Sarah Jessica Parker appeared at the Blue Book Ball by Tiffany and Co. jewellery brand in New York wearing a floor-length metallic gown and black blazer. She complemented the look with a box clutch and oversized pendant.

Poppy Delevingne went for the original printed dress by Dolce & Gabbana accessorized with sparkling Givenchy sandals and jewellery pieces to attend the Tiffany and Co. Blue Book Ball.

Michelle Williams opted for the floor-sweeping gown in midnight blue with simple lines by Katie Ermilio to come to the Blue Book Ball. As for the accessories, she limited accessories to a chunky bracelet and earrings.

Carey Mulligan looked chic in Victoria Beckham black trouser ensemble, which she styled with T-bar shoes, to attend the Tiffany and Co. Blue Book Ball.

Gwyneth Paltrow attended the Tiffany and Co. Blue Book Ball wearing a silk floor-length gown in sea green by Ralph Lauren styled with a butterfly brooch and chunky cuff.

Kate Hudson stunned on the red carpet of Blue Book Ball by Tiffany and Co. in a strapless floor-sweeping gown in mint green with a seductive split from Reem Acra. She complemented the dress with a creamy box clutch and jewellery.

Doutzen Kroes opted for a bold Lanvin gown in fuchsia to appear at the event organized by Tiffany and Co. She preferred to make an accent on the dress and thus kept the accessories to a minimum.

Rebecca Hall became a center of attention as she wore a plunging Lanvin jumpsuit to step onto the red carpet at the premiere of Iron Man 3 in London. She complemented the look with strappy sandals and a box clutch.

Emma Roberts appeared at the premiere of Adult World in New York city in the midnight blue silk dress with the original neckline with straps. She styled the look with black platform sandals and a gold cuff.

Olivia Palermo spiced up her black floor-length dress with see-through sleeves with the bright-colored jewellery pieces and multicolored clutch to appear at the 2013 Pikolinos Gala Dinner at the United Nations, New York.

Anna Sophia Robb went for the colorful printed pencil dress, which she styled with woven shoes, to appear at the Environmental Partnership Benefiting Recycle Across America by Kiel’s in California.

Vera Wang went for mini length as she wore a beaded halterneck dress styled with platform pumps and jewellery to attend the Hot Pink Party Benefit Gala in New York.

Elizabeth Hurley appeared at the same event in a stunning floor-sweeping pink gown with rich sequin embellishment, which perfectly matched the charity’s signature pink color.

Kate Hudson flashed her leg again as she opted for a black floor-length dress with high split to appear at the Hot Pink Party Benefit Gala directed to help the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Fashion Trends For Spring Season

Monochromatic

It’s all black and white for this Spring. Even prints and patterns come in black and white, namely the omnipresent stripes, polka dot, houndstooth, and checkers. There are many other abstract designer prints in black and white which add more detail to the look. The classic monochrome combination is worn in suits, top and pant/skirt ensembles, blazers and even shoes.

In case you like prints and want to add color to your look go for designs of Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto, and Holly Fulton. Other colorful options include the many patchwork style outfits from brands like Fendi, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler and others.

Metallics

Metallics are everywhere this Spring. There are silver and gold metallic foil shoes, clutches and even clothing items like skirts, jackets and dresses as seen at Burberry Prorsum fashion show. Metallic panels and shiny fabrics also enhance the outfits of such designers as Diane von Furstenberg and Christian Dior.

Other shiny finishes were also spotted at Mary Katrantzou, Alexander McQueen, and Marchesa shows. Shiny satin was used in many collections as well. At Calvin Klein the suits were featured in champagne satin while in collection by Erdem it was teamed with lace panels.

Sheer Fabrics

Sheer fabrics and paneling were seen all over the runways during Spring 2013 Fashion Weeks. At Christopher Kane there were sheer fabric overlays while at Emilio Pucci the sheer garments were expertly combined with opaque ones.

The sheer overlaid skirt or hemline are perfect for rocking this trend. Though designers also offer items that feature patterns created using solid and sheer panels.

Ruffles

Ruffles were another reccuring trend on the runways. Balenciaga and Givenchy went for assymetrical ruffles that decorated the dresses while Gucci showed ruffles teamed with streamline silhouettes which made a nice contrast in shapes.

Ruffles can be tough to pull off but the key is to not overdo. Team ruffles with items that feature clean lines and simpler shapes. Since these particular ruffles are quite dramatic they don’t require too many accessories.

