G, Mary Katrantzou, Erdem and others.

Nature print is a little unusual but it seems to be gaining popularity. Images of trees, flowers, leaves, sun, sea and other can’t leave you untouched. Holly Fulton, Dries Van Noten, and Alberta Ferretti were among those designers who decided to play with the nature motif.

Continuing the theme of nature it should be mentioned that during Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion season animal prints will be hotter than ever. And this doesn’t only include the leopard, snakeskin and zebra prints but also full images of tigers, birds, cats, lizards and sea creatures.

Wild & ethnic prints will also be trendy in Spring/ Summer 2012 season. Such prints look interesting and unique and wearing them you will definitely make a stand out.

Kaleidoscopic prints are new for us. In Spring/ Summer 2012 these prints will become great additions to daring fashionistas’ wardrobes. Britney Spears, who turns 30 in December this year, looks much younger her age on images for Glamour October 2011 edition. She demonstrates her flat tummy and toned legs (just a couple of months ago these were covered with some horrible cellulite) rocking a pair of hotpants, unusual bra and long and chic fur coat.

Britney Spears on planning big celebration of her birthday in December: “I think the older you get, the wiser you get. I can’t wait. I’m really excited and definitely gonna celebrate and do something spectacular. I’m gonna be in South America so I’ll have to do something pretty fun. A carnival of Britney?”

Britney Spears on the possibility of Prince William and his wife Kate attending one of her London concerts: “That would be amazing. That would be really crazy and cool. I think they’re a beautiful couple. Unfortunately I didn’t get to watch the [royal] wedding, but I heard it was beautiful.”

Britney Spears now looks much better than in her troublesome years. However, it seems that not just good looks are necessary to make the ideal fashion magazine front page. I hope so, anyway, because I do think Britney deserves to be happy and less criticized now.

There are four basic styles of bags in Matthew Williamson’s 2011 collection – cute small clutches, with or without chain handles; roomy shoulder bags; totes and tiny diamond-shaped handbags with interesting kaleidoscopic pattern.

Francesco Trapani, chief executive officer of Bvlgari, said they decided to team up with Williamson due to “the great sense of colour and design he brings to his work”.

The designer is the first who has been offered the collaboration. Now Bvlgari accessories are created by a design team based in Florence.

The collection is to be made for Spring/ Summer 2010 and will be unveiled at Milan Fashion Week in September.

Williamsom is to be very busy soon as he has recently told about a menswear line he is to create for the coming season.

He said:

I wanted to start a menswear line of slim-fitting, luxury cashmere jumpers in a range of great colours. I know these jumpers will become season-less staples in my own wardrobe. Cashmere and silk printed scarves and hand-beaded T-shirts complement the line and form a solid foundation for the collection to grow next season.”

Matthew Williamson does his best to get his place in fashion industry. He has to work hard and long. His whole life has become consumed by work.

The designer is famous for his outstanding vision of womenswear but this isn’t what he is going to do all his life. He wants to dress men, too. Moreover, he is already creating outfits for the stronger half of the humanity.

His debut collection is to be launched soon but now Matthew still has a lot to do.

He said:

I’m working from eight in the morning till 10 at night every day right now. I don’t really have much of a life, I really don’t. I went out last night for the first time in god knows how long. I go home, eat my dinner and go to bed. It’s not how I want to live forever; it’s not healthy to be this consumed by your work.”

Making a full menswear line has been a dream of Matthew’s for a long time. He has once created a range for high street store H+M with clothes for both men and women and the success the line had gave an inspiration for the new work.

He told The New Review magazine:

I’ve always wanted to do menswear – it’s never been a struggle to think about how it look, but I guess H+M is the reason for why now. That was a really nice project, as I got to deign clothes I could wear myself. And it sold well, so I was chuffed. It inspired the thought that it really could happen. This range is just us dipping our toe in to begin with. We’ll see if people are interested, then hopefully we’ll build on it.”

Sexy bustier and bra tops are not to be worn underneath our clothes any more. They are our clothes!

The trend was spotted at Stella McCartney, Fendi, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Isaac Mizrahi shows.

Knotting and draping

Nothing complicated. The role model to be copied is Ancient Greek clothes. Fits perfectly and glosses any shortcomings over. Im totally into Burberry’s dresses!

