It was not easy for Sarah Burton to take after Alexander McQueen in the brand founded by the genius deceased designer but she was able to cope and went even further. She designed the wedding dress for Duchess of Cambridge, the dress that was named one of the most beautiful wedding dresses of all ever created. So, the title that Harper’s Bazaar gave to Burton yesterday – Designer of the Year – was well-deserved.

Sarah Burton received the accolade at the Harper’s Bazaar’s Women of the Year Awards that was held at Claridge’s Hotel in London last night. She wasn’t the only one to be honored at the event. Designer Tom Ford was presented with Man in a Woman’s World award. Actress Helena Bonham-Carter took the Role Model of the Year prize. Models Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova, Yasmin Le Bon and Cindy Crawford all were named Fashion Icons of the Year.

Givenchy gown was white and the color looked just perfect on Naomi’s dark skin. The dress was embellished with dozens of green stones which the supermodel teamed with green earrings. As for her hair, Campbell opted for a simple look and left the hair fall around her shoulders freely.

Naomi hasn’t considered all facts necessary to become a designer. Besides having a talent and skill one has to “feel” her designs, understand the idea and love it to the deepest of her heart. Naomi Campbell isn’t a jeans girl. I would understand if she put her hands on the creation of dresses – she always wears those. But jeans, no. Kate’s designs were so popular because she was the one who daily promoted her creations by wearing pieces in the same way, in her very unique style.

To add to this, I don’t get it how a person with such experience in modeling and fashion can compare jeans to pasta. Talking about versatility of her creations Naomi Campbell said:

Jeans are like pasta… you can interpret them differently each time and play with the accessories. Wear them with flip-flops if you want comfort, or heels if you want to look sexy.”

I like the way DailyMail reporter describes Naomi’s statement:

Her latest comments – comparing jeans to pasta – actually make a surprising amount of sense… in a Forrest Gump kind of way.”

And to finish, I want to show the outfit Naomi Campbell wore to the presentation of her jeans collection for Fiorucci. The combination of items is ridiculous… Well, anyway, Good Luck to you, Naomi!

Naomi Campbell said in a statement:

I am shocked. It’s upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humor in this. It is insulting and hurtful.”

Naomi’s mother, Valerie Morris, was also hurt to see the ad.

She commented:

I’m deeply upset by this racist advert. Do these people think they can insult black people and we just take it? This is the 21st century, not the 1950s. Shame on Cadbury.”

The ‘racist’ advertisement was featured on billboards and in newspapers. Black civil rights groups are now trying to urge shoppers to boycott products of Cadbury’s U.S. parent company, Kraft Foods. The representative from one of the groups, Simon Woolley, said the problem of being compared to a chocolate bar went much deeper:

Racism in the playground starts with black children being called “chocolate bar”.”

Cadbury immediately reacted to the complaint and removed the offensive posters. An insider of Kraft Foods said:

It was certainly never our intention to cause any offence and the campaign itself is a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss.”

Emma Roberts appeared at British Fashion Awards 2010 in a sparkling girlie Julien Macdonald dress that looked great on her. She teamed up her frock with black tights and ankle boots.

Victoria Beckham, who was nominated for Designer Brand of the Year, opted for one of her own designs to grace on the red carpet. She looked elegant and sophisticated.

One more look attracted my attention. Kimberly Walsh strutted the red carpet of British Fashion Awards 2010 in a cute strapless dress that she paired with nude-colored pumps and a clutch.

The 40-year-old supermodel, Naomi Campbell will have to stop walking the runway and start the daily routine of doing special exercises to improve her state. She has already hired a trainer who helps her get rid of the problem. Regular massage sessions must also bring good results.

According to reports the disease has been caused by years of modeling. While other beauties quit the job at the age of 28-32 Naomi is still in the business. We hope she will soon feel better and keep on gracing campaigns and appearing at glam events.

Kate Beckinsale looked glamorous in a light rosy Grecian-style dress that wrapped around the slim figure of the actress just perfectly. The assymetrical gown was complemented with a pair of silver high heels.

Naomi Campbell never leaves her boyfriend alone. This time she again arrived at the party with Mr Doronin. The couple looked very harmoniously. Naomi wore a little black dress with lace side insets.

Another couple that attracted attention was Paris and Nicky Hilton. The sisters looked good but not as stunning as usual. Paris rocked a blue strapless gown while Nicky sported a cute white frock.
