2. Duchess of Cambridge has had to go through a lot of difficulties to get to the position she occupies now. But she did that with grace. Catherine looks elegant and sophisticated no matter what she wears: a luxurious designer gown or an inexpensive dress she has bought in a high street store.

3. Kirsten Dunst hasn’t been very fashionable throughout the years but this year she has made an effort and now her every red carpet appearance is a hit.

4. Blake Lively has become a real red carpet star this year and a regular on Best-Dressed Celebrity Lists. She is invited to nearly all more or less important events and every time she arrives she steals the limelight from other celebrities. Keep that, Blake, and good luck!

5. Emma Stone is another fresh face in celebrity fashion area. This girl has won our hearts with both her acting and way of dressing. Whatever brand she wears she makes the designer feel proud of his work.

6. Chloe Moretz is only 14 but she is already a trendsetter. She has her wardrobe fully packed with clothing from most reputable designers and when she wears those at glam events no one doubts that it’s the star strutting on the red carpet. We are sure she will be included into Best-Dressed Celebrity lists every years from now.

7. Michelle Williams has played Marilyn, the woman who is still a style icon for many. So, this woman just can’t be at the bottom with her fashion choices. She knows that and does everything to keep up with her new Michelle-Marilyn image.

8. Victoria Beckham is both the designer and model of her own designs. She creates timeless pieces and demonstrates us the best way to wear those. Even her baby-daughter, who is a few-month-old, is already the most stylish celebrity kid of 2011.

9. Anne Hathaway is one of very few stars who NEVER looks bad both on the red carpet and in real life. She knows her assets and dresses to flatter those. Besides, let’s not remember her Oscar hosting when she changed over ten outfits without a single faux pas!

10. Elle Fanning is even younger than Chloe but she is no worse at dressing. The muse of Marc Jacobs and Miuccia Prada, the actress looks wonderful in chic garments from her favorite brands.

While Karlie Kloss has confirmed recently that she is going to walk 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Rosie Huntington-Whiteley denied the rumors about her participation. The model-turned-actress commented:

I’m not walking this year. I’m working that day.”

Rosie has walked every Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since 2006 and joined the brand in late 2009.

Italian-American model Vanessa Hessler was fired from her position as the face of an international telecommunications company for opening up about her relationship with Colonel Gaddafi’s son, Mutassim. She also mentioned she considered Gaddafi family a ‘normal’ one.

Vanessa Hessler told Italian magazine Diva e Donna:

The Gaddafi family is not how they are being depicted, they are normal people. I didn’t have any contact with him since the uprising broke out, but our relationship was one of passion.”

German telecommunications company Hansenet GmbH commented on Vanessa’s dismissal via Twitter:

Vanessa Hessler’s relationships are private business. However we cannot accept her comments on the Libya conflict.”

Miuccia Prada has always created unusual clothing but she rarely was seen wearing something as quirky. However, fashion journalist and magazine editor Katie Grand says the designer likes fluorescent underwear:

She wears fluoro underwear. . . . Well, I don’t know if she still does, but when we last worked together she’d quite often have fluorescent underwear on and I so loved that about her! It was so unexpected.”

Sarah Burton has finally shared on how much pressure it was for her to keep the fact she was designing Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress. No one knew it but everyone wanted to know if that could be true. However, the designer says it was great to keep that big royal secret:

It was so great to actually keep a secret, especially in this day and age when everyone talks about everything.”

Sarah Burton also opened up about what she felt standing in Westminster Abbey and waiting for the happy couple to arrive:

I remember standing in Westminster Abbey thinking, ‘This is unreal’. It was like a fairy tale. And all I could think was, ‘I hope I don’t trip over’. I didn’t realise the enormity of it until much nearer the wedding day. It was a magical experience.”

She mentions though that she considered to not take the job at first:

I definitely considered not taking this job. I was at such a loss, he was such a huge part of my life, my every day. I could finish his sentences but I didn’t know that I could begin anything, and that terrified me.”

Photographed by Bruce Weber Miu Miu Fall 2011 ad campaign looks very pretty. Colors are subdued and the background hints that to wear designer clothes you don’t have to live in a mansion. However, Miu Miu isn’t a cheap brand and you will have to pay good money for a piece. This also raises a question on why Miuccia Prada decided to use Hailee Steinfeld in her campaigns if teenagers (and that’s the audience of Hailee’s) can’t afford Miu Miu designs.