Legs in shorts

Summer is a perfect season to show the strongest weapon of all women- legs. It is high time to use it. Watch out, guys! It’s up to you which one to choose tap pants from Cynthia Rowley or some micro shorts by Balmain ,short shorts and boy shorts by Blumarine or hotpants from Mark Jacobs.  You’ll hot in any of them!

Sheer

Light see-through dresses and blouses are a good way to turn up the heat this spring. They are so sexy but never vulgar. So don’t be afraid to choose some chiffon dress for a party like Vera Wang’s or the tiny one by Versace.

Blazer

Top the feminine dress with an austere blazer. Pair the pantsuit with some high heals-  elegance is our strength, girls!

Prints, and moreover patterned pants!

This summer is so rich in prints even our trousers are no longer to be block color. Some sweet patterned pants were spotted at Matthew Williamson and Luella, DKNY, Etro, Balenciaga , Anna Sui’s fashion shows.

There is a huge variety of print patterns to wear: stripes, florals, graphic prints and abstract shapes.In any of them  you’ll look fashionable.

Touch of sparkle

The trend that is built to last. The only rule: try to be chic not showy

Belts

Show off your curls and accentuate it with a skinny (like Pringle of Scotland and Paul Smith) or wide leather belts (Oscar de la Renta and Gucci). Every fashionista knows the right way to wear them!

Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits keep abandoning runways and our lives too! I would say more: jupsuits are must-haves this summer!  They are so easy to wear. Pair your jumpsuit with some big accessories and you won’t leave a party unnoticed.  The one like Vera Wang’s will do the thing!

Nudity and ice-cream colors

The vast majority of shows opened up with all shades of nude, peach and lavender colors (Donna Karan, Versace, Burberry, Miu Miu)

While some people might be scared that wearing nude will make them look pale or washed out, this can be a colour that anyone can embrace.

White

White is definitely a summer color. Laconic clear lines and the noblest color together will give you tremendous effect.

So hit the ivory coast with an all-white palette of romantic and immaculate looks in everything from softly tailored pantsuits(Gucci) to whipped-up, airy little dresses like Cacharel’s.

He said:

If the collection is successful the British couturier will continue working on clothes for men, The line which will be unveiled for Spring-Summer 2010, is to be expanded seasonally.

One will be able to find Williamson’s pieces on shelves of London’s Harrods department store and Matthew Williamson shops.

The fashion designer even couldn’t understand why his sister was unaware of what career she wanted. The boy had never contemplated doing anything else.

He said:

I wanted to be a designer from the age of about 11. There was never any question in my mind. I just knew. I remember my sister couldn’t decide if she wanted to be a nurse or a teacher, and I was like, ‘How do you not know?’ “

Matthew’s parents could hardly understand their son’s aspiration as their jobs were rather simple – his father sold electrical items, his mother worked as an optician’s receptionist – but they didn’t try to persuade him to choose something different.

He said:

I think it probably was quite shocking for a parent to have a son who wants to be a fashion designer, but for them it was a spark of uniqueness and that grew into pride. It was like, ‘Well, thank God he’s got passion.’ “

When Matthew entered London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins college, he was the youngest among 60 other boys but he was probably the most talented.

He explained to Britain’s The Observer newspaper:

I became absolutely determined to go there. The plan was to go to a place in Manchester to do a foundation year first, but in the interview this woman said, ‘What you have in your folder is what we expect when you leave the foundation course.’

Now the designer is known all over the world and plenty of famous people admire his designs. The list of Williamson’s fans include: Sienna Miller, Lindsay Lohan, Jade Jagger, Cheryl Cole and Helena Christensen.

The same is true about an acclaimed designer Matthew Williamson who says his first muse was his mother.

The British designer is now working with A-celebs like supermodel Kate Moss, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow but everything he has now he owes to his mother whose flawless look motivated him to enter fashion.

He explained:

I think my first fashion moment was watching my mom prepare for work. She used to prepare meticulously the night before and I would sit at the edge of the bed and question her. She was a little bit like my first muse.”

Besides the mother, his muses later have been Jade Jagger and actress Sienna Miller.

Sienna Miller is still interesting for the designer. He likes the way she adapted her wardrobe to the tough times of nowadays.

He said:

The credit crunch means people spend on things they love rather than trends. Sienna Miller looks great because she’s not afraid to mix designer pieces with cheaper things.

Iconic pieces are good buys at the moment. A brightly coloured belt is my all-time tip – a cinched waist looks great on everybody. A pink patent-leather studded belt transforms a T-shirt dress from being casual and beach-y to a glamorous silhouette.”
