Pumps and stilettos. Despite all hot discussions about how harmful stilettos and pumps are there will always be women ready to sacrifice their health for beauty and elegance. Therefore, such shoes will always be trendy. For Spring/ Summer 2011 high-heeled shoes come in a great variety of colors, from crazy and eye popping hues to reserved and even dull tones.

Flatform Heels. This can be the first time you have ever heard of flatform shoes because this is a new term and it refers to flats that are elevated on a high platform heel, held on by an ankle strap. I would even say that they remind me of summer espadrilles but these are a bit higher. Flatforms do not look very elegant or sophisticated but they do provide great comfort to wearer. Despite the fact the shoes are rather high you can walk easily in these without feeling pain. Chanel, Prada, 3.1 Philip Lim, Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Vivienne Westwood, and Chloé have all featured flatform shoes in their Spring/ Summer 2011 ranges. By the way, flatforms are considered the shoes for 2011!!!

Sonia Rykiel says the inspiration for the Resort 2011 collection was the Côte d’Azur, specifically an Art Deco hotel in the town of Juan-les-Pins, where she spends her vacation time. From the first glance it seems that the range is very typical to Sonia Rykiel, but if one looks closer she will understand that the clothes were designed with ease in mind.

Usual abundance of knits and trompe l’oeil touches were added by a few simple jumpsuits that are so fashionable this season. Ultra-lightweight 16-ply cashmere, fine-gauge merino wool and very airy chiffon were the perfect materials for the Sonia Rykiel line.

What focused the attention on were the high-waisted trousers and pill-box hats – items that give the sense of retro chic and sophistication.

Accessories I saw in Elle France March 2010 issue in Special Accessories photoshoot look fabulous on Behati Prinsloo. The model wears lots of watches, necklaces, bracelets, scarves, bags and belts, all of which look great because they have been chosen well and matched cleverly.

I just love Dries van Noten and Burberry bags, Louis Vuitton sunglasses and Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes. Sonia Rykiel’s PVC handba also looks great!

The award was given to Marc by Culture Minister Frédéric Mitterrand for his contribution to the fashion industry. Marc was called “an iconic designer, a gifted person, but also a hard worker.”

He has really done a lot for the business. Jacobs has been the creative director of French luxury label Louis Vuitton for many years already, since 1997, and since then the company has quadrupled its worth.

Together with Marc Nathalie Rykiel was honored this award. The fashion designer has long been a part of her Mother’s Sonia Rykiel brand.

The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres is an Order of France established on May 2, 1957 by the Minister of Culture. It was later confirmed as an Ordre national du Mérite by then-President Charles de Gaulle in 1963. The aim is to recognize significant contributions to the arts, literature, or related fields.

The people awarded don’t have to be French exclusively. But the government require that citizens of the country must be at least 30 years old, adhere to French civil law, and must have “significantly contributed to the enrichment of the French cultural inheritance.”

There are three grades – Commandeur, Officier, and Chevalier. The latter, which both Rykiel and Jacobs received, stipulates that a medallion is worn on ribbon on left breast.

Among those who have receaived the Order are: Kylie Minogue, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Redford, Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Dylan, Meryl Streep, Jude Law, George Clooney and others.

Now they are no more an accessory, they are a solo fashion trend. And you put them on to brighten up your looks and make yourself more noticeable rather than just to match your dress.

There are classical styles that are always popular. For example, herring-bone pattern, check, stripe, floral and geometrical décor.

Evening pantyhose have a metallic gloss, ornamented with spangles or patterns. Tights for everyday use have to be elegant and monotone.

However, the basic trend of tights fashion for this season is unusual combination and mix of colours and styles.

Bright colours. This autumn and winter tights of these tints are must-have items of your wardrobe. You can find them in Ioannis Dimitrousis and Richard Nicoll’s collections.

Expression. The collections of this season look like a kaleidoscope of various extraordinary models.

For instance, D&G line has a lot of chequered tights in plaid style. Anna Sui, Chanel, Emma Cook, Rodnik, Philosophy, Paul Smith, Cavalli and Emporio Armani’s collections include polka dot panty hose, patterned, python tights or the ones embroidered with cloth leaves or spangles.

Red tints. Colour trends of this season are red tints, rich red-brown colour or raspberry pink hue. They are widely represented in Bottega Veneta and Caroline Charles’s colletions.

Chocolate brown is popular in Ben de Lisi, Biba, D&G, Celine and Paul Costelloe’s shows. Celine, DKNY and Dolce&Gabanna prove the constant fashion for grey colour, now it looks more silver than grey.

Fishnet (Mesh) tights. Those ladies who prefer mesh tights can be happy as they are again in fashion. Lacy mesh tights are included into Rodarte, Baby Phat, D Squared, Betsey Johnson and Emma Cook’s collections. The modern version of mesh tights are distinguished by some elements of Gothic style.