Oriental Style

Oriental style as seen at Emilio Pucci, Prada and other shows was translated into short kimono-like dresses with floral and other Oriental motifs. Hermes created an amazing colorful collection with some Oriental motifs accessorized with bright shoes and statement accessories.

Structured dresses and mixed prints make complex outfits so be sure to keep your accessories minimal when putting together outfits in this style.

Suits

Suit is a must-have of the season. Whether you need a strict one for the office or a bright one for the outings you can choose from the ones Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Mary Katrantzou, Jonathan Saunders, and many other brands demonstrated on the catwalk.

While some designers chose to focus solely on their suits, others went further to complete them with tops and accessories. Saint Laurent showed strict men’s style suits combined with intricate blouses and dramatic bows.

Bermuda Shorts

Bermuda shorts will also make it to fashionistas’ wardrobes this Spring as they were featured in collections by such designers as Alexander Wang, Chloe, DKNY, Rachel Zoe, Rag & Bone and others. Made in solid suit fabrics as well as colorful bright printed ones the bermuda shorts are great alternative to the pants this Spring. Some designers created suits featuring bermuda shorts while others combined them with bright blazers and statement tops.

Other trends include beading, cut outs, bared midriffs, leather, and sportswear style, which you could see at Oscar de la Renta, Cushnie et Ochs, Dolce & Gabbana, Proenza Schouler, and DKNY.

And 2013 CFDA Awards Nominees Are…

CFDA announced the nominees for 2013 CFDA Awards which will take place in New York on June 3. The list includes such big names as Alexander Wang who got two nominations for the prestigious award, Marc Jacobs who will again compete against Wang for Womenswear Designer of the Year award, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs who are nomintated for Swarovski Awards for Womenswear and many others.

The honorary award receivers were also unveiled. Oscar de la Renta will take a Founders Award while designer Colleen Atwood will receive a Board of Directors’ Tribute Award. Media Award will be given to Tim Blanks while Riccardo Tisci will get International Award. Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award is going to Vera Wang.

The last year has been good for Alexander Wang as he got a new job at Balenciaga and this year started with warm reviews of his debut collection for the brand. Another 2013 CFDA Award would be a great addition to his growing resume. By the way, Wang received two awards for accessories and one for womenswear in the period between 2009 and 2011. This year the designer might scoop one or two for either (or both).

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler compete against Wang in same both categories. The duo took home this same award in 2009. Phillip Lim, who received Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent in Menswear last year, is also up for Accessory Designer of the Year award.

Thom Browne is also nominated for the same award as the one he won in 2006. The former J. Crew SVP Todd Snyder is up for Swarovski Award for Menswear together with Tim Coppens and the designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School menswear brand.

Grammys 2013 Best Fashion

Taylor Swift looked lovely in a white J. Mendel dress with silver detailing and silver Jimmy Choo shoes. The singer who opened the Grammys show accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz earrings, an Ofira ring, and a Jaimin with Lorraine Schwartz bracelet.

Solange Knowles amazed in green sparkly Ralph & Russo Couture gown she accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and eye-catching studded coral pumps.

The new indie singer Kimbra donned a beautiful dress from Australian designer Jaime Lee Major. It was just a bit in a territory of a stage costume but it was definitely not less beautiful.

Singer Miguel, who won an award for the Best R&B Song opted for a white suit which her wore with black leather top and studded platform shoes.

Carrie Underwood wore a strapless Roberto Cavalli dress which she swapped for a Theia dress that changed images during the performance.

Carly Rae Jepsen opted for a Roberto Cavalli dress that the nominated singer wore with Jerome C. Rousseau shoes and accessorized with H. Stern jewelry.

Stylish pair Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka both opted for John Varvatos. Neil Patrick Harris wore a whole suit while David Burtka opted for a mismatched outfit with the black pants and a shiny blazer.

Rihanna covered up in a red Azzedine Alaia dress with a semi sheer bodice that still look quite modest. She wore it with Manolo Blahnik shoes and Neil Lane jewelry.

Justin Timberlake sported a black Tom Ford suit with a patterned blazer finished off with a white shirt and a bow tie.

Karlie Kloss looked stylish in a light blue Michael Kors cutout dress with her new bob haircut styled in waves.

Allison Williams of Girls wore a black strapless dress as some other celebs at the Grammys 2013 from Kaufman Franco with Stephen Webster jewelry.

