Dame Westwood wouldn’t be she if she created something that was ordinary. She is always very extravagant and her works make us feel surprised every season.

For Paris Fashion week the designer focused on the bluestocking young lady and footpad theme. Extremely colorful and unusual outfits were modelled on the show with girls sometimes looking funny and playful and in other times strict and even threatening.

Although garments seemed to have been made from old fabrics and worn-earlier clothes we know that each piece was actually the result of Westwood’s creation, an elaborate piece that costs lots of money.

Plenty of knee-length dresses looked pretty and eccentric but some were definitely wearable. There were lots of prints of any kind, from flowers to stars and even crowns. By the way, some models wore crowns on their heads – flamboyant and huge, adding an ironic touch to the collection.

When I was a little girl I read Alice in Wonderland story and understood almost nothing of the things the author had wanted to tell in it. Then I grew up and reread the book and perceived it in a quite different way. Now in times of 3D technologies I’ve got one more chance to think over the message Lewis Carroll had sent to his readers.
The film that premiered yesterday (February 25) in London would certainly become a hit. Both kids and adults will watch it with pleasure, expecially taking into consideration the cast.

Gorgeous Anne Hathaway played the role of the White Queen. On the red carpet at the premiere at the Odeon Leicester Square the actress looked stunning. Her face was pale white (Not like in the movie, of course, but still very pale.) and played a great contrast with her dark brown hair, bright makeup and a brown sparkly dress created by Vivienne Westwood.

It was raining and Anne had to sashay along the red carpet in her beautiful strapless dress. She tried to show the rain was nothing to her and even said she ‘loved’ it.

There was another girl who looked as perfect at the event – Avril Lavigne. She attended the premiere because her song Alice plays over the movie’s end crdits. Her long black dress and a dazzling diamond necklace looked fabulous on her.
I hope to find time soon to watch the film and see how the story written so many years ago can be presented in modern time. Tell me about your impresions, too.

Vivienne Westwood is a designer who can create things that are good for both 16 and 60-year-old people. And this keeps her popularity so high year after year. She’s really talented and has good understanding of what people will like to wear.

The fact I personally like Dame Westwood for is that she combines classic looks with new hot trends in such a way everyone feels right. However, sometimes, she goes too far and pieces that just cannot be together are put together. Mess is the result, but isn’t that artsy mess we all want from time to time?

The new collection for Fall 2010 looks incredibly modern with all those vibrant-colored leggings, draped dresses and huge shoulders. But it is as well classic and includes romantic Red Label heritage: plaids and stripes, and soft flowing silhouettes.

Lots of items do look great in the range, though I would choose other combos to wear with them. Little black dresses, trousers that come in light pink-and-orange stripes, a leopard strapless dress, a plaid skirt suit, knee-high socks and bright ankle boots with lace detail in front did make a dead set in my heart.

Alexa Chung is not new to fashion industry. She has walked the catwalk for Vivienne Westwood and modelled for DKNY and British chain New Look. And although she now works as the British TV presenter fashion is very interesting for her.

So, it comes as no surprise that she finaly agreed to collaborate with the chain retailers to create her own fashion range.
The 26-year-old said:
I was being offered so many collaborations for a long time, but I held off. I thought it was quite a ’sellout’ thing to do.”
Alexa isn’t going to be just a spokesperson for the line.
The brand’s chairman Millard Drexler told WWD:
There is no grand scheme to this, and we still don’t want to hire a celebrity spokesperson. It’s just that Alexa is totally cool. It’s not the way she looks or dresses. It’s the way she is.”
The upcoming range is to be inspired by Alexa’s personal style. It will include dungaree dresses, high-waisted skinny jeans, polka dot tea dresses and oversized wool jackets.
Why her wardrobe choices are so important? Because last year Alexa was named the most stylish woman by Vogue!

Yesterday night (December 9) the British Fashion Awards 2009 were held at the royal Courts of Justice. The ceremony that marked the finale to the British Fashion Council’s 25th anniversary celebrations was sponsored by Swarovski.
The event was wholly dedicated to fashion and those people who have contributed to its development within the last 25 years. Over 500 people arrived including industry leaders, celebrities, designers, retailers, models and journalists.

