It is a common fact that designers can get inspired from almost anything. Van Gogh’s sunflowers, Shahrazad’s stories and even music festivals’ fun can bring ideas into designers’ heads. Dean and Dan Caten used the latter idea and created their Spring/ Summer 2012 collection for Dsquared2 which models then splashed with mud on the runway.

No, you haven’t misunderstood me. During the Dsquared2 Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion show the runway floor was first sod and then after sprinklers started working it all turned in a muddy mess. And models had to go through it to showcase the pieces.

Speaking about the fashion of Dsquared2 for Spring/ Summer 2012 season we have to admit the focus was on accessories rather than clothing. While clothing was pretty ordinary and included mostly denim shorts and shirts, printed and glittering tees (sometimes depicting the American flag), studded jackets and miniskirts the accessories were much brighter and interesting.

First of all Dsquared2 sent their models down the catwalk in vibrant rubber boots which looked great and being fully covered in mud created that very atmosphere of a festival. Bright knee socks finished the look.
Long scarves, mannish belts, stylish hats, necklaces which looked more like fringe elements, flashy bracelets, and super colorful sunglasses were fabulous.

While we did expect Emilio Pucci’s signature military-sharp blazers the brand’s designer Peter Dundas flooded the runway with airy gypsy dresses. Those dresses were so amazing and sexy that we immediately forgot about everything that had seemed significant before the show. We dipped into the boudoir fashion, the new world of Pucci.
Dundas revived the boudoir fashion which was unfairly forgotten by both fashionistas and designers. But it was not the fashion we saw back in Fall 2010. The new approach was more demure but truly womanly.

Emilio Pucci Spring/ Summer 2012 collection unveiled during Milan Fashion Week abounded with flowing sheer fabrics, seductive lace and summery prints. Floor-sweeping skirts, cropped tops often in shape of a bra, chic cocktail dresses and summer suits were all made with huge attention to details and looked mesmerizing.

Accessories didn’t come in plenty as outfits could say all for themselves. However, we have to mention the unique way Dundas used scarves to finish his looks for Emilio Pucci. He didn’t only tie those around models’ waists to make accents, he also put those around girls’ elbows to bring attention to these parts of a woman’s body.

Versace Spring/ Summer 2012 collection was all about the sea life. It featured lovely colors of turquoise, sea green, grey, and aqua. Prints which looked really fabulous showed sea shells and scallops. And the girls all looked like sea goddesses with their beautiful hair cascading as if it was floated on water.

Versace Spring/ Summer 2012 collection comprised brand’s signature minidresses and amazing floor length gowns as well as bandeau tops paired with bloomer shorts and jackets. Shoes were all platformed and adorned with flower-shaper details.

Missoni Spring/ Summer 2012 collection unveiled during Milan Fashion Week was smothered in color, frills and fringe. Talking about the color we can mention all shades of blue – from ink and aqua to royal and cerulean, bright yellow, magenta, lime, green, tangerine, etc. Frills and fringe came everywhere – adorning edge, hip, and neckline. They appeared on dresses and jackets, cropped tops and swimwear, even bags and shoes.

And flamenco is nothing without flowers. And while those usually come to beautify girls’ hair in Missoni Spring/ Summer 2012 range they were featured on sandals.

Taking ‘picturesque summertime in a small town in southern Italy circa the 1950’s’ as inspiration Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana did everything to help us almost ‘feel’ the atmosphere of that time. An outdoor market was showcased with the help of the abundance of all kinds of vegetables as prints. You could see zucchinis, tomatoes, hot peppers and other patterns featured on dresses, bra-tops, hotpants, jumpsuits and even jackets. But luckily for us, fans of Dolce&Gabbana luxury, this was just a part of the collection.

The second portion of Dolce&Gabbana Spring/ Summer 2012 looks was much more attractive in terms of elegance and chic. Lace cocktail dresses which followed soon looked lovely and so pleasing to the eye. Girls on the runway turned into beauties again. They looked feminine and so summery.

The last part of Dolce&Gabbana Spring/ Summer 2012 collection comprised fab corsets encrusted with colorful crystals as well as dresses made in the same manner.

Rumors have been circulating since March this year about Dolce&Gabbana planning to close their youthful D&G line. Until yesterday nothing was confirmed. But during Milan Fashion Week before the D&G Spring/ Summer 2012 show started Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said they would no longer produce the affordable line.

The two designers commented:

For the upcoming seasons, D&G will become part of Dolce&Gabbana, giving even more strength and energy to our collections. To us, it’s like going back to when we began our adventure: full of ideas.”

Of course D&G couldn’t disappear from the fashion horizon without showcasing the last jaw-dropping collection. Their Spring/ Summer 2012 range was bigger and more impressive than ever with each piece made of colorful scarves.

Scarves were beautifully wrapped around models’ bodies, they were used to make skirts, blouses and even panties. Prints were mixed to the extreme as were the colors. Despite the fact it was a real turmoil it looked stylish, like everything from D&G.

Speaking about designs we can say they were fresh and daring, sometimes a bit crazy but in general lovely and sexy. The runway dappled with colorful sunfrocks, maxi and mini dresses as well as pants and bloomers.

Accessories in D&G Spring/Summer 2012 collection were as vibrant. Prints, tassels and tiny sizes of bags made those look cute and interesting. Jewelry was very Dolce&Gabbana – luxurious, elaborated and eye-catching.

The central concept of Hermes Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection was nomadic travel. And the clothing, most of it, was wide enough and comfy for plenty of walking and riding. Some of the garments made in shape of suits were too broad and some looked even ridiculous but as parts of this collection they were very harmonious.

Sweeping caftans, elongated kurtas, kimonos, super wide quilted coats and hooded jackets – these all looked amazing. Occasional elegant pieces like leather knee-length skirts, and white coats with asymmetric collars or pockets, added glamour to the Hermes Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection.

The color palette was practical and ranged between desert neutrals to imperial red, orange, and jade green.

The details in Hermes Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 range were interesting and included obi belts, tassels, lacquered bracelets and pendant neck pieces. However majority of footwear didn’t impress much. Paired with tights in the matching hue the golden shoes looked weird. But leather and suede high-boots were stylish.

The color scheme in Angelo Marani’s Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection was limited enough and comprised camel, golden, brown, black and deep orange hues. Leopard and python prints were also used in plenty. The garments had intricate design, were richly embellished with sequins and gold thread. Accessories included hats, chunky necklaces, patterned handbags and scarves, and ultra wide leather belts.

The pieces in Brioni Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 range look brilliant. Tapered pants in vibrant purple, red and electric blue, modernized coats trimmed with fur richly and feminine blouses with interesting neck details are what attract attention.

Shoes in Brioni Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection don’t really come in innovative designs. But they do look great and would be perfect for many clothing styles. Bold necklaces were disappointing though.
