It’s a worthwhile cause to support your favorite celebrities. In case you’re a huge fan Judi Dench, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Sporty Spice Melanie C you can bid for a pair of their shoes and donate to De-Feet campaign.
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Organisation is Britain’s:
Only charity wholly dedicated to defeating lung cancer. The aim of their De-Feet Campaign is to raise awareness for lung cancer which is still a top killer. The organisation provides funding for research, public education and support for sufferers and their families.”
Anfield legends John Aldridge and Alan Kennedy, Bread actress Jean Boht, Big Brother winner Craig Phillips, ex-Hollyoaks stars Terri Dwyer and Paul Danan, and Shameless actress Tina Malone have also put their shoes up for grabs.
Shoes belonging to boxer Ricky Hatton, singers Sir Cliff Richard and Gary Barlow, entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne, racing driver Lewis Hamilton, and TV presenters Lorraine Kelly and Fearne Britton can also be presented.
Paul Gauntlett, the foundation’s director of development, said:
There are so many great ways to get involved with De-Feet day and help raise money.
I am looking forward to hearing about the events as they happen across the UK.”
Shoes on offer include those Hamilton wore for the Monaco Grand Prix and those Dench wore when she played the James Bond character M.
Sir Cliff Richard, friend of Roy Castle and life president of the charity, said:
I would like to encourage everyone to support this important campaign to raise much-needed funds for its life-saving work.”
I have donated a pair of shoes, to be auctioned on De-Feet Day, and I hope there will be lots of keen bidders.”
Dragon’s Den star Bannatyne said:
Many people do not realise lung cancer is the UK’s biggest cancer killer.
“The De-Feet campaign aims to raise public awareness about the reality of the disease.
“The message is serious but the campaign is proposing some really good fun and quirky fundraising ideas.”
The foundation was established by surgeon Ray Donnelly in 1990.
The bid stars September 12.