Lots of celebrity women appeared on the red carpet wearing sumptuous outfits. Singer-turned designer Victoria Beckham wore one of her own creations – a floor-sweeping silk crepe Eighties-style gown with crystal embroidery on the shoulderpads. She looked gorgeous as always.
The Bristish supermodel Kate Moss opted for a similar-to-Posh’s dress – a sheer black Flamenco-style tiered dress with a super-long train. To cover her dignity a bit Kate donned a black blazer. Beautiful!

Bond-girl Olga Kurylenko looked stunning in a short black dress and a bolero, which she paired with black suede pumps and a clutch.
Designer Myleene Klass looked absolutely fabulous in a black frock with sheer sleves and a pair of perfect red shoes.
The other two girls in black were Eva Herzigova and Daisy Lowe who both rocked wonderful long gowns with cutaways and long splits.

Rising star in modelling business Amber le Bon sported a black mini and a blazer together with a pair of grey pumps and a white bag.

Glam events are important for us to see what celebrities like about fashion. While desigers offer a great variety of styles and trends, celebs show exactlly what looks good.
Now let’s speak about fashion and style of AMA 2009 attendees. By the way, the event was held at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre yesterday (November 22).

My top pick is of course Rihanna in a strapless Marchesa gown with sexy floral cut-outs. The dress is truly special. It comes in an unusual shape and is black outside while being white on the inside. Fabulous white shoes and simple jewelry completed the attire.
What also deserves your attention here is Rihanna’s makeup. I think it’s crazy, not inspiring as the star might have hoped.

I love Versace and that’s why Shakira and her bright yellow strapless mini is the second on my list. Gorgeous figure plus absolutely marvellous frock and accessories make the 32-year-old beauty one of the best-looking on the red carpet.

Alicia Keys is the third with a hot blue dress embellished with gemstones.
She opted for beautiful blue shoes of the same hue, a tiny clutch and a set of sparkling jewelry to match the apparel.

Vivienne Westwood’s fan, Leona Lewis, comes next.
The dress she wore to the event was very like in style of the designer – royal luxury mixed with eccentric form in addition to simplicity of the idea. Robert Anthony ring fought for the attention of its own.

No boots can be durable enough to be worn in rain every day if only these aren’t made from rubber or PVC.
But those choices we have on the market aren’t much attractive and we still tend to wear more common footwear being aware of the fact it won’t last long.

So, it’s great news that Vivienne Westwood has created fabulous booties in collaboration with Australian footwear line, Melissa.
These lilac-colored galoshes come from the partners’ Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
It is made of 100% PVC and features an almond toe and slight heel, and hits just above the ankle. To add some glamour and femininity to the boots Westwood attached a black PVC bow on front.
These boots are definitely for confident and quirky ladies who aren’t afraid to turn heads while they rush through rain puddles.
Looks nice and unusual!
The boots cost approximately $125.

When designers want to diversify the range of products they create the majority of them turn to fragrances or cosmetics. As for Grand Dame Vivienne Westwood, she decided it would be interesting to design… wallpapers.

Well, for those who love Westwood’s talent and creations this might seem a perfect idea. To realize her new project the eccentric designer teamed up with Cole & Son company.

The Dame feels excited about the work:
It is good when my ideas get carried over into other artistic media,’ says Vivienne. ‘This collection is a perfect opportunity to be able to work with a heritage company like Cole & Son and to see my ideas from fashion translated into the world of interiors and wallpaper.’

This ecentric lady cannot create ordinary and inconspicuous things.
All she does has to be at least extravagant.

Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label collection Spring/Summer 2010 was presented at London Fashion Week. It is full of garments I would never consider compartible but she made those compliment each other. Well, it’s a talent, a gift maybe.

Lots of stripes and diamond-shape patterns, flower prints, solid colors mixed in the most impossible manner…

There are many innovative forms and renewed ones too. Items that attract much attention are the following: diaper shorts, drop-crotch pants, the combination of a skirt and clinging shorts which come in contrast colors, high-waisted trousers with two belts, a knitted blouse with one sleeve only, a kerchief tied over the face in a cowboy way and plush toys the models carry in their hands.
