With Samora’s collection the catwalk and hall looked like a sunny day in Paris at Los Angeles Fashion Week.

The backdrop decorated with picture of the Eiffel tower and a bicycle on the runway that really did make you feel like you were in Paris!

Samora’s spring 2009 line was heavily influenced by la vie francaise.

High-waisted skirts and short jumpers, day dresses, and plenty of flounces and ruffles were pretty and ladylike, and organza overcoats channeled Audrey Hepburn.

The row also included white trousers and blouses, with some rumpled in black and paired up with a layered mint green skirt that looked admirable together, and sheer robes.

Favorites included a white dress with pockets that had a sheer rectangle over the chest making it not your customary bridle, and a floral dress that had ruffles and a v neck hemline as well as a bow that parceled around and cinched the waist.

Four fashion weeks in New York, London, Paris and Milan didn’t add up to a single must-have look for spring-summer ‘09.

That might be just good with consumers who, considering the economic situation of recent days, can be in no mood to start their shopping lists for the next season.

Designers couldn’t have predicted such a picture when they started creating these collections long before their previews in fashion capitals.

Still, there was a collective movement toward a looser shape compared to the buttoned-up style of fall.

The passing of Yves Saint Laurent in June, the time when many designers were putting together their spring collections, also seemed to have a strong influence, especially in safari and tribal touches.

Designers offer a more toned-down version of the collection to store buyers and those probably give a better sense of what’s to come.

Here’s what has to be considered:

FLESHY COLOURS

John Rocha LFW, Narciso Rodriguez NYFW and Blumarine MFW Spring 2009

light grey, white colours as well as flesh and sand tints are becoming popular. The models on the catwalk weren’t necessarily showing a lot of skin. They looked sexy despite that.

A steady parade of nude colours looked pretty ecxiting.

Mix of yellow and orange was interesting. And these flesh tones weren’t used to complement delicate, romantic pieces as much as strong, futuristic looks.

ASSYMETRIC STYLE

House of Holland and Fashion Fringe London Fashion Week Spring 2009

This time designers created outfits with one shoulder only. Most of the models were wearing evening gowns of this asymmetric style. But it was also presented with more casual, shorter silhouettes.

Versace Milan Fashion Week and Elie Saab Paris Fashion Week Spring 2009

The new style creates a longer, leaner appearance; sometimes, though, the outfit just looks askew.

CORSETS

Tight corsets are fashionable again. Corsets were featured in old-school cocktail dresses and playful rompers. Bra tops were also adopted.

Dolce & Gabbana’s bra dresses will be very popular among customers who prefer something with a fitted shape to a flowing silhouette.

There was a clear tropical influence on the clothes for spring/summer 2009. Tangerine orange and pink, together with ocean blues, were presented in large amounts.

Very high heels have become an alternative to a flat summertime-sandal and the ballet slipper.

The shoes on the runway had towering heels, tough-girl styling and sometimes seemingly unstable architecture. The models seemed to experience some difficulty in making it down the runway.

Nicole Farhi’s spring/summer 2009 show was scheduled to take place at 10.30am on Tuesday, September 16 and it was great!

Nicole Farhi was inspired by French Impressionist Claude Monet for her new Spring/Summer 2009 collection launched at London Fashion Week.

A lot of items, including belts, dresses, shorts, skirts and bras was drown from Monet, the French artist who died in 1926.

The clothes had bright and light color feel. A number of striped outfits and variety on the usual striped Navy sweaters were presented on the catwalk.

Designer Nicole Farhi was one of the first British designers to persist on the vogue of linear florals we saw arise at New York Fashion Week. She does it just great.

The outfits’ hemlines were longer and below the knee. Shapes resembled  the earlier decades of the Twenties Century. Some tweaking of the silhouette and prints contained things present-day and chic.

Many of the footwear also had unique flower motifs  giving dresses the view of a pastoral watercolour painting.

There was a monotonous look to the show, with most of the models wearing their hair pulled back, light make up and lipstick. And one model accessoried her look with a large “Obama for President” button.

There was an exact British seaside look going, no American maritime style prevailing.

Carolina Herrera shown her Spring 2009 Collection at New York Fashion Week on September 8 2008. Her line is in a mellow yellow mood. At Carolina Herrera, the air and the catwalk were filled with feelings of sophistication, civility and luxury.

Colors of her collection were awash with the sun-washed hues of persimmon, marigold and vanilla, navy blue and bright red, marigold yellow, teal blue and persimmon mixed with graphic black and white, the trend that also falls in line with what’s been popular with other designers.

The prints were beautiful, the fancyworks were pretty and the super slim suits were very nice. Lovely dresses with organza covers or delicate ruffles played into the casual elegance that has been a strong theme at Fashion Week. Carolina Herrera spraied in the mixing of textures, fabric weights and patterns destructive.

The brand favored by A-lister Renee Zellweger was in the audience. She compatibly plays with the chic, well-heeled woman who has small interest in fashion trends.

September 7 2008, at New York Fashion Week was presented the latest collection of Diane von Furstenberg for Spring/Summer 2009. The new line was initiated by the “Rock Goddess“.

Next spring the Diane von Furstenberg woman will display “the strength of a goddess and the attitude of a rockstar” all the while perforation into her interior flower babe. Designer Diane von Furstenberg believes in the energy of beauty and always presents complete image perfect women in her creations.

The line is made of uber-feminine outfits with sequins, ruffles, bright flowing floral prints. The catwalk models were wearing floral head accessories and floppy hats and carrying large fringed, floral and beaded handbags.

This Spring season’s awakening: Diana Vreeland, one in line with von Furstenberg, said before the show:

The new freedom I hope is in the air.”