In contrast to Prada Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 collection (see Prada Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 ad campaign) that seemed granny-like to me, the new Spring/ Summer 2011 one is much fresher and more youthful. We see neon hues playing with elaborate cartoonish prints, bold flesh-exposing designs combined with strictly official minimalistic ensembles, and lots of fun derived from unusual shoes and chic colored fur tails.

I like the collection very much. It reminds me of my teen years when I pulled on various clothing pieces that at first sight seemed absolutely incompatible but when together and assembled right gave that pretty exravagant and sophisticated look I was always proud of. But Prada is Prada and even now being a smarter lady I feel I still can wear such pieces, designer pieces actually.

The collection for Autumn/ Winter 2010/ 2011 unveiled during Milan Fashion Weeks features beautiful items that would be perfect for various occasions. Dresses are luxurious and glamorous as well as trenches and coats.

Collection is obviously inspired by last-century fashion tendencies that are presented with a modern twist. Miuccia Prada says it’s classics that she was aiming at.

She said:

It’s normal clothes. Classics. Revising the things I did in the nineties.”

Ruffles, high waists, wide skirts, upstanding pointy-bra formations and other details in the range remind us that retro fashion is always a win. Hair done up in sixties beehives just add to the feeling of being trapped in the chic of the past.

The group of models strutting the runway included big names in modelling, such as Doutzen Kroes, Catherine McNeil, Lara Stone, and Miranda Kerr – young women who embody femininity and beauty.

The 706-page tome tells about 30 years of innovations and experiments in fashion, art, architecture, cinema and communications.

For Prada, fashion, luxury and style go beyond producing an infinity of clothes and shoes, so the book wants to illustrate the various aspects through which Prada expresses itself,” said Bertelli, chief executive officer of Prada Group.

The book is aptly named “Prada” and is published by Prada Progetto Arte. The price for that is 100 euros ($150). You can find it in Prada stores worldwide, in select bookstores and on prada.com.

She explained:

I’m working on a men’s collection right now and someone at the office worriedly asked me, ‘You’re not going to make short skirts again, are you?’ So I’m now pushing it even further, just for revenge!”

The 60-year-old designer likes inventing things. She prefers to work on unusual fashion styles as these stop her from being bored.

She said:

Menswear should take cues from womenswear, and not just the other way around. Menswear is so limited so I’m free with my ideas. Otherwise I’d die of boredom.”

Miuccia also noted that she hates “cliches” associated with the work of designers.

She said:

I hate the cliche of fashion designers since the beginning. And so because I came from another background – and actually being a feminist at those times, not that I’ve changed so much – I didn’t want to do anything that fashion designers were doing.”

So, men will be soon advised to wear super-shorts skirts. Well, probably this will look interesting on some of them.

Short, high-waisted dresses with nice prints, quirky but elegant pantsuits, cutouts on the torso – were the designs Italian designer Miuccia Prada made for young and fashion-conscious.

I was questioning innocence, questioning youth,” Prada said backstage. “What do they mean today in a world that’s the opposite?”

The prints and embellishments were interesting enough: the cat and bird and dog patterns, as well as holographic paillettes and crystals embroidered on sheer nude mesh insets.

Some dresses looked too childish to wear as well as a few blouses. I can hardly imagine some stars like Madonna, Kate Moss or even Lily Allen wearing any of these.

The accessory line was very limited. Shoes came all in the same style but in various colors and different detailing. Handbags were simple, though some of the clutches were nice.

And as in many other designer collections we saw a braid – the top hairdo of the next season!

Two models fell down right on the catwalk wearing high-heeled reptile-leather shoes. The designer didn’t get upset, she even felt pleased (!!!), as this falls made her show at Milan Fashion Week last September memorable.

She said:

I liked it. It made the show more interesting.”

While Miuccia was enjoying the success her models were terrified about walking out in those skyscraper-heels.

One beauty said:

I was having a panic attack, my hands were shaking. The heels were so high. Some of the girls were crying backstage they were so scared.”

Well, maybe the designer wouldn’t agree with me but no fashion is worth people’s suffering. This has to be stopped.
