Footwear fashion is a capricious lady. Today this style is trendy, tomorrow that one and the day after tomorrow we return to first sample… Yes, it happens a lot.

This season is also notable for that. Something just goes into fashion, other styles have returned to us and some have gone away for some time or forever. Read and find out about what is in vogue this winter.

Stilettos

Stilettos have always been nice and sexy but sometimes they are not the hottest trend. This season they are and you can wear your favorite pair by Louboutin or other designer.

However, this season have one peculiarity – stiletto and platform go together.

Sounds incredible, isn’t it? But actually it is a hidden platform in the front part of the shoe, with a super-tall stiletto heel at the back.

Platforms and chunky heels were popular for the past few seasons. Today they are not the most fashionable style as a graceful stiletto has returned.

Bags for winter 2009 have one main peculiarity – diversity of style! It means your bag can be of any style but it shouldn’t be versatile.

‘Various bags for various occasions’ is a motto of all designers for this season. Bright clutches for evening wear, roomy for shopping, elegant small bags for office – just everything you like, dear Ladies! Each bag has to be distinguished by style, colour, shape and, of course, its own unique character.

Well, let’s start…

Volumes and shapes

As we have already mentioned the size of your bag is not very important in this season. To be more precise, it depends on your personal preferences and role you have chosen it for.

However, this time designers advise us to avoid too big shopping bags that do not go very well with a romantic winter outwear. To add some volume to bags of smaller size couturiers used diverse pleats and drapery.

Vintage are still with us. This time designers paid special attention to the models of 1960s – rounded, square and trapeze shapes. Bags of this style are ornamented with voluminous patch pockets, decorative straps or fringes.

vintage handbags

The trendiest style is a clutch. You can find them nearly in every collection, and it certainly means there are clutches to fit any taste: strictly classical, unusual futuristic, vintage, embroidered or embellished with strasses.

Winter is a nice, beautiful season but there are certain things that irritate us about it.

It is of course the temperature and lack of colours. Everything looks so monotonous… grey, faded and drab. White snow looks perfect but sooner or later you get bored of it.

That is why it is so important to choose color palette for your winter clothes.

Winter 2008-2009 color trends

It should cheer you up, comfort and give positive emotions. Fashion for winter 2009 is rather contradictory in this respect. Black and grey are the hottest trend colours, though one can hardly describe them as optimistic or invigorating.

Here are ten colours that will be popular this winter:

Black

No wonder it is again in fashion. Designers love it and we do either. It seems to be comfortable, practical, noble, and what is even more important - black creates a leaner image of us.

Besides, it goes well with all closing items we have in the wardrobe. Black garments do not usually become old-fashioned; in case they do you can wear them as vintage ones.

Black Color Zac Pozen, Sandler, Chanel, Rad Hourani

, Sandler, , Rad Hourani

The peculiarity of fashion for black in this season is that every item of our outfit should be black – headwear, a , a blouse, a skirt or trousers, a coat or a jacket, (black opaque are a hot winter trend) and of course footwear ( or ).

Accessorize your look with black gloves and a bag of the same colour.

Black and white

This season the combination of black and white takes on special significance. These tints are vastly included into office and business style outfits and evening wear as well.

Black-and-White colors Temperley, Julien MacDonald, Naeem Khan, Jens Laugesen

It looks elegant and is rather practical because you can wear the garments of this colour mix for various occasions accessorizing your looks with various bags and jewellery.

Winter is around the corner and we have to think about footwear for this snowy season. Couturiers have determined the hot trends of this winter already and we can start looking for a pair or two that will save us from winter cold.

Platform heels

Choosing designer footwear is always a complicated thing. When we see collections on the runways we usually consider the models to be too vulgar, radical, exquisite, brutal, glamorous, etc. It often seems to us that while creating lines designers were reflecting about everything but not an ordinary woman who has to lead a hectic life.

But when we look closer we see that this trapeze skirt can go well with high-stiletto or that coat may be very well accessorized with a pair of ankle .

Bright Ankle boots

This way we realize that extremely high heels, huge platforms or even a weird structure instead the first and the second can be quite acceptable for every day wear. And we should just have a close look to select something that really matches our own style.

First of all we have to decide what we prefer: heels or a platform.

Let’s start from heels.

The trendy heel for winter 2009 is a very high and thin stiletto. It must be at least 4 inches long and as thin as it can be.

Metal stilettos which were so popular last season this time have been removed from a woman’s of fashion wardrobe. They are believed to be too brutal for a stylish girl.

A coat is the first thing others see of you and gain an impression of who you are.

We’ve taked about winter outwear trendsfor Fall 2008 >>

No doubt, are very important. To create the right impression we should follow the and avoid staying behind our time.

Here are trends for fall 2008 and winter 2009:

Cocoon

The cocoon look interesting though they aren’t new for us. Last year we saw quite many trapeze pyramid shapes. This year they are no longer popular and have transformed into more shapely cocoons. The hemlines and sleeves trimmed with fur or velvet make the silhouette look unusual and stylish.

Cocoon Coats Fall 2008

A-line

A-line are becoming more and more popular among women of fashion as they look pretty feminine. These have skirts that fall from softly controlled, gathered fullness, like these below.

A-line coats

Fur Trimming

Many that were shown on the runways were trimmed with fur. Fashion designers are using fur along hemlines, on collars, hoods, cuffs and also as decorative trims to open-front . A coat trimmed with fur always looks chic and gorgeous!

Fur trimming coats

Winter White Coat

White is always perfect if you are slim. And if you have details of embellishment or embroidery of the same coloration it inevitably looks terrific. White on white, cream on cream, taupe on taupe, black on black always creates an expensive look.

white coats

Leather & Fur Clothes

Leather and fur are among the looks of autumn 2008. Leather was used not only in but in , biker jackets and skinny trousers.

Leather coats

There were a lot of fur at the catwalk. Some of them were cut with precision. However, many designers used simple silhouettes to which drew attention to the material itself.

fur coat

Satin garments

It’s not just fur or leather that are fashionable materials this winter, but also satin and satinised fabrics. Designers created collections in both bold primary and secondary colours.

Satin fabrics of electric bright and super sleek neutral colours were popular on the runways.

Satin organza coats

Amongst bright warm colours, tomato red, teal and fuchsia and bright magenta were used to attract your attention this fall.

Colourful Bright

Bright colour is developing into a fashion trend in itself. There are so many colourful and cheerful colours on the catwalks this Autumn 2008.

bright coats

Key colours for autumn and winter include plenty of berry tones: pink, purple, aubergine blues, all kinds of red, magenta, rosy, claret, maroon, blackberry and puce.

These tints will be trendy for long as they look cute, feminine and youthful.

Military Style

Military trend is considered to be classic. Uniform makers love it very much as it instantly knocks some shape into the wearer, makes the wearer stand up straight, and gives the individual a better bearing to face the world.

military coats

If you purchase a coat of this style be sure it will be in fashion again and again.

Well, it’s time to buy a winter coat but before doing that check that you are wisely adding a classic to your wardrobe rather than slavishly following the very latest fashion trend. Fashion is good when trends fit you well. Keeping that in mind choose a coat that flatters your body shape and plays up your good points!
