Jessica Simpson seems to like designing a lot as her fashion empire is getting bigger and bigger. The singer and actress has recently announced she is going to launch a range of watches to add to her line that already includes clothes, shoes and perfume.

Jessica admits that idea to create a collection of timepieces is the pure sequence of her love to these items.

She said:

Collecting watches, both vintage and new, has been a hobby of mine for some time so adding watches to the collection was a natural extension.”

To make watches of high quality the 29-year-old star has teamed up with jeweller Pascal Mouawad who once collaborated with Nicole Richie on her House of Harlow 1960 fashion range.

The range will include 35 designs based on Jessica’s personal style and will vary from classic faces with a leather strap to elaborate jewellery-inspired looks.

Moden people can hardly do without watches. We always hurry somewhere and being aware of the time is really important.

But when beauty and luxury are combined with practicality it works twice as well. This is just the case with Swatch Christmas 2009 Collection which is absolutely fabulous.

I like writing about celebrities who go for charity. It is so noble, especially nowadays when everyone is focused on himself only.

Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has designed this black PVD twirl watch in a limited edition to support Mary J. Blige’s charity, the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now.

The exclusive watch costs a lot, $1,895 but it is worth this money. The bracelet-style watch features a face framed in black diamonds and a commemorative FFAWN engraving on the back.

Some part of the proceeds from the sale of the Gucci watches will be donated to Mary J. Blige’s charity.

The launch of the watch will take place on September 16 at Gucci’s Fifth Avenue flagship store and later it will be available at Gucci boutiques and various department stores stateswide.

Reptile leather was used here no rarely than in handbag collection. Leather bracelets and wristlets as well as belts often come from this material, which looks beautiful.

In tough times people tend to invest into practical things of high quality.

Ralph Lauren is the designer who understands this and that is why he has decided to create a line of watches that people will want to own for many-many years.

The designer teamed up with Johann Rupert from watch specialists the Richemont Group to work on the line.

He said:

I hate the idea that when something is old, you throw it out. I like people to save and cherish things. I wanted to design the finest-quality watch. And although they are accessories on one level, in this economy, people are looking for a quality watch that they can keep forever.”

The collection is Lauren’s debut line of watches. It includes the rose-gold Slim Classique and the diamond-set stirrup, £17,600 or $29,528.27.

While the designer is so conscious about practicality of his own lines he, himself, isn’t as practical about the watch he wears.

He says:

I own a Panerai, originally made for the Italian navy. It’s bigger than my arm, but I wear it over a leather jacket!”

Ralph is full of plans. Next year he is going to launch a fine-jewelry collection.

He commented:

We’re working in a slow and careful way. I just want to see what I can say that’s new. I might put pearls with an army shirt. I like to mix things up.”

The exquisite watch collection is available in selected Ralph Lauren boutiques, independent jewelers and watch retailers worldwide.

Polo Ralph Lauren has recently been admitted to the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2009 (SIHH), a prestigious luxury watch industry trade show as far as he has partnered with the prestigious watch making Richmont Group to produce watches with a license from popular fashion house.

Richemont is the second-largest luxury company today controlling group behind a number of high performing luxury watch brands such and IWC, Officine Panerai, and Cartier.

Ralph Lauren has unveiled its first Swiss timepiece collection in Geneva, looking for the part of a shrinking market. The new watches will be distributed through a number of retailers worldwide under the “Polo Ralph Lauren Watch and Jewelery Company” name.

The venture between New York – based Polo Ralph Lauren Co. and Switzerland’s Cie. Financiere Richemont SA is starting to sell three collections, including the Ralph Lauren Stirrup line, marketing documents released at the Geneva Watch Fair today show.

We are here to last, and we are here for the long term,” Ralph Lauren Watch Chief Executive, Guy Chatillon stated at a recent press conference.

The Swiss watch industry may be facing its biggest drop in exports since the 1970s, according to a forecast by John Guy, an analyst at MF Global Securities.

Exports may drop more than 15 per cent this year, he estimates.

The timepieces are expected to be priced between 10,000 Swiss francs ($8,800) and 30,000 francs, according to Bloomberg.

The watch market is very tough now. Let’s see if the Polo Ralph Lauren line can withstand the hard competition.
