Before being a model
Cara Delevingne was born on August 12, 1992 in Belgravia, London into a well-connected and privileged family. Her father is an estate developer while her mother is a personal shopper for Selfridges who has helped dress the Duchess herself. Her grandfather Sir Jocelyn Stevens, a former chairman of English Heritage published The Queen magazine and founded a 60’s pirate radio station, Radio Caroline. Cara was raised with her two sisters model Poppy and nightclub entrepreneur Chloe Delevingne in Central London. Being friends with the daughter of CEO of Storm Model Mangagement, Sarah Doukas who discovered Kate Moss, Cara had a contract signed with the agency by the time she got 17. The Delevingne sisters were educated in the Francis Holland School for Girls, which had such former students as billionaire Ecclestone sisters Tamara and Petra, actress Sienna Miller, Joan Collins and many others.
Started modelling at 17 Cara worked some time for ASOS before she got noticed by fashion moguls and in 2010 she already hit the runway for Clements Ribeiro and modelled Burberry’s pre-fall collection. In 2011 she became a face of the brand and also appeared in Numero magazine. Same year she walked for Burberry Prorsum and shot a Burberry Fall ad campaign. She also appeared in editorials for Vogue, W and Harper’s Bazaar.
In 2012 Cara continued to work with Burberry. She appeared in an array of glossy magazines and was chosen to cover Tush. Beside walking designer fashion shows Cara Delevingne made an appearance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2012. Late last year she recieved a Model of the Year 2012 at British Fashion Awards.
In 2013 Delevingne scored a British Vogue cover of the magazine’s March issue, of which she is very proud of. Also the model has been all over catwalks during Fashion Weeks in February. All in all, Cara Delevingne established her modeling career by appearing in such high fashion ad campaigns as Chanel Resort 2013 and numerous Burberry ads but she is also no stranger to mass brands as she fronted campaigns for H&M, Zara, and Reserved.
Regardless of a successful modeling career Cara has her eyes on acting and music as she says she wants to play alongside Meryl Streep or Martin Scorsese. She already had her acting debut in a small part in Anna Karenina alongside Keira Knightley and Jude Law and Rihanna reportedly promised her help in launching a music career.
Anyway as far as her career goes Cara’s got it covered by trademarking her name and opening a company named Cara & Co with her father Charles Delevingne as a co-director.
Last year there were rumors that Cara dated One Direction’s Harry Styles but after a short-lived ‘romance’ the two went their separate ways. Although according to the model Styles was her friend and that everybody has been linked to him. Cara has also been linked to Prince Harry but she said it was a rumor.
This February it was reported that the model dated an indie singer/songwriter Jake Bugg later this year there were rumors about their split.
