Kim Kardashian is going through a hard time now (Although I don’t really believe she loved Kris, all the divorce thing is always very painful.). But instead of expressing compassion or at least not expressing anything people do queue up to kick the reality star while she is weak. And PETA seems to be the latest to make an attempt to humiliate her.

What they are going to do is the usual practice for them. They are set to erect a huge billboard in Hollywood condemning Kim Kardashian’s love to wear fur. Kim’s picture will be put next to a photo of baby foxes with a message: ‘Kim: These Babies Miss Their Mother. Is She On Your Back?”

It is reported that PETA have warned the reality star they would do something like this but nothing worked. PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said:

Kim knows that animals on fur farms are beaten, electrocuted, and often skinned alive. We’ve explained it to her, and she’s watched a video exposé that was filmed inside fur farms. When Kim is ready to put an end to her relationship with fur, PETA will be happy to take her discards and donate them to the homeless.”

The situation is worsened by the fact Kim’s sister Khloe posed nude for a PETA anti-fur campaign before.

In hard times of economic downturn majority of designers tried to bring costs to a minimum by creating less expensive and simpler clothing. But there were those who did their best to resist the situation and kept on producing luxurious pieces affordable for high class only. They used plenty of fur and that way established it as a trend, pretty ridiculous at that moment. So, fur has been with us even in that period, no wonder nowadays (during Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012) when people have more money and are more financially stable it stays as popular.

For the fashion season of Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 designers have used loads of fur in their collections. But the trend itself has transformed a bit shifting from total fur look to fur details. Fur is no longer the focus of collections, it’s more of an accepted and ingrained part of those.

For Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 fur trend is best expressed in fur coats, but it also serves well to interpret the season’s other dominant trends. For example, in Gucci Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection fur was necessary to show the chic of the 70s.

Fur (all kinds of fur –long, short, faux, real) has been used to trim collars and cuffs as well as sleeves and hems of jackets or skirts. Sleeves could go either full fur or stretch along the entire length of it.

While in previous seasons fur came almost exclusively in more or less natural colors in Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 it arrived dyed in bold, often unexpected hues. Purple, green, blue, red – all these tones of fur are to be trendy this season.

Fur hasn’t only been used on clothing. It also decorated accessories like hats, boots, gloves and even bags.

Groups like PETA have done what they could to stop designers using fur in their collections and we can’t say they haven’t reached their goal, at least to some extent. Now around a third of designers prefer making wearable pieces from fake fur. However, when there is demand there is always supply. So, genuine fur is still widely-used because many customers love it, love the way it feels and looks. It’s just a matter of personal opinions and beliefs that an individual choose what to wear.

Photographed for Japanese Men’s Vogue Lady Gaga is all nude with cuts of red raw meat covering her body strategically. Even her head has a slice of flesh on it. I wonder what she must be feeling at that moment. Disgusting. Really.

This Gaga’s shocking outfit hasn’t gone unnoticed, of course. Animal rights campaigners have already condemned the singer saying:

Meat represents bloody violence and suffering, so if that’s the look they were going for—they achieved it.”

Ingrid Newkirk, president of animal rights campaign group PETA said:

Lady Gaga’s job is to do outlandish things, and this certainly qualifies as outlandish because meat is something you want to avoid putting on or in your body. No matter how beautifully it is presented, flesh from a tortured animal is flesh from a tortured animal.”

Pamela Anderson’s ad for PETA was a very special one. The actress was photographed in a tiny bikini and all her body was divided into separate parts, like ones a butcher divides an animal’s carcass into. The picture is funny to look at but bringing some good thoughts actually.

So, Pamela flew into Montreal yesterday to launch the PETA ad campaign but at the last minute she had to learn the required permit had been refused by local officials. This made the star really disappointed.

She said:

In a city that is known for it’s exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that a woman would be banned from using her own body in a political protest. In some parts of the world women are forced to cover their whole bodies with burqas- is that next? I didn’t think Canada would be so puritanical.”

