Avril Lavigne keeps on working on her own clothing line called Abbey Dawn. As you might know she launched the first collection in July 2008 and received rather warm reactions. It looked cool and girlie and what is more important, it was affordable.
Now it’s 2010 and Avril is still working, that’s good. In September last year the Canadian singer presented her line at New York Fashion Week. The collection was received well, though there were a few negative responses too.

Fashion journalists criticized the range by saying it was not new, not special or surprising. But Avril doesn’t listen to those offensive remarks. She knows that there can never be only success and love. Everyone goes through difficulties to get what he wants.

Avril likes her collection and is happy to talk about it.
She says:
[There’s a] lot of hot pinks and blacks and stars and purple and zebra. Basically, everything I wear. I have a very particular style. I want it to be available to a lot of girls, and I want it to be affordable. What’s really important to me is that everything fits well and is well-made, so I try everything on and approve it all. The hoodies are slimming. It’s not a thick, bulky material.”

Now we have a chance to see the new Abbey Dawn collection being modeled by Avril herself.
The clothes are all in rock-and-punk style with all those prints and bright colors. Jeans, hoodies, T-shirts, sneakers, leggings and suchlike pieces are what the collection includes. Looks lovely and youthful, an dalso feminien, something we couldn’t expect.

Alexandre Herchcovitch is a designer who has his own special view of fashion. For his Spring/Summer 2010 collection, which was at New York Fashion Week, he chose the theme of football but actually the outfits reminded me nothing about this game, maybe because I don’t really like it and never watch it either.

Fashionably speaking the clothes were eccentric and mostly unwearable in normal life situations. But those girls who never consider what other people think about them might want to try these. I’m obviously not the one of those.

The designer likes zippers and bold mix of colors which we see in plenty in the line. However, nude hues are also widely presented.

Vera Wang is a designer who likes femininity and simplicity combined. And this idea is fully embodied in her Spring/Summer 2010 collection at New York Fashion week.

Pretty dersses made of light and often sheer fabrics (mostly chiffon) were the center of the line. All of coctail length they looked very womanly but without too luxe.
Embroidery and occasional gemstones adorned the frocks much. The dress I liked the most is the black one with flower-detail attached in abundance. A very glamourous piece!

The designer included lots of shorts into the range adding to the comfort of the wearer. Shorts were easily paired with blouses, basketball tees, an organza skirt combo, a metallic gauze halter tank and even a poufy ballerina skirt.

Slouchy leggings were nice to look at, too. Combined with a cascading top they looked fabulous.

The collection unveiled duirng New York Fashion Week didn’t cause a super stir but was given a warm reception.
Nothing was really innovative except for the idea of track jackets wrapped around waists and prolonged into tank dresses and shirtdresses.
The pieces looked unusual and they might be interesting for those who like style experiments.

Generally the collection was focused on short dresses most of which were blue and green bright. Some were adorned with feathers and sequins but mostly it was the gloss of satin that made them so noticable.

Some dresses were an absolute mess: with huge cutouts and even bra parts separated from the skirt ones.

Just a few accessories were used including chunky braceletes, a coulpe of vibrant-colored handbads and sunglasses that turned the heads of the audience.

This designer is one of my favourite that is why I can hardly say something bad about his cretaions as I love them all. The new Spring/Summer 2010 collection showcased during the New York Fashion Week was in no way a disappointment for me.

The clothes were brilliant: bright, attractive and perfect for party wearing. The color pallette was diverse and included only vibrant hues, like rich blue, neon pink, vivid green, warm yellow and a little of chic black.

Dresses were dominant in the line. Mostly these were short coctail frocks beautiful in design, with no huge patterns – just little sophicticated ones. A few floorsweeping gowns looked nice and were made of light fabrics like chiffon, organza and satin. Gowns with flower prints were fabulous.

Shoes and clutches were all classy and complemented the garments ideally. Clutches with a kerchief detail were a great innovation and looked fantastic.

Ball gowns and party dresses with full skirts by Denis Basso looked wonderful at New York Fashion Week.
It seems that this designer knows exactly how a woman should dress for special occasions: luxurious farbrics, interesting designs, gorgeous shoes and, of course, furs.

I’m an evening kind of guy,” Dennis Basso told about himself backstage before his show.
“Cocktail is really my niche.”

Dresses from his collection Spring/Summer 2010 with flirty bubble skirts looked very feminine, especially those of one-shoulder style and with python-bustiers.

What I liked a lot were the flowers in patterns of materials and those seemed-rather-stiff ones attached to skirts.
Flower design is surely back!

All the models were wearing thigh-high sexy stockings, some of which were cleraly noticable under the shorter garments.

No one ever doubted that Rodarte collection would be in any way similar to others. The two super-talented sisters do know exactly how to amaze people.

The new Spring-Summer collection is a parade of post-apocalyptic warrior princesses. The models were wearing unusually torn and twisted garments on hugely inked bodies. Tribal tattoos were everywhere, from the girls’ shoulders to wrists and together with fierce vampire-looking makeup created a bit bizarre impression. To add to that, the models had to walk a black sand-covered runway, through the thick fog of dry ice Nicholas Kirkwood bondage heels.

Short dresses with twisted plaid and raw-edged fabric, longer black gothic dresses embellished with feathers and strips of leather and a pair of skinny black rocker pants with silver zippers and cut outs along the thigh and calf and lots of other really weaird outfits looked unspeakable .

Kate and Laura Mulleavy said the collection was inspired by a trip with Johnson Hartig of Libertine to California’s Death Valley.

To tell you the truth I have never seen such a casual collection from Ralph Lauren before. It’s interesting of course but very unexpected.
No elegance of sophistication is seen in the garments but they do look great for daily teenage wear.

As Ralph Lauren explained he looked to Dust Bowl era workers—”the farmer, the cowboy, the pioneer woman”.
As it turns out the designer wanted to celebrate what is truly and uniquely American. And he succeeded.

The Spring/Summer 2010 collection was presented at New York Fashion Week. It is full of denim – all mashed up in a variety of color washes and levels of destruction.
Ripped denim boyfriend trousers go with workwear shirts, mannish vests and newsboy hats; Holly Hobbie housewife dresses are matched with caps and platform sandals – everything is comfortable and reserved. No bright details or embellishments are used.

However, there are some evening dresses – not too much equisite but still nice-looking. I especially liked a silver gown made to look like a pair of overalls. Really unusual designer desicion!

I definitely love Oscar de la Renta! Perfect, perfect, perfect!!! What a fabulous collection for Spring/Summer 2010!
Beautiful colors combined with chic classy designs make the garments created by the designer look more than impressive.
Oscar de la Renta decided the recession idea was no longer interesting and turned his collection into a mixture of sun, fun and elegance.

Bright orange, electric blue, rich gold, pure white, fresh green, eccentric purple, luxury brown and jet black – this is still an incomplete list of hues the designer has chosen for his creations.

There are long gowns for evening wear and short nice cocktail dresses, classic frocks appropriate for officewear and romantic outfits for dates and walks with friends. Everyone will find something for herself.

Accessory line is really interesting.
There is a variety of hats including summer casual variants and a few chic classic versions good for special occasions.

Besides, lacy kerchiefs come in a diversity of shapes, most are black. I can’t say they look great because they bring some kind of negativity and look a bit gloomy.
But white kerchief looks amazing!