Nicole Kidman donned a golden lace Vera Wang gown with sheer skirt,  which she paired with L’Wren Scott shoes, Roger Vivier clutch and Fred Leighton jewelry.

Vera Wang Pre-Fall 2013 Collection

Vera Wang has finally released her unique version for the Pre-Fall 2013 season. Remember about the military infusion that has been taking over the best fashion industry minds? Well, Vera Wang as a true individualist completely ignored this army tendency. And it is such a relief because she managed to achieve that sensual and feminine look with some bold touches to the overall collection! She created a completely new look on the Pre-Fall 2013 fashion season, introducing a lot of elegant evening pieces, disguised in a shape of a casual pants, blouses and such.

While Vera Wang is being authentic and bold, her Pre-Fall 2013 vision includes numerous pieces infused with “metallic floral damask applied on a matte contrasting/same color base as well as through mixed fabrics while rounded patterns that create a more curvy body appearance”, which certainly dominate the scene and make a startling impression on the whole collection.

Vera Wang Rumored To Be Dating Olympic Champion Evan Lysacek

Vera Wang has reportedly invited Lysacek to stay in her Beverly Hills mansion for a while, so the two have been living together for about a month. Besides, they spend a lot of time with each other walking, shopping and doing other things a normal couple usually does.

According to one insider “something is going on.” But another source claims Wang is just “enamoured with him and enjoys his company ” and there is nothing more than just friendship. Nothing has been confirmed by either of the parties or their representatives yet.

Evan Lysacek was once linked to an Olympic gymnast and even was rumored to be gay. But again, no one can prove or deny these rumors.

The fashion designer and Lysacek have been working on a number of costumes for his skating performances for years. It was her designs that he wore when he won the 2009 World Championships, and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where the skater took home the gold .

Vera Wang and Arthur Becker Are Divorcing

The president of Ms Wang’s company, Mario Grauso, said in a statement:

Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate. They remain devoted parents to their two daughters.”

The couple that hasn’t lived just two weeks to their 23rd wedding anniversary both run the eponymous fashion house, so they are still going to work together. A friend of the designer commented:

They will not let this impact the running of the company. They have worked too hard to build it up.”

No details on the reasons for the separation have been revealed yet and will never probably be. All we know is that the two have been happy together. They have had good and bad days, just like all of us. And all we can do now is to wish them all the best as it will be really hard for them to start everything over again.

Vera Wang designed an incredible collection for Pre-Fall 2012 fashion season. When I say incredible I mean the fact she was able to make outfits that were both feminine and boyish, sporty and classy, sexy and a bit weird.

Vera Wang’s halter floor-length dress with kaleidoscope print literally won my heart. It looked elegant and sophisticated. The bubble-skirt in the same print looked fantastic too and combined with a cropped cardigan buttoned up the back it created unforgettable impression.

Tight-fitting knitted shorts were worn over tights and teamed with unusual jackets and tops with extremely long sleeves. Shorts were worn under stylish dresses too, which was unexpected but along with socks that reached models’ knees they looked harmoniously.

Dresses in Vera Wang’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection were often with asymmetrical hemlines, in mullet style or other. And topped with boleros they seemed to be perfect for colder seasons. Scarves were few but one singled out from the range due to its length that reached the model’s knees. This was a daring step but very much in Vera Wang’s direction.

For a few centuries in a row girls have worn white wedding dresses on their big days. And while designs of dresses changed throughout the period the color stayed the same. It’s probably only ivory that is more or less close in popularity to white when it comes to bridal gowns. However, there is a designer, one of the best in the industry, who believes a wedding dress can be black… It’s Vera Wang.

Vera Wang has experimented with colors before. She’s tried green, blue and even purple. But for Spring 2012 season she went to the extreme – she sent 9 of her models down the runway in black pieces.

Of course Vera Wang’s black wedding dresses were as chic and fabulous as dresses of other colors but they still were black, which was odd and crazy in the sense that black color is a symbol of mourn in many cultures.

The designer explains her decision:

I found black to be fresh and tongue in cheek. With all the big weddings that happened this year, it was fun to step out of the box. I did take it to a witchy kind of place. For me, it helped build a sense of mystery that I was hungry for. And it added this sensuality and sexuality, and a little bit of severity, too.”

Maybe the idea is interesting but I wouldn’t want to wear black on my wedding. Would you?