PETA’s senior Vice President, Dan Matthews added:

I think that city officials are looking at this lovely ad and confusing “sexy” with “sexist”.
A City spokesman informed PETA about their decision by a statement: ‘I have to inform you that we, as public officials representing a municipal government can not endorse this image of Ms. Anderson. It is not so much controversial as it goes against all principles public organizations are fighting for in the everlasting battle of equality between men and women.”

The ad campaign for PETA with Pamela Anderson was due to be revealed outside of Montréal’s Place Jaques-Cartier. However, now it is going to be unveiled at Restaurant Globe Thursday morning.

The actress was photographed naked for a billboard featuring her sitting with elephants on the background. She looks great and maybe even convincing to someone.

The problem she tried to focus attention on is that little elephants are ‘torn from their mothers at birth and then bound and electro-shocked as babies in order to break their spirits’ and resistance. Animals spend all their lives performing stupid, meaningless tricks being constantly scared of physical punishment, including beatings with bullhooks-sharp, metal-tipped implements that resemble fireplace pokers.

Speaking about the urgency of the problem Olivia explains:

When you look at something like the circus and everyone’s laughing and there’s color and there’s music and everything seems so great, but when you go right behind that door and they’re in these crates all day long and then they’re getting shocked and beat just so they can get up and dance around on a ball .. it was just so sickening.”

The ad reads: “As Nature Intended, Let Elephants Be Free. Boycott the Circus.” The billboard with nude Olivia is located at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Los Angeles.

If you want my opinion, I will say that I do like animals a lot and I feel compassionate to them. Maybe the appeal to stop showing them off in circuses can work and they will live more or less free. However, there is something that I don’t really understand. Why did Olivia get undressed? There were no slogans like “I’d rather go naked” or something. She could talk to people being fully dressed-up! Or don’t we already see women with their clothes on???

The recent Chanel collection for Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 featured plenty of fur. Karl Lagerfeld claims all of it was fake. But while using fake fur in his creations he doesn’t say he is against wearing fur at all. The designer states fur should be worn only by those who can afford it.

He said:

If you cannot afford it, just forget about it. Don’t use it as an investment piece to show people how rich you are. Use it like a cheap knitted thing. It’s like a big stone. Lucky you that you can have a big stone, but if it troubles you financially to have the stone, don’t have the stone. If you can afford it, OK. But if you think it’s an investment, then forget about it.”

Karl admits he “doesn’t like” animals being killed but he has no problems with fur farming because it is a way for people in rural areas to make a living.

He commented to Vice magazine:

My father was not really a farmer, but I spent my time around the country so I know everything about country life. There’s nothing else to trap in those areas. That’s why I always say, when people talk about not using fur, ‘Are you rich enough to make an income for the people in the north who live from hunting? What do you want them to live off of when there’s nothing else to do?’”

The theme of the collection was the global warming or ‘the global cooling’ as Lagerfeld called it, and its effects on our lives. Male and female models had to walk on a wet surface of the runway sometimes sending little droplets of water to the front row where stars like Lindsay Lohan and Vanessa Paradis were sitting.

The huge chunks of ice on the stage were absolutely real as were the models strutting in head-to-toe coffee-colored yeti suits and shaggy snow boots. The line was more couture than ready-to-wear though I am sure it would have lots of fans living in normal climate.
The amount of fur amazed everyone but PETA activists should not call Lagerfeld bad names, the fur was fake.

The designer told The Telegraph:

It’s so good now, technical advances are so perfect you can hardly tell fake fur from the real thing. Fake is not chic – we have got a new Chanel tweed to stop copies – but fake fur is.”

Only best models were chosen to wear the luxurious pieces on the catwalk including Freja Beha Erichsen, Lara Stone, Abbey lee Kershaw, Coco Rocha, Sasha Pivovarva and others.

Brown tweeds, capes, bonnets, furry trousers, coats – all had a level of lavish elaboration usually reserved for haute eveningwear. Accessories were perfect. Jewelry was very similar to little pieces of ice, sparkling and mysterious.
