Tom Ford was the creative director of Gucci for 10 years in succession and once had a chance to pose with a naked Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson for a magazine cover. Now the fashion designer has his own range of eyewear, fragrances and a luxury menswear line.

Mr Ford is famous for using raunchy advertising campaigns to promote his products. When asked why he prefers this way of promoting his creations he says:

How else are you going to sell perfume to heterosexual men?”

I hate talking about sex. The thing is, people look much better naked. They are all the same colour and they can’t screw up. You see someone at the gym and they look great. Then they put their clothes on.

Tom explained why he had decided to design a high-class men’s range - because he wasn’t much impressed by the clothes other designers offered to him.

This is what he told Britain’s The Times newspaper:

“Do you know why I launched this menswear line?

Because I couldn’t find anything to wear.

“That whole obsession with youth, with new, new, new. It is giving us clothes that no one can wear. As for the business model that I followed at Gucci - the new this, the ‘It’ that. The lets get it on a celebrity and shoot her in front of a logo, it was getting old then. Now it is really old.”

To tell you the truth I don’t think there is absolutely nothing to wear now when there are so many items offered. It’s just Mr Ford wants to revive his career and gain even more popularity than ever.

There is only one day left until the New Year and it’s high time we discussed the events that took place during the year leaving.

There were plenty of scandals that surprised and even shocked us to some extent. I mean those erotic ad campaigns which became very popular with people but were soon banned due to the fact they were too obscene.

Let’s discuss them once again and have a good laugh at it.

The first thing that comes to my mind is a rowdy Tom Ford’s campaign. This designer does not generally use ordinary themes in his campaigns.

His ads often become the topical points. People discuss those erotic performances widely and even condemn the couturier for that.

Famous designer Tom Ford, who left the fashion world behind to try something new, something like cinematography, declared Wednesday his first deal to direct a film.

A Single Man, starring Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode, is set to begin shooting in Los Angeles in November.

This film is an adaptation of Christopher Isherwood’s novel A Single Man.

Tom Ford left high-profile job place at Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci in 2004 with great fanfare, declaring purpose of bringing his knack for all things shining and defiant to the world of entertainment.

After leaving Gucci, Ford also signed on with CreativeArtists Agency with the aim to slide into the director’s chair.

That time he bragged on three projects in the works and formed his own production company, Fade to Black, the next year.

Over time though, Tom found himself drawn back into fashion: a cosmetics partnership with Estee Lauder, sunglasses, a high-end menswear brand, and now menswear stores in twenty cities.

Tom Ford, who was recently ranked 12th in a list of the 49 men, who’re most powerful the way other men thought, behaved and shopped, adapted the scenario for his own financed project with David Scearce.

But he didn’t give up on films. Ford lives part-time in Los Angeles and increasingly has become a red-carpet player with the likes of Daniel Craig and Tom Hanks wearing his tuxedos to major events.

One of Ford’s well-advertised customer is Daniel Craig, who wears Tom Ford’s outfits in the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace.

The rainy weather did small to stifle the spirits of David and Victoria Beckham or the side-splitting fans who turned up at Macy’s Herald Square for the presentation of their new fragrance, Beckham Signature.

Victoria was wearing a Giambattista Valli grey shift dress and black skin-tight-thigh-high 2,000 pounds PVC boots.

These rubber stockings/boots have platforms, but are absolutely heel-less, giving the vision that Vicky is balancing all her weight on her tippy toes.

That’s just crazy.

Victoria said to the crowds inside:

The turn-out has been absolutely phenomenal so thank you so much for queuing up for so long in the rain. It’s great for us to be here. We’re very, very excited. I look forward to meeting you all, so thank you.”

Her footballer husband David Beckham, in a striped Tom Ford suit, added:

I’d also like to thank everyone who turned up and hope it will be a great day as well. Thank you.”

The Beckham couple signed autographs and bubbles of their new aroma, Beckham Signature For Him and Beckham Signature For Her.

The new delicate aroma for women White Patchouli by Tom Ford will be present in September 2008. Tom Ford is opening his flagship stores chain and each of them will have a perfume dedicated to that particular town.

White Patchouli, which is a modern twist on the classic bohemian ingredient. It is mixed as a game of bergamot, jasmine, white flowers, patchouli, peony, rose, coriander and ambrette seed. The White Patchouli is available in a white glass bottle in three sizes: 30, 50 and 100ml edt, and as body lotion. The perfume prepared for September is named Arabian Wood and it will be presented together with Ford’s store in Kuwait.

For this project, I wanted to reinvent patchouli,(…) I loved the idea of mixing patchouli with white florals. We used patchouli orpur, which takes out some of the darker, smoky notes of patchouli. We mixed that with peony, bergamot, and jasmine. Additional notes include rose, coriander, and ambrette seed.”

Ad campaign for this aroma was done in black and white by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The face for Tom Ford’s new perfume is popular singer Erykah Badu.

Erykah Badu is the Grammy Award-winning singer. She known for her neo-soul musical stylings and unique fashion sense, credits the cooperation to a “mutual respect and admiration” between herself and the Gucci group designer. Erykah Badu said,

I trusted him to pair my image with a fragrance that was exquisite, and he did that and more. I look forward to working with him again.”
