To produce the perfume Queen Latifah teamed up with Parlux Fragrances Inc.

She said:

The company is the same company that did Paris Hilton’s perfume and they just did a deal with Jay-Z.”

They approached me about developing a scent and I thought if I could create something that is unique to me and special enough for women to want to wear it and maybe some guys, then I will be very happy with that. I personally like to wear a nice scent, and, if I like it, I’m buying it for years and years – so that could be really cool.”

I love fragrance and the idea of having one of my own, that was tailor-made for me and my own sensibilities, I thought it was a fantastic idea — ego aside,” joked the award-winning rapper, actress and singer in a phone interview from Los Angeles, where she was trying to select photos for the cover of her new album, “Persona.”

The fragrance was aptly named “Queen” and is described as “reminiscent of aged Tequila.” The scent contains citrus notes of Italian bergamot and Mediterranean mandarin. In addition, the rare Baie rose joins jasmine noir, while cognac meets Moroccan coriander. Base notes include also Indonesian patchouli and sandalwood as well as vanilla and Tonka Absolute. And the last to add is Egyptian incense and musk.

Initially a lot of the ingredients smelled nice, but they weren’t how I wanted to be represented for my first fragrance — they were a little too mature or a little too sweet,” said Queen Latifah, who had to smell about 50 different scents before she could come up with the scent she liked best.

The new fragrance is all about the “state of love”. This is what Latifah says about it:

For me, beauty really does start on the inside. It’s like a state of mind, a state of love if you will. So I see fragrance as justa natural expression of this stae of love: scent expresses a woman’s confidence and sensuality; it’s how she embraces her body, her mind and her strength”.

The ‘Queen’ eau de parfum spray will come in two sizes, 3.4 oz. for $59 and 1.7 oz. for $49. A body lotion will be priced at $35 as well as a body butter at $40.

The bottle to hold the perfume is ruby-red, “the color of sexiness and love,” as Latifah describes it. A square shape of the bottle is “to represent the strength of a woman,” while a raised heart on the bottle’s facade is meant to represent beauty from within.

Queen Latifah says she’s a pioneer of fragrances:

Queen doesn’t smell like anything else. That’s what you’re setting out to do — to create something unique. People tend to want to borrow from what’s popular, and me, I try to be a pioneer, a trendsetter.”

The photoshoot for the advertising campaign was made in February by Timothy White in Miami. The scent is to be launched in August. Can’t wait!

Now I want to show you the fashion and style of People’s Choice Awards 2009.

Carrie Underwood hits the red carpet in a strapless floral gown at the 2009 People’s Choice Awards.

Carrie changed three dresses during the night. She sang in a beautiful green dress and then she put on an orange sparkling short dress when receiving the award.

So many gowns! She was the most stylish babe that night.

Lady in blue

Young actress Dakota Fanning wore a  cute one-shoulder blue short dress. She had simple hairstyle and natural make up. She looked fresh and innocent.

Jordin Sparks prefered a blue strapless dress and chose to accessorize it with gold heels and a matching clutch, pendant and coctail rings with yellow stones.

Kate Hudson, a 29-year-old actress, shone in a turquoise floor-long Gucci  dress accessorizing her look with matching two-toned Giuseppe Zanotti pumps, Jack Vartanian jewelry, and a Gucci clutch.

Floral fantasy

Singer Jewel posed in long gown and stayed true to her bohemian roots with a floor-sweeping floral dress.

And Paris Hilton was so cute! I like her white dress with flowers very much. She put on a shining silver pumps. Great!

Innocent white

Nikki Cox dressed a short glossy dress and black heels. As for me, the dress didn’t suit her.

Olivia Wilde chose a white long gown taht made her look like a beautiful grecian goddess. She accessoried her view with gold bracelets and white clutch by Jimmy Choo which complete her pristine look.

Lori Loughlin’s dress glittered under photographers lights. Nice view.

“The Women” actress Debra Messing dressed in extravagant grey gown. The steel grey outfit is sophisticated and praises her outstanding hair and smoky eye make up. Platform heels and matching clutch, gold accessories are all she needs to be amazing.

AnnaLynne McCord emphasized her body lines with slim short sexy dress. But I think her shoes and jewelry was out of her style

Classic black

Christina Applegate was in a black dress with crystals.

Katherine Heigl was all in classy in a black pantsuit at the 2009 People’s Choice Awards. And Reese Witherspoon, Jannie Garth and Teri Hatcher preferred Little Black Dresses.

Hot in Purple

Queen Latifah posed in a fashionable purple silk chiffon gown.

Three color dresses

Jessica Stroup arrived  in a short Herve Leger dress at the 2009 People’s Choice Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Wednesday (January 7) in Los Angeles.

The 22-year-old 90210 actress accented her look with JudeFrances Diamond Clover Hoops and a Rhodolite Marquis Diamond Ring.

The brunette Malin Akerman went in a short blue, black, and white colorblock Jay Godfrey dress. She wore a huge necklace and chunky bangles.

Warm red

Of cause a red color is good idea for glam events. Marisa Tomei and Chandra Wilson were very atractive in their red gowns and gold jewelry.

Rich Gold

Jennifer Morrison arrived in a gold dress at People’s Choice Awards 2009. The dress looks like knight’s chain mail.