Most of the models were wearing feather-and-flower headgear to the ultrafem cassocks with ruffles, sequins and lace. Generosity of florals coated on everything from translucent chiffon dresses to absolute harem pants and even custom-made pieces came studded with sequins.

And many of Diane von Furstenberg fans will love wearing them. Uma Thurman, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Venus Williams were sitting next to Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Molly Sims, Joy Bryant and Anderson Cooper were all there, too.

Some of her devotees, however, might feel a bit left out, as von Furstenberg seemed to have spent all of her notice on a festive flower child, leaving her working girl with a smart khaki safari shift digression, a bit of a power effort.

Popular Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch is stepping up. We can say he is the next crown prince of the international fashion stage. It wasn’t hard to guess the awakening behind Alexandre Herchcovitch’s Spring 2009 collection presented on New York Fashion Week. The title of new line was “Army of Love”. The main theme was a heavily militaristic look broken by a few ornate patterns and ruffled outfits.

Herchcovitch’s runway show on Saturday evening, September 6, was compressed to the rafters, despite the flaw bearing down on the city horizon.

Alexandre Herchcovitch’s strong woman was aroused in dresses with brass buttons, cargo pockets, high collars and strong shoulders accentuated with epaulettes. The catwalk show focuses long beyond foreign political disorder and controversy to include a definitely worldly and international expectation.

The mix of textures - voluminous, diaphanous, overlayed chiffon contrasted with neat ultra-constructed taupe-beige restyled waistcoats and jackets plus glistening-paneled babydoll dresses festooned with matador-or-football style shoulders were presented on catwalk. Materials such as silk georgette with lace and fancywork added another element of femininity and grace.

The Alexandre Herchcovitch collection gives women the way to be strong and sexy, arming them with the clothes they need to brave any encounter.

The Mercedez Benz New York Fashion Week opened Friday September 5 2008: Chill out.

A unbound, light,  imprimitive the first collections for spring 2009, drawing awakening from fantasies of far-off places. Tropical prints united with an easy lout to call up less stressful moments.

When the economy is so bad and with the horrible things happening all around the world, one gets inspired to create a certain kind of beauty,” designer Narciso Rodriguez told The Associated Press before the shows began. He promised an “anti-stress” collection later in the week.

On this Friday, BCBG’s fresh-faced catwalk models had the air of waking up late at a small resort in new collection of clothes. Perry Ellis said two words for its beach-bound buyer— “leisure suits.” And Elie Tahari’s collection was made for the glam couple on a seashore vac, drinking cold cocktails with warm sand between their toes.

Max Azria stopped with his spring BCBG collection. BCBG’s spring collection is very flowy and ethereal, so they wanted to avert the romantic route. The result was casual classic and great. Short-shorts rompers and slim pants were mixed , free shift dresses — many of them one-shouldered made the runway models look like Amazonian goddesses.

The sexiness was exercised tn graceful and draped jersey fabrics that hung without exertion off the body. Designer Max Azria was playing with the airy effect and vac aura. A powdery purple washed silk outfit with a grey belt and satin platform pumps described the nature of the line by combing a loose and draped body with a womanlike and mighty waist that demanded attention.

Some jumpsuits were included, some better than others. An extraordinary wide-leg jumpsuit in a wine color with an careful crosswise bridle top looked more like a sexy maxi dress in the spirit of the 1970s with a current edge, while the skinny-leg discotheque varient seemed more dated.

Several of looks had more of a hard-rock edge, including a black shining vest over a high-sheen jersey dress and ankle boots. Divercity of palette was more tonal, with Azria’s favorite shades of stone prominently featured, along with flashes of bright orange and blue, navy blue.

A tonal palette of grays and whites was the backcloth for occasional flashes of bright color that were  “blurs into the urban landscape.”

It was clear by the end that Max Azria has a proper young and fresh perspective for the BCBG brand that joins functionality with a sexy disrespect that leaves all the bases covered, though for certain not all your body.

Karl Lagerfeld joins with Accessory Network Group to produce a line of great accessories.
He made a new collection of handbags for Spring/Summer 2009. The line took a year to design. Lagerfeld personally approved each of the 42 designs.

It is said that this hot new line has been “inspired by the designer’s passion for modern architecture and photography, and especially by his spirited lifestyle and iconic personality.”

The new line of handbags includes laptop cases, which is surprising since Lagerfeld has said:

I don’t use a computer; I do research with my brain. And if I want or need to — I get people to do it for me”.

The handbags are good and trendy. Prices series will be $600 to $3,000.

As the sun goes down, bunches of Puma sneakers blossom on local trees heralding the evenings fashion event at the Cargo Lounge.

Australia’s biggest designer names and leading fashion retailers are set to present a style-packed festival of fashion for the people when the inaugural Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival (RSFF) kicks off from 13 - 17 August 2008.

Featuring 5 days of free and ticketed public events, the festival will profile the contemporary spring summer collections 2009 of local and international fashion brands as this new season’s looks arrive into stores throughout the city.

Dance, Music, and fashion fused at Puma’s summer collection 2009 launch.

Guests were treated not only to a fashion parade but also a performance by international hip-hop artist Lyrics Born and a catwalk routine choreographed by Nacho Pop. Lyrics Born performs until 9:30pm alongside a danced/catwalked parade of Puma gear by So You Think You Can Dance’s Nacho Pop.

Taken to another level, Lyrics Born opened the parade with his hit song ‘Calling Out’ which got the crowd jumping which cue the parade which injected more energy into the venue.

Puma’s summer collected feature funky street and athletic wear in bold, primary colours.
