The collection Angela Missoni presented during Milan Fashion Week for Autumn/ Winter 2010/ 2011 was all about knitwear, Missoni family heritage. It was grandiose and super-warm, perfect for winter cold. Missoni is one of those brands that really make clothes suitable for cold weather.

The show had some kind of universal tribal spirit. It included items inspired by Celtic, Masai, punks’ cultures. Pieces looked beautiful and comfortable. Blanket coats looked funny though.
Lots of simple knitwear skirts with quite ordinary prints looked good in combination with elaborate flower-patterned scarves and long voluminous capes. Warm shorts were matched to woolen tights but at the same time bellies would left exposed.

I like the trousers in herring-bone pattern with side pockets that even had creases like on classic pants. However, lingerie that was used widely in the collection as outwear wasn’t the best idea. Actually it was good only for catwalk and there would hardly be anyone willing to wear all these pieces together.

Shoes didn’t seem to be flatteing but bags looked pretty as did sunglasses.

It’s cold outside and we all want spring to come as soon as possible with its warmth, sun and greenness. And while there is little brightness out there we can think about things that can enliven our life.

Spring-Summer 2010 season sees lots of bracelets worn all over the arm, from wrists to forearms. And the diversity of styles and designs is huge.

John Galliano and Lanvin created very elaborate and chic pieces, with lots of beads, chains and gemstones.

Jean Paul Gaultier preferred plastic to other materials and made very extravagant bracelets which could be worn on forearms and elbows.

This is the first collection from Milan Fashion Week that I’m going to give the review for.

The choice wasn’t sudden, I do love Missoni a lot. And winter collection was fantastic.

Now the Spring/Summer 2010 range is very much similar to the one for cold months and I think this isn’t very good as summer is too warm and we prefer light fabrics anyway instead of cashmere and mohair.

However, speaking about the designs I can say they are new and interesting. I liked long clinging dresses, skirts and tops.

Layers are in plenty and they look nice but I still consider there are too many of those for a sunny season. Loose-mesh cargigans are beautiful and stylish as well as tank dresses worn under them.

Accessories are present though not in quantity.

Long knitwear jewelry, whistles on silver chains, bracelets gripping each bicep, and low-heel sandals with woven souvenir ankle bracelets for straps are very feminine innovations to the collection.

Milan Fashion Week presents Angela Missoni’s Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 collection.

Angela Missoni, an heiress of a house with one of the most distinctive signatures in fashion, has done much to continue her parents’ work which is both a blessing and a challenge for her.

Of course, she is great in creating knitwear items, but it can be a bit complicated to start something new and unusual for the brand.

For fall Missoni decided to stay true to the label’s knitwear traditions and produced plenty of fabulous pieces. The line was made in a “cool and slightly hip-hop” mood.

The latter influenced the soundtrack mostly, while the clothes played more like an upbeat romp through the land of luscious knits.

Somehow an Arabia spirit affected the garments as well. The most evident prove for that is layers – lots of layers. Long and short cardigans, some trailing into extra-long scarves; lamé miniskirts and shorts; boxy men-inspired coats; silk slip dresses; ribbed leggings and great leg warmers; and plenty of hooded scarves.

Frankly speaking I am a scarf-lover, that is why those terrific scarves seem to be the best for me in this collection.

Angela Missoni has not surprised us much with her pre-fall 2009 collection that looks just right to her style. The line is interesting and at the same time very simple. Nice prints create a very eccentric look.

The collection includes knitwear in slinky jersey and wool and cashmere knits, with an abundance of double-breasted jackets and dresses, some with knitted lace sleeves.

Simple and elegant, as usual.

Turtlenecks, opaque patterned tights and ankle boots make the collection look very warm and thus perfect for fall and winter cold weather.

We are looking forward to seeing the whole collection in February. And I’m sure the most interesting pieces by Missoni haven’t been shown to us yet!

Look for them in Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Missoni, Neil Barrett, Prada and Valentino collections.

Purple has emerged in women’s collections last season but this year it was as well taken to the men’s lines.
